Open VMK?!

I just wanted to check in and see if anyone beleived my post that ovmk was a real game coming.
so far, so good on ovmk! it has lots of problems, no different than the disney version.
It is a blast. I already made a room and hosted my own game xoxoxox
er, except everyone got dc before i could give a prize. its so fast that i didnt even get their names to later give out prizes. LOL

I realize it may not last long, but I'm having a FABULOUS time connecting with friends! :cool1:

They are working on server issues, like people being kicked! They will get it fixed soon. pirate:

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm impressed. The game runs great, the server issues have been ironed out, and everything just... works. I'm extremely intrigued as to how the developers programmed the game. And in Shockwave, nonetheless. I heard a rumor that the original VMK client was used. But how is that possible? VMK was not a game you downloaded, and it definitely wasn't open source. Guess I'll just have to ponder that one.

hi guys! been quite a while.. miss you all very much.. hope to see some of you in game!! :) happy vmking

OVMK has been closed for a few days, so they can iron out some staffing issues. On a bright note they have "hired" GPDOT as one of the developers! Hope to see you all in game soon :)

And Jared. Who I can only assume is Oatman. Which might not be as bad as it sounds. I'm glad they are starting to take things seriously though. Still worrisome.

So apparently there was an "incident" in which Amy (co-developer) released the Stitch hat when she wasn't supposed to. And then, overnight, the rest of the team discovered suspicious files (read: viruses) planted within the game. So basically, Amy has been working on the game with malicious intent this whole time.

Not to be a pessimist, but this echos the demise of VMK Unleashed.

Just want to mention the latest update on this, from their official announcements:

As you all know, our current development team has been investigating the situation that occurred recently with Amy. After further investigation, we realized that the game files we suspected of being malicious are not.

At this time we are working through any issues that may exist and hope to bring back peace and harmony soon.
So apparently a false alarm, but glad they are erring on the side of caution.

Well, I suppose that's good that it was just a false flag. Here's to smooth sailing here on out...

Just so everyone has access to the other side of the story, I'm posting these:
Amy's side explanation on Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/amy0436/b/461688909
Amy's side explanation on YouTube (Longer and more detailed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7dJLL8Rs-k
The chatlog from Twitch, which talks more in depth about certain things. Oh yea, and people are mean to Amy about a certain subject: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dtz30QlbcAE8JvwsvxuwutzGulonbkzIwz5dHlF0QoE/edit

To me, it sounds like Grace just wanted Amy out, took advantage of a certain file being larger than it should, and claimed they were being cautious.
Others seem to agree: http://bringamyback.blogspot.com/

I do believe Amy. :flower3:

Don't believe everything you read on the OVMK forum. ;)

Well, it appears the server hosting the game was deliberately taken offline, while the OpenVMK forums have been sealed off for the past few hours. 1 week... it lasted 1 week before immaturity took its toll.

*sigh* teenagers... :p
