We disembarked from back to back cruises on the Magic this Wednesday. On one of our last days on the ship, a gentleman installed a modem behind our TV and told me the Magic would have on demand after the upcoming drydock. Nice upgrade in my opinion.

We had new drawer style safes in our cabins. Loved them. In three of the four cabins we were in, there was a small leather tray for jewelry, etc.. Loved that, too. Our last cabin did not have the tray and the room attendant wasn't familiar with them. It was her guess that the trays hadn't been distributed to deck five yet???

Service was great as always. It is our custom to have breakfast and lunch in Lumber's whenever possible. I did notice that we were always asked if we wanted our ice teas refilled rather than just bringing us new ones. Sensible change I thought.

On-demand and a new restaurant! Cool! :P

Thanks for the quick update! We'll be sailing the Magic this summer!

Happy sailing! :boat:

Awesome news! My DD loved relaxing to the on demand movies after long port days and at night before bed.

Two in our family love watching Disney movies in the cabin at times, too.

On-demand and a new restaurant! Cool! :P

Yes, and they were already working on Carioca's. Our embarkation lunch on the 1/26 cruise was in Lumiere's. A crew member told me that was because they were working on Carioca's. It was open for dinner, of course. On our last night, I had trouble sleeping because I could hear pounding on metal. :headache: I guess they were demolishing something but wish they had chosen a different time!

Thank goodness! My dd was sick our last cruise and basically laid in bed watching Hocus Pocus over and over. I felt bad for her.

Poor child.

Hope this actually happens. I remember hearing that the infrastructure on the Magic and Wonder was to old to add on demand tv in. It would be great if they figured out a way.

I think you can count on it. Can't imagine they would go to the expense and trouble of placing modems in each cabin unless they were confident it would work. Not to say there may not be some hiccups as it is fine-tuned. There were two Cisco guys down the hall from us. Perhaps it was their project.

I wish they'd add this to the Wonder in time for our June cruise to Alaska. So glad the Magic is getting it!

My guess is the Wonder will get on demand at the next dry dock, don't you think?

I’m still crossing my fingers for the magic portholes. We’re on the Magic in an ocean view in April.

But if you're sailing oceanview, you wouldn't get a magic porthole. I agree those would be great in the inside rooms.

I was on the same sailing and noticed a box mounted on the cabinet wall behind the TV. I thought it was something new but I didn't know what it was for. Thanks for the info.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but was it ever confirmed if the Magic now has on-demand TV?

We were on the Magic right after dry dock and one of my favorite updates was being able to check our onboard account on the tv.

We sailed in September on the
Magic and had on demand. Happy Sailing!
Thank you for sharing this! I had no idea! It was one of the things I grumbled about on the Wonder, mostly because we had so much time at sea (repo Vancouver to San Diego). I'm SO excited to know we will have it in the Med! Even though it will likely be our heaviest Port Adventure sailing ever, it will at least be nice to drift off to sleep!

Is there a cost for on-demand movies?
Nope! And the selection is vast. Pretty much the entire Disney and marvel catalog that would normally be available on DVD. Plus some adult (not that kind of adult) movies and quite a few shows from the Disney channel.
