Stay Strong SEPTEMBER WISH Challenge

Hi All! New here and late to the game...

Welcome! It's never to late to join us :) Congratulations on achieving that weight loss - hope you have seen some improvement on the pre-diabetes and cholesterol results as well. That is why I am trying Keto - you may have read that in my previous posts. I'm a little older than you 46 and also experiencing peri-menopause symptoms - although they have eased the last 4-6 weeks (ssshhhh don't tell my body or it will likely hit me with some more hahaha) - but I have done several months with the night sweats, not sleeping, I barely wore a jumper all winter!

It’s Woohoo Wednesday!

My woohoos are:

  • I have walked every day since Friday
  • I have done Yoga every morning this week
  • I have done 2 strength exercise nights so far this week
  • I have primarily stuck to Keto meal plan this week - NO takeaway - but am looking at you my beloved chocolate for hanging in there :) I did buy some dark chocolate today though.
  • I am close to a work break - I will probably have a week and half off starting midway through next week - YES!

@*tinker*bell* & @4Mickeys Thanks for the yoga videos. I'll have to give them a try!

@4Hawks Welcome to the group! Sounds like you are on your way. And this is a wonderful group of people who help ho, support, listen, and (like you said) motivate us. I hope you find it helpful and continue your success!

My woohoos:
- I am down 5 pounds since last week (I had gained a little with the stress eating the first week of school). I'd still like to lose about 5 more to hit goal, but I'm happy I'm not letting myself go back up.
- My classroom of kindergarteners are picking up the daily routines now that we are on our third week. That really helps the day to run more smoothly.
- My wifi wasn't working this morning, but I was able to pull up the workout on my phone. So I still got it done!
- I have completed a workout every day since school starting!
- I am limiting my snacking and not giving in to every temptation. I like the idea (I think it was @sjrec) of having just a little piece of candy (chocolate or my favorite...Swedish Fish) to fulfill that craving, but not going overboard. So I've been doing that each day during my prep time.
- The weather is just right...a little cooler so my classroom isn't unbearably hot, but I can still wear my summer dresses.

Hi All! New here and late to the game...

I started Keto and IF 2 months ago and have dropped 20 lbs, 55 more to go. I'm 41 and have high cholesterol and pre-diabetes. I was very enthusiastic in the beginning, but seem to be running out of steam lately, particularly when it comes to exercise. Women in my family hit menopause early, so I am already struggling with hot flushes, insomnia, and crazy hormonal swings. If I don't get my act together, I'm terrified I will not live to see my children grow up.

I try to walk 20-30 minutes a day and have been following an exercise program called MUTU, in order to heal my very damaged/weak core. In addition to losing 20 lbs, I have lost 5 inches around my waist and gone down a size (almost 2).

I need help to stay motivated and on track...

Welcome!!!!

Woohoo I leave for Orlando TOMORROW!!!!! my flight leaves at 9:30pm from seattle, but I have the day off work and have to get myself down there so vacation officially starts tomorrow!

Also, as I just passed my one year keto-versary I did a before and after photo collage (although I'm not done, so maybe before and during?) and tried on my old jeans, which barely fit me when I started to try to get my brain to see the difference, as it's really hard for me sometimes. Thought I would share the photos, if I can do it you can too!

WOW! what a difference! And so inspirational. thanks for sharing!

First of all, woohoo that is in fact Wednesday!

I had a Rolfing appointment this morning, and now feel like I have an entirely new body.... it's so much more powerful than regular massage. And I think she has straightened out whatever was going on in my left knee/leg.

I'm really happy with the Juvaderm I got put in... no more resting crabby face. At least for the time being.

My blood pressure numbers are really low, like consistently below 120 systolic (even going down to 104) and hovering around 65 diastolic... that's like normal. And in my morning blood sugar testing I'm consistently around 120, which is back in the pre-diabetic range, so I am seeing good results there as well. I've started logging my weight in FitBit, and looking back to my lightest last summer (which I think was after a juice cleanse), I put on 25 pounds in the past year... I knew it was a lot, but that was kind of shocking.

You are doing great. Those numbers look pretty good.

WOW - you look amazing! You are definitely inspiring me :)

That is great about your numbers! It is amazing how the weight creeps on and then we have to re-do all our hard work... but you seem to be doing well at the moment :)

Soooo my bladder woke me up at 4am this morning .... and I really didn't go back to sleep! Today is going to be a long day ... its almost 6am now and I gave up on trying to sleep about 45 minutes ago - will get a jump start on a report for work.
:crazy2:

Oh forgot to update on dietician visit. So when I said Keto she scrunched up her nose and pulled a face. I jumped on it straight away and said - I am not moving away from it so don't even try to convince me so unless you can help me make the most of Keto we can move on. She wants me to increase my soluble fibre intake with either psyllium or Metamucil and add some chia seeds. I looked up chia seed carb count and I can live with that. She said these things will held bind with the cholesterol to pull it out of my body. She did try to say oh Keto needs you to be really strict and if you stray it flips and your numbers and health benefits can go awry - my response - if I am going to go off the rails with any eating plan it will be to eat takeout and those unhealthy choices are going to derail my numbers no matter what I had been eating Keto, Vegetarian, MyPlate etc. I was firm that I was committed to this for now and wanted to see more of what it could do for me.

That happens to me if I wake up too close to "normal" time, too. Hang in there!

According to my endocrinologist, who is also a Lipidologist (lipid specialist), any diet is good as long as you're losing weight...since dietary cholesterol has very little effect on blood lipids and one of the most effective ways to lower cholesterol is to lose weight.

My Woohoo is having the day off! I treated myself to a Sparkling Ice sparkling water when I went to the grocery store today - I try not to go crazy with them, because they have a lot of sugar substitute that’s not good for you. They are DELICIOUS. I mostly buy them to take with me to the movies, so I can have a treat and avoid spending $300 on a giant soda...

Good for you for standing up to her! You know your body and what is working or not working!

Hello all,

I will get a jump start on Thankful Thursday .....

Well my day did not get all that better. I was visiting a school for work, didn't have my lunch with me so ducked out to a nearby organic café, ordered bacon and scrambled egg - it came with some baby spinach and grilled tomato. Looked yummy - added some salt and pepper. Ate it - tasted yummy - then on walk back to school kind of had a funny little scratchy, cough feeling in my throat - drank some water kept on going - got back to the school visited a couple of students, then went to the restroom - looked in the mirror red rash on throat with hives! aaaaahhhhh - go and ask some staff for antihistamine - luckily one lovely lady (whose daughter has severe allergies had some) I take it - some tingly lip sensation - then bang PANIC ATTACK. Haven't had a bad one in years. I was ready to flee to find me a doctor! This lovely lady who I disrupted from her usual work - sat with me and talked me through relaxation breathing for about 20 minutes to calm me down. Which I did finally and then sat quietly doing some video editing. I still had some of the rash this afternoon but not as angry. So I am SO THANKFUL to this woman who was so kind, understanding and helpful when I needed it. As all of the food is what I would usually eat no problems - I am wondering if it was something they prepared it in or the salt/pepper - the salt was not the normal white salt. I am going to call the café tomorrow to ask them about the ingredients to see if I can work it out a little more. Unfortunately, that meant I didn't walk this afternoon - but I did walk this morning and had done quite a bit of walking at work up until the attack... and dinner was OFF plan tonight. But that is ok - back at it tomorrow. I am supposed to be having a work breakfast at different café tomorrow morning - gotta say I'm a little nervous!
