**STILL working on the trip changes (Argh!! Not enough time in the day) but we are getting closer to a more complete picture of the final project. Although I DID have to add some money to the budget because I had the dining amounts for Chili's, Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse from our last trip when both my teens ordered off of the kid's menu. **Man, are we broke!! I have $80 for food and gasoline for the rest of the month and a mere $5 in cash for MISC spending. Told ya it was a pretty spendy month so far!

I should explain that it's not as bad as it sounds. We actually have a good amount of food in the house as I've been working on food storage for several months now. However, I came down with a cold Monday night and I had no energy for cooking come dinner time most days of this week. I managed to hang on until Wednesday night, when I broke down and ended up running to Shopper's Drug Mart (of ALL places ) for some convenience type foods (which was bad for the waistline AND the budget) and then today (finally back on the hoof somewhat) I ran and did my usual weekly shopping but I doubled up on several things (pretty much anything shelf stable or that could be tossed into the freezer), so that next week I can just get produce and dairy and be done.

So that $80 should be enough to see us through the rest of April...I just have no margin of error in the budget which always makes me feel .

Anyway, I am tantalizingly close to having all the money for the Disney package and it feels

***Sooooo....the Canadian dollar has dropped....or the American dollar has risen...either way I had to add three cents to the dollar for the exchange rate, so my totals increased. I was able to trim back the budget a bit by getting very specific about certain things and double and triple checking stuff so I didn't have to round up as much, so the damage is not as big as it should have been.

Anyway, we now have all the money for the "base" part of the cruise and for the Disney package and now I can focus on the "extras" now. We need about $3325 CAD for the rest of the trip costs. And we have a big lump sum of $1000 in both July AND August going towards the trip, which will bring the amount I need to save/earn down to a mere $1335...so the totals going forward are going to reflect that. So excited!

Hooray! Finally had some survey luck on QuickRewards. I have been striking out left, right and center for AGES now!! I don't know what it is about April, May and June but for some reason...despite all attempts to budget and account for everything...unexpected expenses just keep cropping up! I was supposed to have about $20 go towards the trip this past Friday but alas...it was needed elsewhere. And I already know about a $25 field trip for my daughter that needs to be paid by the end of the month, so I have to wiggle that amount out of the budget as well! Ah well! I'm doing pretty well here so far, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

I know I'm hoping to do an extra small trip to Universal Orlando, as a graduation gift to our son next spring. We have not been there yet, and it would be a great graduation gift. So I'm starting to save for this ( as we have saved enough now for the dd's wedding - also next spring ) So I'm hoping I can convince the dh that it is a quick doable trip that they boys will love!!!

Yikes indeed!! Technically it's not a FIELD trip in that they aren't leaving the school...they are paying to bring in a professional for her P.E. class to teach them self defense and personal safety. So, the guy is coming in to teach her class for the whole week and it works out to $25 a kid. Pricey, but I guess I get it.
