I am told there are two "Formal Nights" on a RCL 8 night cruise. Any thoughts on just how formal most people are? Is it shirt and tie formal? Sport coat formal? Or just Dockers and a polo?

Friends just off Allure a week ago. Sadly ( to me atleast) their were men in shorts and collar shirts in Chops, and at the main dining room and more for Formal nights.
There were also people dressed up, suits, sports coats , long dresses and lots of capris for women.
Disappointing to me , we ll still do what we like. I actually enjoy the entire formal night
Dress up and typically dress up during every dinner ( no gowns) regardless.
Perhaps it depends on ship? And time of year??

We were on Allure 4/14-4/21. We had 2 formal nights. We dined in Giovanni's and Chops on the formal nights. I don't remember seeing anyone in shorts in Chops, but I'm sure there were a few. Ladies were mainly in nice capris or dresses- a few in evening gowns. Men were in polos, shirts, shirts with sport coat, some suits, and a few tuxedos.

Here's a picture of us on a formal night. We were probably in the middle as far as our clothing choices. Some were more casual, others were very formal. So, whatever you are comfortable with should be fine.

I’m generally dressed like Patty’s husband on formal nights, although I prefer button up shirts to polos.

My general impression is that the majority of people dress nice, but not necessarily to the nines. So whatever you’ve been used to wearing on DCL will play on RCI.

I will wear a tie for both formal nights. Depending on how sunburnt I am and the day's excursion... I might skip the sportscoat/suit.

My husband and I don't enjoy formal dress up. The most we would do is he will wear khakis with a dress shirt and tie. I always wear black slacks and a dressy top. Sometimes he will wear a polo shirt with khakis instead. Last time we cruised on Symphony, we just went to Windjammer that night for dinner, so didn't have to dress up at all.

No one cares how you dress. You will see everything from people in shorts to people in formal dresses and tuxes.

As several of the PP's have sated, the range of dress on formal nights can be very broad. We sailed on the Allure a month ago and saw everything from tuxedos to polos. Do whatever makes you happy.
