#SaveBurudika - Harambe Village Street Band Ending 10/13

ah yes. Fiscal year is ending, here come the yearly entertainment cuts. plus the yearly calls on Twitter and change.org petitions to "save" whatever entertainment got cut.

Contracted entertainment isn't that inexpensive, and every year when the contracts are renegotiated, something goes. Sometimes it's things you care about, and sometimes it isn't.

I like Burudika, they'll be missed.

FWIW, here was the response I received from an "executive correspondence specialist" when I emailed Guest Services and WDW leadership:

Dear Kaleido Family,

Thank you for your letter to George Kalogridis regarding the Walt Disney World Resort. Your correspondence was forwarded to me so that I may personally respond to you.

Innovation and creativity are at the heart of everything we do, and we are completely committed to offering all our Guests the most diverse, exciting, and fun experiences in a way that only Disney can do.

We are a constantly evolving travel destination and every day and every year we make adjustments to all that we offer based on a variety of factors such a seasonal demand and Guest feedback. We hope you agree that we have an outstanding track record of creating new and innovative Attractions and entertainment offerings.

For the most up to date information regarding all of the exciting new offerings at the Walt Disney World Resort, we invite you to visit the Disney Parks Blog.

Kaleido Family, thank you again for writing to us. We look forward to future opportunities to entertain you and your family.

This is a bad move. Just like when they removed Off Kilter. I predict that there will be a lot of complaints on 10/14 going forward.

Exactly what I expected. "Thank you for the feedback. We are constantly evolving and changing our shows. Some will like the change. Some won't. That's not going to change anything."

This thread had me missing Off Kilter, so I decided to put in on YouTube while I was cleaning. There was an ad for WDW on before it started. Felt rather ironic...

Count me among those that would be really disappointed in this - so much a part of the atmosphere in AK...definitely a lot of fun memories of taking rest breaks and listening to them and watching the dancing.

I love these performers!

We make time to visit them each trip. Some of my favorite memories are dancing with the band/dancers. Having a drink at the bar and just enjoying the atmosphere.

My e-mail has just been sent to Disney. It would be so sad to see them not at AK anymore.

This is a spin-off from this thread, or maybe my own rant - not sure.

I'm usually not one to partake in 'change outrage' - it's inevitable... attractions come and go, entertainment comes and goes, favorite CMs come and go. It's just part of the fabric of WDW. We move on.

Evidently Burudika, the Harambe Village Street Band at DAK will be ending 10/13. This news has been bugging me more than most and I've been trying to process my opinion on the matter.

For those on Twitter, #SaveBurudika has been popping up quite a bit in my timeline over the last few days with lots of posts of favorite pictures and videos of their performances. It has served as a nice reminder of just how much we have enjoyed that little corner of WDW in our travels and the fond memories we have of our children at various ages dancing around to the music. Or when we've stopped for a beverage or two at Dawa Bar and enjoyed the sights/sounds of their shows.

I rarely feel the need to write to Disney with my opinion of their park offerings, but if so inclined, options include:

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or

George Kalogridis
President of Walt Disney World
407-828-2600
george.kalogridis@disney.com

Thanks.
Done. Thank you, and totally agree.

I was sad when the shaman left ROL, but this is worse!

If this is correct, that is too bad as I always enjoyed their shows. Lots of energy,, and a nice break in the afternoon.
If the date is correct, we will miss them by about a week.
maybe they will have something else to replace them with.
Although, in Canada, when one band leaves it seems like a long break before another group starts. And yes, another who misse Off Kilter.

This is exactly the same response (except for my name) that I got this week when I emailed my displeasure regarding cancelling Great Moments in History. Nice to see they’re taking these so seriously 🤨

Makes me so sad to think that they are going away.... especially if there is no replacement!! We have enjoyed all the different shows/entertainment in that section of the park. My daughter, a music teacher, has always dreamed of visiting Africa to experience the music and culture first hand. And I believe one day she will!! Disney has gone too far with cutting all these types of entertainment! :(
