Seeking vintage Disney matchbooks

I hope this is the right place to post this. Recently, I started my own little Disney matchbook collection. At this point I only have about 10 or so, but I'm looking to get a whole lot more. I plan on framing them and using them to adorn the walls of my apartment and the pace at which I've been able to acquire them thus far isn't exactly ideal. I'm watching as many ebay auctions as possible but I'm finding a lot of what is being posted, I already have. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has a collection or set of duplicates they're looking to part with. Not sure what I have to trade that people would be interested in, but I am flexible. Look forward to hearing from people!

I think I am the only matchbook collector in this section of the forum. Haven't seen anyone talking about them ever. Glad to see you have the same passion as me. As for framing them... I hope you have alot of money becuase your going to be buying alot of frames when you see how many there actually are ;) I didn't know what I got myself into till I hit 100 different matchbooks. Right now I have about 400-500+ and Im still going! I would think ebay is definatly your best bet buy them in lots and such. And fair warning, there are many collectors around the country. I have seen a a 1930's matchbox with Walter Disney on it holding a Mickey doll sell for $125. So they do get more expensive then what I am willing to pay. If you have any questions your more then welcome to ask, I am a frequent person here.

Woah, is that count of matchbooks including duplicates or all individual? I did research and right now I have a list of only about 50 or so individual ones I'm looking for. (At this point I've only bought 9 and have some duplicates.) You don't by any chance have a list of the ones you've collected yet do you?

The ones I do have are not duplicates. I unfortunatly do not have a master list. The biggest problem with matchbooks is how to display them. For the ones that have the matches taken out and are laid flat they can just be put in a binder of plastic sleeves. But the ones that are still completly intact are the hard part, I put them in sleeves but they are bulky. I tried display cases but they are $15 a piece and I would be 10+ of them. I will spread out my collection and take a few pictures in a little bit for you to look and see. :groom:

Also, so you know this isnt exactly the cheapest hobby out there. I have spent probably $2000+ on these ones. But I can definatly say its not the most expensive Disney collection either lol. Some people have too much money sometimes. So what you can do is possibly limit yourself to certain ones. WDW or DL or WWII ones or overseas. Its very cool also that alot of the rides in WDW had their own matchbooks (Verizon, Space Mountain, World of Motion etc...)

Yeah, I have an idea of how I want to display them, but who knows how it will work out. At this point, I'm trying to get a bigger collection so that I can frame similar matchbooks together.

I didn't realize there were ride matchbooks! I saw some from Epcot pavilions, but I figured that was it and the majority of the others were just hotels and restaurants. I can't wait to see what you have so I can add them to the list and slowly check them off one at a time!

Ok I got around to pulling them all out and snapping their pics. I think this is all of them their might be more but Idk. There may be a couple dupes in here or some with different designs and suchs. Oh of these days I will find a super way to organized them but that'll be for another day ;) Sorry if some of the pictures have glares. Oh, also there are a couple in there that are 'near Disney' im not a fan of those I just got them in a 'lot' of stuff, but I do like my militia ones, most of them have 'Walt Disney' on them. Disney helped design alot of the WWII insignias! Enjoy...!

:yay: Ok so these I believe are all I have. I hope you liked them! :yay:

Impressive! I never knew these were in existance.

Yes they are around just hard to find unless you find them on ebay. Even there it is hard to find now for me. I try to find them at yardsales in boxes of clutter. Thanks for viewing and I was bumping your comment down here since I mixed it in the middle of the pics ;)

Wowzas! Consider me impressed. There are definitely quite a few here that I didn't realize existed. This will be very helpful as I (slowly) grow my collection.

Hi! I've got a small collection too, although not a nice as yours materializedhaunt! I also have several extras and am interested in trading. I'll try to make a list or pics in the next few days, of what I have. I am really interested in the living seas-coral reef restaurant, if you have any extras. I'm from Florida originally and even worked at Magic Kingdom for a while-so I would love to complete my collection.
Please let me know how to contact you, I'm new to this site!
Thanks!::yes::

would love to PM you too but it seems this site requires me to have 10 posts to send PMs

that said and before any accusations of thread necromancy, the reasons for my desire to PM include an old matchbook my grandfather collected during one of his excursions to Florida

Namely, that he acquired a Lake Buena Vista Club book of matches with a special attribute

These matches have black heads with a gold powder on the tips - I couldn't help but notice you had two books of them in your collection.
