This is a quick report - I’ll add more and copy it to the rooms thread later. My pictures are too big to upload, so I need to make them smaller before I csn add them.

We stayed in a renovated wheelchair accessible 1 bedroom OKW villa with a tub.
We had reserved a room with a roll in shower, but there was a mix up. The building we were assigned to had just opened after the renovation and it had been incorrectly coded.
We were offered a room with a roll in shower in another location, but decided to stay with this room - 2715

It had a lot of nice details that were not present before.
- Little ramps at the front door and at the patio door leading to the porch.

- A pull out cabinet in the kitchen. It moved very easily and when it was pulled out, it left a roll under counter

- side by side refrigerator/ freezer and counter top microwave

- switch next to the stove to turn on range hood vent and light

- roll under sinks with shelf space in the bathroom (OKW has two sinks)

- sliding doors to master bedroom, closet and bathroom. These were very easy to slide

- front loading washer and dryer

- lots of grab bars which doubled as towel bars

My guess is that the renovated roll in shower rooms will be exactly the same, but will have a roll in shower where the tub is (the tub is in the same place as the roll in shower).
The toilet was turned compared to where it was in the old roll in shower rooms.

Sounds like they are finally seeing the light at WDW with accessibility - so many more options/combinations so that there's a chance of finding everything you might need on property somewhere!

Will there be more than 2 total accessible rooms at OKW?
I don’t understand your question.
Are you asking about 2 types of accessible rooms, total number of accessible rooms or domething else?

Thank you, Sue. Great info.

They have the same number of accessible units as before. If they only had two to begin with, I've stayed in both of them. That 's not possible. Especially since mine were both studios, while Sue's was a one-bedroom.

There are 761 total units; while accessible rooms in relation to total rooms aren't regulated by the ADA, more than 4/10 of one percent would, reasonably, be accessibld.

I thought they were regulated - here's a chart:

(Table 9.1.2)

Column "A" Column "B"
Total Rooms in Facility Accessible Rooms Rooms with Roll-in Showers

1 to 25 1 0
26 to 50 2 0
51 to 75 3 1
76 to 100 4 1
101 to 150 5 2
151 to 200 6 2
201 to 300 7 3
301 to 400 8 4
401 to 500 9 See below*
501 to 1000 2% of total rooms See below*
1001+ 20 + (1 per 100 over 1000) See below*
Note: The number of accessible guest rooms for a given number of rooms in a hotel (left column) is derived by adding together column "A" and column "B".
* the number of roll-in shower rooms in hotels with more than 400 guestrooms total equals 4 + (1 per 100 rooms over 400).

Okay, the chart kind of scrunched up, but you can see the titles to the columns and figure it out, hopefully. If OKW has 761 units, then 2% of the total rooms have to be accessible, I think?

(And it's from this website: https://www.ada.gov/hsurvey.htm#anchor401170 )

08E6A672-0DB9-4A46-8FD7-6ECA889FF587.jpeg The ADA does have specific requirements regarding the number and type of accessible rooms. This is a screenshot of the current requirements (2010 changes to the ADA, which took effect for new construction or alterations started after March 15, 2012.

It’s a bit difficult to say the total number of OKW accessible rooms because of the ways the villas can be configured.
There are approximately 64 accessible rooms at OKW (so more than 3% of the total), but some of them are double counted because of how the villas can be configured.

And, there are also ADA requirements for every type of room to have accessible options.
There are dedicated 2 bedroom units.
But, there are also 2 bedroom lock-offs, which can be rented as a 2 bedroom or have the connecting doors between them locked so they can be occupied by separate guests as a 1 bedroom and a studio.
There are also 2 story, 3 bedroom Grand Villas - 2 of those are accessible with roll in showers on the lower floor of the villa.
My family has personally stayed in 1 or 2 bedroom villas with roll in showers in buildings 20, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 34.
We also stayed in one of the accessible Grand Villas.

Does anyone have any photos of the Disney Old Key West Handicap/Accessible Roll-in Shower Studio? I was wondering about getting around in a wheelchair between the beds and to the balcony. The only thing that I don't like about the OKW studios is that they don't have a sofa or comfy chair like BWV.

I was curious about rolling onto the balcony and between the beds and the new updated handicap studios.

The only five photos that I could find on Google was from Sue in 2008 studio from a OKW grand villa.
