Did you guys know that las vegas was going smoke free (almost) ? i was shocked my friend and i that went are non smokers and we were getting ready to "brace" ourself with all the smoke. But now all the resturants are somke free. All the shopping areas, check ins all the stuff in the hotel BUT the gaming area is smoke free, and also all the rooms (at least at the monte carlo) were smoke free.

i wondering how only smoking in the casions is going to work out.

Wow I'm glad to hear that. Its only a matter of time before they make it totally smoke free.

It's interesting. Here's some snippets of info from the review journal in Vegas.

The statewide law, which went into effect in Clark County after a Jan. 12 District Court order, forbids smoking in restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores and taverns that serve food. Casino floors, strip clubs and standalone bars are exempt from the ban -- a privilege that proprietors and even their customers say is making it difficult for smaller businesses to survive.

CASINOS COMPLYING WITH SMOKING BAN

No-smoking signs are in place inside 10 of MGM Mirage’s Strip resorts, indicating to visitors that they can’t light up in eateries, shopping centers, hotel lobbies, events centers or concert halls. Smoking is allowed on the casino floors and in outdoor areas, including pool complexes.

The policy is the same at Harrah’s, where no-smoking signs are posted inside convention centers and other areas outside casino floors.

Signs also are up in the affected areas of properties belonging to Station Casinos. The company’s no-smoking policy encompasses all restaurants, food courts and employee dining rooms. Also smoke-free now are hotel lobbies, hallways, meeting centers, back-of-the-house areas, restrooms and child-oriented areas such as bowling centers, arcades and movie theaters. Smoking is allowed on casino floors and in bars adjacent to casinos.

I don't think they will ever reach a point where smoking is totally banned in the casinos. I just don't see that happening. :confused3

i agree with this 100%

Even though smoking is allowed in the casinos they all seem to have good extraction units. DH & I are both non-smokers & were really surprised that after being in the casinos our clothes didn't smell of smoke. The usually do after a night out in a British pub.
