RE-OPENING! -- all resorts will open by year-end

My daughter and I went to Disney Springs yesterday and as long as you were not moving around and outside you could remove your mask. I found it rather amusing that the stores only have one entry door and someone is physically there to count you but all the other doors are exits and while there is someone to make sure nobody comes in that door they don't have a device to remove you from the count.
I heard they do count you as you leave you might not know they are counting as you leave

Exactly. A human is needed at the entrance as a gatekeeper, but a sensor/machine can notify when people are leaving (or rather when a large enough object crosses the sensor's path at the exit) and wirelessly notify the human gatekeeper another human-ish-object has left the exit.

Or a single human, manning a bank of security camera video feeds could communicate with the gatekeeper as well. Probably technology that is already in place, and regularly staffed... 😉

Hi, lanejudy. I thought this info might help. I like how the LaughingPlace website put everything together you have done in your thread here posting and updating on the regular Disability Forum. I had been posting on the Disability Community Forum about how things might change for wheelchair/mobility scooter users, too. But thought it might help here.

Are we getting the New Harry Potter experience? LOL

I have updated the first post with a summary of info WDW posted last night (6/6/2020) as well as a link to the WDW site with more detail.

Those with June reservations may be receiving an email to confirm/modify/cancel their reservation. No further info about reservations after July 4th.

No further info about the park reservation system.

So Stormalong Bay won't be available during the time when resorts open, but not theme parks?! Although I can understand it (it's shared by the entire Yacht and Beach Club complex, but only BCV are open), I predict that a few (or more) guests who were holding reservations during that time before the parks open may now wish they'd cancelled. It's too bad Disney wasn't able to announce this more than 30 days in advance.

Correct, SAB will not open immediately, but the leisure pool at BCV will be open. YC and the hotel side of BC will not be open initially, either. No word on when any of those will open. Folks with June reservations at BC/YC will be given an opportunity to upgrade to a DVC unit (no choice of which), reschedule, or cancel, WDW has extended package PIF/cancellation to 7 days prior to arrival thru October; room-only is standard 5-day.

Haven't seen where they will be misting areas to take masks off. They said they will be using the old smoking areas. All the parks already have a place with misting fans. We will be going on the passholder preview day.

I'd be surprised if they had the misting fans on at this point. Moisture combined with air flow - great way to spread the virus, be careful!

Disneyland Launches Webpage For Updated Reopening Information

Last Updated: June 10, 2020

We are pleased to announce our proposed plans for a phased reopening of the Disneyland Resort.
  • July 9 — Downtown Disney District
Pending state and local government approvals:
  • July 17 — Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park
  • July 23 — Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel

Enhanced Health and Safety Measures

As we prepare for this phased reopening, we’ve made some updates based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies. These enhanced health and safety measures are designed to promote:
  • Cleanliness
  • Physical distancing
  • Reduced contact
While it may be a bit different from the last time you visited, we’ve come up with new ways to create magical moments

Reopening with a New Park Reservation System
Pending state and local government approvals, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will begin a phased reopening on July 17, 2020.
The Disneyland Resort will reopen with some important updates to promote physical distancing, including:
  • Park Reservations: Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, we will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.
  • New Ticket Sales: At this time, we are also temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals. Additional details will be provided soon.
  • Hotels of the Disneyland Resort: Pending governmental approval, Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests will once again enjoy being immersed in the magic when Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopen to Guests and members starting on July 23, 2020. The Disneyland Hotel will open at a later date. Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of our hotels and the Disney Vacation Club.
Upon reopening, certain theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or even closure based on guidance from health experts and government officials. Furthermore, certain attractions, experiences, services and amenities will be modified, have limited availability or remain closed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds. Please also see our policies regarding cancellations by Guests.
Additionally, select attractions and certain experiences that draw large group gatherings—such as parades and nighttime spectaculars—will return at a later date. While character meet-and-greets will be temporarily unavailable, Characters will be in our parks in new ways to entertain and delight our Guests. The Disneyland Resort will also have capacity measures in place, as well as limitations on parking and operating hours.
Given this unprecedented situation, we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate through this process as responsibly as we can. Additional measures and procedures will be announced closer to the opening date.

I'm torn over whether to take my chances and keep my Sept. 6 reservations or try to change (again) to Oct. or Nov. when reservations open up. My original trip was scheduled for May. We had to reschedule, got the FD Recovery package for September, but the package was changed again, as everyone elses was. We are taking my 86 year old mom this year and having the grand kids that live in California meet us there for a sort of a reunion. This trip is on her bucket list and because of her age and the fact that she has mild CHF in addition to some other, not at the moment life threatening issues, we just can't afford to wait too much longer. We are already worried that the heat might be too much for her, that there might be a hurricane threatening our trip, etc., but now there is this reservation system that does NOT guarantee you access to the theme parks. Why in the world would anyone want to go all the way down there, spend all that money, and not visit the parks every day of their reservations, especially with an elderly women along for the trip?? So we are sort of between a rock and a hard place with this. I guess we'll have to just wait and see how this goes when they open in July and plan accordingly. This time around is the first time I've had to visit the DIS abilities board and all of you have been so helpful! I hope the winds blow a bit of pixie dust on all of us and we all have a wonderful trip (and that we all stay healthy through this mess as well)! Thank you for letting me vent! :)

:welcome:

I'm hopeful that once they are open, a *lot* of our questions will be answered 🙂 Having said that, if you need any other help or information, start a new topic, and we will all help as much as we can!

It will be very interesting to see how the opening goes and if they make adjustments quickly as they go along. Thank you mamabunny! :)

Post #1 has been updated with the updated health screening info posted yesterday. It looks very similar to what many employees must answer daily to enter workplaces that have re-opened, as well as many medical/dental offices.

Guests must have an ADR to visit a resort in which they are not staying (and highly recommended even if it is the resort in which you are staying). Here is a list of resort dining locations expected to open initially:

BLT @ CR
BRV and CCV @ WL
AKV Kidani
BCV
BWV
Ft Wilderness
OKW
Poly Villas & Bungalows
Riviera
SSR
VGF
Online ADRs are available already for Disney Springs locations.

At this point, it is still unknown which in-park dining options will be available next month.
