Elizabeth reminds me of a real life Jessie from Toy Story.
Ack, Sorry. I just meant older than the rest of the crew. Can you remind me which season he was on with The Amazing Race and who was his partner?
He played twice with his dad but I don't remember which seasons.
Seasons 14 and 18, according to a quick internet search.
I didn't listen to any pre-season podcasts. I stayed off the Survivor Reddit. For the first time in a while, I went into this season with no impressions of the cast at all. After the first episode, I still have high hopes for the season but I don't love the cast. Some of the personalities are so over-the-top that it feels like they hired a bunch of actors and assigned each an archetype. I don't feel like I'm watching real people competing on a reality game show.
We've come full circle. Survivor is like watching a live action version of "Total Drama Island."
I'm glad to see it's not just me who feels this way. I miss the early days when it felt more documentary than scripted drama! And yet, I tune in every season...
I tune in every season as well, hoping for some of the early magic of the show. I guess it's just a tradition with me, been watching since the very beginning. Remember when they actually went to different places- Australia, Africa, Nicaragua?Haven't they been filming at the same place for awhile now?
I was curious about this...Entertainment Weekly interviwed Jeff about this very thing:
"In explaining why staying permanently in Fiji would now make sense, Probst points to global changes that have taken place since the show first went on the air in 2000. “The real truth of the world is, when we started Survivor 18 years ago, there were lots of places we could go,” says the host. “It’s been two decades. It’s a different world. There are not as many places we can go for lots of reasons — the economy, population, political unrest, weather patterns.”
But it’s not just about that, says Probst. If you’re making a checklist for producing a show, the location of Fiji marks every box. “Fiji offers us everything that we want,” says Probst. “Incredibly beautiful water that you can see down 30 feet, beaches that are amazing, a government that is working with us, local labor that loves to say ‘Bula!’ every day because they’re just happy you’re here. And our crew has never been as happy. We actually have decent accommodations to do this show out in the jungle. It’s a win-win-win.”
So I guess Fiji it will be!
Ha ha. Great TC. Boring episode until tribal. And whatshername, the nerdy girl who got all paranoid she was being considered, really worked over whatshisname, nerdy puzzle guy. Wow...she was good. Her and him and his Mason Dixon alliance...that's the team to watch. Also like Mike and his [jacket snooping for idol] budy. Dont know names yet...just Mike from watching TAR.
It was fun to watch Jessica's face turn from smug to Oh Crap!
My husband literally said that last night! ha ha.
My husband and I have watched every season since the beginning. We pull the coffee table in front of the couch and do fondue with wine. Fondue is generally just chicken broth and two cut up chicken breasts and different sauce combos. On the season premiere and finale we do cheese. It is our Survivor Fondue night! Sometimes we wonder if we would still be watching without this little tradition of ours that started in 2000.
With that said, last nights TC was great! I love a good blind side!
It was a good tribal last night but I was really hoping the other team would lose and they could get rid of the psycho older woman with the crazy eyes! The girl with that big cowboy hat on all the time just looks ridiculous!
Great tribal, great vote. She was probably my least favourite David.
We were disappointed when each tribe was handed fire and a tarp. So much for surviving! They are given so much more than the early shows were given- water that they don't have to boil, food, fire.... I remember a long time back when one tribe made fire with a magnifying glass!
Anyway, I don't know names yet, and I'm trying to decide if the nerd who talks a lot will be voted out early or be around for a long while. He gets a lot of air time so I'm guessing it's one or the other. (leaning toward he's around for a long while)
I don't have any favorites yet.
I found this out I think last year. While we were watching the show and they were making shelter, it made me wonder if the camps are at the same exact spots. If so, how much natural habitat is there, or does the show strategically place bamboo scattered. So shelters can be made. It surprised me that the show did not pull them off the island during the storm. Last year a typhoon went thru and the cast was pulled off to a safer area.
Wow I found this thread on page 6.
Glad the Davids won the immunity challenge last night. Wish that Natalie would have gone first. The guy they voted off got caught being really sneaky. And its never a good idea to call a tribe conference. I think that was the start of his downfall.
They were both annoying but I wish they voted out Natalie.
I was so happy that the David tribe won!!! I never like the seasons where one tribe keeps winning every single challenge!
It killed me that Natalie called herself a senior citizen at 57.
Has she done any physical challenge or managed to sit them out.
I just found out that only 15% of anyone over the age of 55 does any kind of physical activity.
I would cringe to think of not exercising and I do not think she does. So why is she on the show.
I think Alec made a mistake but, man, it was good to watch this episode. No same ol' same ol' majority tribe picking off minority tribe. And that chick was abrasive and annoying so 'bye felicia'. I like Davie. Smart guy.
