We are planning a trip for April of this year and we were considering adding a day at Knotts to the end of our stay at the DLH and staying at the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel the last night or two of our trip. For those of you who have checked out Knotts Berry Farm, was it worth it? Is one day enough? Or would 2 days be better? Also, any input on the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel would be great, too! Thanks so much!!!

Honestly, I would rather stay at Disneyland those extra days I personally don’t think Knotts is worth it. If you’re dead set on going somewhere else Universal Studios is more fun in my opinion. Have a great trip!! I’m sure whatever you choose you’ll have fun, everyone is different . That’s just what I would do.

If you do Knotts or Universal I would do it first and end with Disney. Everything else pales in comparison to Disney.

A small bit of advice; if your going to Knotts, do so before you go to DLR or else it can be a real let down.
DLR is that much nicer! (cleaner, themed better, etc)

    So here's my opinion.
Spend your time and money at Disneyland.
If you feel you need to experience another location during your visit to DLR, go to Universal Studios Hollywood.

One of the grandkids asked to spend a day at Knott's on a trip about 5 years ago.
Now if you have a strong urge to go to Knott's, here's my recommendations.
Go at the beginning of the trip or a day in the middle of your Disneyland trip.
Do not pay full price for a ticket to Knott's. I felt cheated when I did.
My teenage grandkids only lasted 4 hours at Knott's before they asked "when are we going back to Disneyland"
Here is a link to Knott's promotion page. They have a variety of offers through out the year. Check it right before you go.

Universal Studios Hollywood is a better option if you're looking to add something to a Disney trip.
One day is okay. However, if you're trying to ride all the rides, see all the shows and take the tram tour, two days would be better.
If doing more than one day, stay up in the area around Universal.
While I prefer to end a trip at DLR, I could live with ending the trip at Universal Hollywood.

As mentioned nothing compares to Disneyland.

    Good Luck

I grew up with Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland. Loved them both.....BUT it is not the same Knott's Berry Farm :(
We went back 5-6 years ago and haven't been since and no desire to go anymore. So disappointing.

Knott's is a one day park but a lot of fun. They do Halloween FAR better than Disney. Disney has got nothing on Knott's when it comes to Halloween. If you like real thrill rides and roller coasters you will love Knott's. It blows Disneyland and Universal away for true thrill rides. It is also much cheaper than Disney and Universal. But overall, when all things are considered, Disney is the superior experience and I agree with many of the others here and say you should go to Knott's before Disneyland. If you do go to Knott's buy your tickets online and save $$. Also you must go to the restaurant in front of Knott's and get the fried chicken. That restaurant is fantastic.

Knotts is definitely a one day park. I like it. It is good for bigger coasters, and because of that I would go if you had older kids that like the big coasters. Their wooden coaster is fantastic. The jam they sell is excellent as well. My younger son had a blast at their carnival games; Disney hasn't changed the prizes in so long that even we have them all, so he was really excited that they had more games and some different prizes. I also really like the fossil store they have at the entrance to the park. It's not Disney, but it's still awesome.

Thank you for all the feedback!! I appreciate it so much. My daughters are 3 and 5 so not ready for thrill rides so that was good to know. If we do go to Knotts, maybe we can start our trip there and end at DL and we'll definitely stick to one day if we go! Thanks again for all help :)

With your girls so young, you might want to check the Knott's website for ride height restrictions.
While height restrictions are generally for being a certain height or taller, some of the rides in Camp Snoopy will have a height Maximum.

With kids that young they are probably not going to enjoy the thrill ride roller coaster centric Knotts Berry Farm as much as older kids would. And Disney makes adding those last few days from 3-5 so cheap that I would just add to your Disney days of possible. I think your kids are at the perfect ages to fall in love with Disneyland! I would just take it slow and let them call the shots.

Knotts is historic and fun in it's own way, but definitely better for 10-18 year old crowd.

    Have fun planning!

I just want to second what pp are saying about height. We went when our boys were 9, 7 & 2. My oldest had a blast, youngest enjoyed 2 rides at Camp Snoopy and the train ride and middle son liked panning for gold and thats it. He was too tall for Camp Snoopy and he does not enjoy thrill rides. While Knotts is fun and has many fun shops, it is really not a park for the 7 and under crowd. Having been now, we will not be returning until our youngest is at least 9. If you do choose to go, one day is plenty and buy discounted tickets online.

Knotts has Camp Snoopy which is geared towards the smaller guests.. and then you have a carnival type game area.. there are a couple of train rides that the kids could enjoy and of course Mrs Knotts famous Chicken restaurant. (they also have a take out store just a store front further down the strip. much cheaper) We like Knotts.. its very different from DL . we do Disney for 2 to 3 days,, have a day off, Do Knotts and then our last two days are Disney.. because most people are doing Disney Knotts tends to not be as busy.. so it is a one day park.. parksavers . com have tickets currently at $59. gate price is about $70. these prices are for March until August

With kids those age knots is pointless imo. Maybe a half day. Dh and I went there about 7 years ago. Lame. Half day And we’d ridden everything. Atmosphere is zero. Add a Disney day.

I love Knotts and go frequently but your kids are too young to really enjoy the best of what Knotts has to offer. I would skip Knotts and add something else if you want a day away from Disney. Adventure City, Discovery Cube, or maybe even a night at the Great Wolf Lodge?

Growing up our usual family routine was Knott's on the day we drove down. Half day in the park then chicken dinner in the evening :) It's been a very long time since we have visited Knotts, I think the rapids were new the last time I was there. Considering it for an upcoming trip, primarily to see the Hillbillies :)

we love Knotts, coming over from the UK, it is a nice break from Disney and Universal. Yes the rides are not as good, but the park has a good laid back atmosphere, also Knotts Scary farm (IMO) is way better than Horror Nights.

    Just stay at Disney.

With kids at ages 3 and 5 you will not find much of anything for them to do at Knotts. They will be relegated to the Camp Snoopy section which is just a bunch of kiddy carnival rides, nothing unique or interesting enough to justify the $50+ admission price.

If you are looking for another theme park in SoCal to do Universal and Legoland would be better as most of their rides have hight restrictions 40" and below.

Once you kids reach 48'' I think Knotts becomes a option in the future.
