Here is our initial budget for DFTW:

(NOTE: There was a special promotion that came out right as we were about to switch from Escape to Wishes for anyone that signed a contract before the end of June, I think, for a wedding before Dec 16th. They were offering a 10% special discount on all food & beverage, floral, photography, and entertainment - excluding cake, alcoholic beverages, character appearances, etc. Also, if you used Disney for all photography, videography and floral, then the food and beverage discount would be increased to 15%. We're using Misty for photography, so our discounts are 10%)

Did you find it difficult to stay to the minimum while not cutting things you loved?

I also find these threads super helpful! it def helps to see all of the handling fees etc that you may forget to budget for!

Here is what I am looking at for 2010, so far

Wedding part:
Escape Package SBP 4750
Officiant 250
Upgraded floral, petals for aisle and to toss 200.00
extra champagne- (?) 100.00

Photography:
Outside vendor- 6 hours CD only1500.00
MK shoot 1000.00
Videography outside vendor- 1375.00

Luncheon/dinner
OHanas 768.00 (20 people w tip)
or Narcoosees 1935.00

Dessert Party
-this will ne either Welcome party or night of wedding, not sure yet, I feel like Ohanas & DP would be way too much food!

DP view fee (13$pp x 20 guests) 260.00
DP food (28pp x 20 guests) = 560.00
site fee (UK) 325.00
set up fee 75.00
DP photgraphy 350.00

Extra
over 20 guests fee (if we get more rsvps) 500.00
5 extra dinners OHanas 190.00
5 extra view fees 65.00
5 extra desserts- 140.00

So we are looking at a total budget range of 12408 - 13760for an Escape with everything that we want, we may cut out some extras, it still makes sense for us to so Escape because we want to use outside vendors for video & photos, whereas if we do wishes we would be at the 12k minimum add taxes your at almost 15, then on top of that wed have to add photos & vides with the vendors we want so we would be at 17-20 total with wishes.
Things we may have to cut to make the budget work-
Video
MK shoot
Outside photography

We still need to plan for invites, std's, rings, attire, dress steaming & make-up, accomodations & flights

May I ask which outside photographer you plan on using?

I finally put together the final numbers for our Disney wedding and I thought it might be helpful for anyone trying to decide if they can afford a Disney wedding or what type of wedding works with their budget. We had an original budget of $20,000 but we ended up going over by about $2,000, mainly because our budget needed to include our honeymoon and travel costs associated with the wedding.

Now, before we get into numbers, I need to make a huge disclaimer. I don't think these numbers necessarily reflect the average cost of the type of wedding that we had. I begged, borrowed, and nearly stole to get things to be as cheap as possible and I got really lucky with some of the deals I got, like my wedding dress. These prices reflect contracts I made in early 2008 and the prices for everything are likely to be higher now (perhaps much higher), especially for creative services like photography, videography, and hair/makeup. I also got discounts on a few things in exchange for free publicity on my blog.

Finally, Kyle and I skimped on a lot of things to make room in our budget for others. We didn't have a cake, we didn't have real flowers, we didn't have a rehearsal dinner, and the bride wore flip flops. So, before you look at our final number and say "I can do that!", remember that there's a lot of hard work and compromise that doesn't show up on this list.

So, without further ado, here are the final numbers for our Disney wedding:
All costs include tax and gratuity.

Oh, busted! I ended up going about $2000.00 over. I could make excuses here about how the rings shouldn't count (or at least my ring) because that wasn't part of the wedding planning and how I included the honeymoon costs, which were $1,463, and arguably that shouldn't have been included either. So, if I cheat and take off the things that were Kyle's responsibility (ring and honeymoon), then really I end up with a budget just under $19,000. But, you guys are smarter than that and you know that Kyle's money and my money isn't coming from two different places. It's all one big pot and that pot took a $22,000.00 hit when we decided to have a Disney wedding.

That being said, we both agree that it was the best $22,000.00 we've ever spent. In fact, there are a couple of additional things we would have splurged for, looking back, because it was such an amazing experience and we'll never be able to do it again. I won't tell you to break your budget if you really, really want your Disney wedding, because that's irresponsible. I'll just tell you that we aren't sorry at all that we broke ours. It was definitely worth it!

You can find more information about each aspect of the wedding and how we got it for that price here: http://budgetdisneywedding.blogspot.com/2009/05/cost-of-disney-wedding.html

I love your earrings!! Were they really only $8.00? Where did you get them?

That's because I didn't pay Disney for any of those things. :thumbsup2

Hair & Makeup: $150

Invites: Letterpressed by a friend as a wedding gift, so all I paid was about $60 to have the schedules and the folios that enclosed the invites printed and cut out.

Videographer: $1025

Photographer: $1700

None of these elements were taxed.

I noticed that it also didn't include a fee for using an outside photographer. I REALLY want to use your photographer but we were told we would be charged for using an outside photographer.

Did you find it difficult to stay to the minimum while not cutting things you loved?

I did find it difficult, I really really wanted Cinderella's Coach and I stressed about it for months. I am from the UK and at the time I got married the exchange rate was very poor and everyday I found myself cutting things out. I could have borrowed the money, but I'd be paying it back now and instead I'm going back to Disney on honeymoon in October. Now I've had my wedding, I wouldn't have done it differently, I had nearly everything I wanted and I never once thought about the coach on the day, I was too busy enjoying myself and noticing all the little things that I did have, like the Mickey's in my bouquet!

It also made it easier to be so close to the minimum because I only had 16 guests. :goodvibes

I would ask again - they did away with the outside photographer fee a long time ago (though it still turns up in contracts), and when I checked a few weeks ago, there was still no fee. :thumbsup2

Even when they did have a fee, I believe it was just for an event guide, which costs $90. Not a high price to pay for having great pictures!

Thank you for your honesty! I'm having 35 guests so staying to the 12k minimum is going to be hard but I'm determined to do it.

I'm having an Escape wedding... does that make a difference? I agree it is definitely worth the $90.

No difference! :) I'm going to PM you so I don't go too far off-topic.... :thumbsup2

We have booked Randy Chapman for our photography and there was no disney charge to have him. I asked about it and they said it is more for vendors that they don't know.

In a prior posting, I saw the cost under the Desert Party you have 27 viewing fee for a total of $12.50? Should that have been $12.50 each for a total of 337.50?

Correct - it should have been 27 x $12.50 plus 6.5% tax = $359.44. So that means we paid about $1,520 in tax and service charge on top of the $10,069 in actual goods and services we got. Interesting.... :cutie:
