we will be going to Disney World in October. Our 12 yr old son will be in his wheelchair which he cannot get out of. He’s too heavy to pick up. What attractions can he get on?

Our 13 yr old daughter has autism and will start injuring herself and possibly others if agitated. Can the DAS help this?

Neither child eats by mouth. Does Disney Dining Plan still insist all part members participate?

Which is cheaper/easier.......renting a chair for our daughter at Disney or buying a folding chair and trying to fly with it?

Thanks.

The disABILITIES FAQs thread has information about which attractions have an accessible vehicle not requiring a transfer.

You can enquire about DAS at Guest Relations in the park. You should be prepared to discuss your daughter's needs as related to waiting in a standard queue environment. Be aware that DAS won't eliminate all queues -- the FP+ line is generally shorter but can be as much as 20+ minutes, and DAS has no bearing on waits for transportation or dining, and many of the shows will still have a crowded pre-show area even with DAS.

I would recommend renting a wheelchair from an off-site vendor if you don't wish to purchase one. Purchasing may be close to the same price, depending on the length of your trip. And you would have it for other times (not WDW).

Enjoy your vacation!

Everybody on the room reservation must be on the (same) Dining Plan.

Dining Plan is not necessarily best option for everyone.

Easiest is whatever works best for you.

If your daughter uses a chair at home and you don't want to bring it or buy a foldable one, I would highly recommend renting from an off-site vendor for the duration of your stay; cheaper than renting from Disney, and you can get one that fits her better/is more comfortable.

As far as I know, everyone on the reservation has to be on the dining plan...in your case, that would not be a good value.

Yes, everyone in the same room must have the dining plan. Consider what meals you’d like — many of the buffet/family style character meals will charge everyone at the table. Crunch the numbers to see if a dining plan is “worth it” for your family. We typically put an amount on a gift card to use for meals - same prepaid feeling but ends up costing less.

Enjoy your vacation!

We also use the gift card method for dining, adding a little each month leading up to the trip. That gives us much more freedom to eat as we like, often sharing a meal so we can save room for fun snacks. The dining plan would not be a good value at all for us.
Hope you have a wonderful trip!
