In conjunction with my ECV frustration was the search for available outlets in the parks to charge my failing ECV. Straw last night for me was the failing battery, finally finding an outlet at EPCOT, struggling to plug in and discovering it was a DEAD OUTLET!!! Maybe Disney could issue a map with the available outlets???

I noticed several outlets right outside some restrooms in Epcot WS (specifically I noticed at Norway, the US, and I think it was United Kingdom. They were in the covered area, like the lobby, so you could go there, charge and get out of the rain at the same time. I also saw an outlet at the exit from the "Finding Nemo" show. There was one guy who said that he always goes to the show so that he can recharge his ECV! But I agree, it would be awesome if there was a map showing charging locations, especially now where cell phones are used so much.

The bad part about trying to find outlets all the time is that not only are you spending an inordinate amount of time searching for a working outlet, but you are also giving up time to try and top up a battery; it's costing you your vacation.

This is just speculation on my part, but I would guess that the reason that (working) outlets aren't marked on a map is because Disney knows that the outlets would be overrun with people trying to recharge phones, tablets, medical devices and mobility devices. So instead of people enjoying the parks, you would see them clustered around outlets on light poles, next to bathrooms, etc. - and inevitably, there would be the "I need it worse than you" issue that would crop up, given the number of self-entitled Guests we all see.

There is also a potential liability issue for Disney - if a child were to stick a finger (or something else) in an outlet, if you (or any other Guest) were to plug in a device, and the device is shorted out and damaged or ruined, or if a Guest were to plug in a device that causes damage to Disney property.

I doubt we will ever see random outlets listed on a map; it would be more surprising to me if we don't increasingly see outlets switched off during operating hours (and only available to CMs after hours) and the creation of more "charging stations" (like MK/Storybook Circus or the MK/Rapunzel Bathrooms).

Another trick Disney is using on charging is to have three hole outlets when my charger takes two. Most devices take two also. I carry a three/two converter now. Most cell phone users won’t want to carry an extra plug. Where as ECV users have more space for little extras.

We are at WDW now so will try to work on a basic list of plug in for all four parks.

Just be wary with using random outlets- they are meant for heavy machinery, and can damage electronic. MK does have designated charging stations though (in Fantasyland, Storybook Circus, and Tomorrowland)

We usually plug in during dinner. The cast members are very helpful in finding an outlet for us.

There are dedicated charging stations in the Rapunzel bathroom area (Fantasyland),Tomorrowland and Dumbo’s Circus area at MK , as others mentioned.

On our last trip, I noticed there were outlets built into couches in a seating area in Epcot. They were inside the Epcot Character Spot building, near the exit of Club Cool

The Tomorrowland charging area which is in the back area of the store attached to Space Mountain is particularly nice. It is inside and had both electrical outlets and USB ports so the phone people and the mobility people are both accommodated.

The outlets at WDW were designed for CM use with heavy equipment, etc. I would check with your rental company (if you rented) to see if they could come and switch out your battery if it isn't making it through the day.

Honestly, the reason the outlets seem to be dead are because they are designed to use a different voltage than normal outlets and could damage things plugged into it that weren't designed to work with the power being supplied, so they turn off the outlets to prevent damage to guest's equipment. Pretty much the only place that can charge ECVs are the ECV rental locations now.

Are you plugging in your ECV properly overnight? Is it a rental?

Honestly, it sounds like it needs new batteries. If it's a rental, I would call and have them change them out. You should not run out of power during the day.

I have rented countless times, and now have my own ECV, and none of them has ever moved to less than 75% battery charge after long days at the parks. We always do 10-12 hour days and often park hop. I put lots and lots of miles on a scooter in a day.

Reading this it seems people are talking about charging stations for ecv’s. Is that correct and if so where are they?

    not specifically for ECVs.
There are some locations in different parks where seating areas have outlets available for plugging things in for changing.

Sometimes outlets are in the floor covered with a round disk that usually has a slot that a coin can be used to unscrew.

Get and bring a "3 prong to 2 prong adapter." This will act like an extender for a fat plug to reach an outlet that is quite far down in the floor.

Where would someone using a vacuum cleaner plug that in? That question (no need to ask it out loud) might suggest where outlets might be found.

Power from a "heavy duty" outlet, assuming the power is of the proper voltage, will not damage light duty equipment. By code, a 240 volt outlet has a different plug prong arrangement so a 120 volt plug won't fit.

We had a problem with an ECV our last day, 2 hours before the dessert party at EPCOT. We went to the ECV rental place. They let Pop pull way up and plugged his charger in one of their outlets. Very friendly, very helpful, and after an hour his battery was doing much better. We mad it to the dessert party and it stayed charged all the way back to the Beach Club. Just wanted to give an additional option.
