'OHANA means CHUNKY! An Aug 2017 Family TR THE END 4/26 - The Last Day and Trip Epilogue!

I did not have any glitter on me so I just used some highlighting powder and hoped she couldn’t’ tell the difference.

Why not? :rotfl:

She loved her look, although she didn’t understand why I don’t carry around with glitter on a regular basis.

You should!
Back in the day when I was in elementary school I always carried roll on glitter with me :lmao: When we started going to Disney I thought it would be fun to get some to use when I went to the parks, but I couldn't find it anywhere anymore. When I went to Claires looking for roll on or spray glitter my younger sister said she'd never heard of that and acted like I was crazy.

I love the Mulan dress it's really cute!

Su-Lynn, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your last month. But I'm so happy to hear that your dad is doing so much better. I had no idea. I deactivated Facebook several months ago and - EEECK! - I realized I'm somehow not following your December TR?!?!?! :scared1: But lots of thoughts are with you and your family and sending good vibes for a continued and speedy recovery. Please continue to let us know how your dad is doing.

What a great start to your day at MK... and the various other places everyone was that day  The girls looked so darn cute! And perhaps you missed your own calling to work at BBB! ;)

She loved her look, although she didn’t understand why I don’t carry around with glitter on a regular basis. :rotfl:
I also don't understand this. :rotfl2:

I gave them a card which my sister had made for me.
This is so beautiful! I remember seeing it - I imagine on @MeghanEmily's TR? It's incredible! She's super talented.

Hi everyone, sorry I have been away for so long. We took a long 2-week vacation to Singapore in January and it was awesome. My cousin got married there, it was a big family reunion and we ate our way through Singapore like it was nobody's business. It was a lot of fun and I miss it so much. However, our travel was not so great, our flights were cancelled both going to and coming back from Singapore due to weather. We were actually stuck in Japan's Narita airport overnight with nowhere to go since there was a huge snowstorm and everything just kinda shut down. To make a long story short, we had to take the next day's flight after a sleepless night looking for shelter in the airport, wait on a 4 hour line to check in, and waited all day for a shower (we did finally get one) right before boarding our 13 hour flight back to Newark, NJ. The only consolation was that I got to eat some very good sushi and purchase a Cath Kidson Tinkerbell tote bag that wasn't available in the US.

That airport experience sounds simply awful :crazy2:

Then the night we arrived back home, my dad was rushed to the hospital with kidney failure. He has been battling stage IV prostate cancer for the past 8 months, and the chemo he received was no longer working so the prostate had grown and was affecting his kidneys and renal functions. He was bloated beyond recognition, and was in so much pain he couldn't walk. He was taken to the ER by ambulance and was operated on and was hospitalized for a week. Needless to say it was another sleepless week. My sisters, my mom, and I took turns spending the night with our dad in the hospital, and I find it very hard to sleep in such places, especially when all you have is a reclining chair. I was so worried that my dad would call my name in the middle of the night and I would be sleeping, so I just couldn't sleep. It was a harrowing week, but my tough daddy survived, his body was drained of all the fluids that built up in his system from his failing kidneys, but he will have to walk around with tubes coming out of both kidneys for the near future at least. He is now at a rehab center and on a new treatment of radiation combined with hormone pills. He is doing much better than when he was first admitted but he still has a long road ahead.

Aw, I'm so sorry about your dad and that you and your family have to go through this. My favorite Uncle (my mom's baby brother passed away 4 years ago after open-heart surgery, and my dear niece (31 at the time) passed 3 years ago after a long battle with Lupus. There is nothing worse than seeing someone you love in pain and not being able to do anything for them. Praying that he continues to recover and get stronger and healthier

As an alternative to BBB, Eva decided she wanted ME to do her hair and makeup, sort of a Fairy God Auntie makeover. I happily obliged! She had a few requirements: no eyeshadow, lots of blush, bright lips, a French braid and lots of sparkle. I did not have any glitter on me so I just used some highlighting powder and hoped she couldn’t’ tell the difference. So I did the best I can and here she is:

Birthday Princess Eva!

Yeah she had a rough night.

:rotfl: Adorable!

Right before lunch I had a very special DISMeet! @MeghanEmily and I had been texting and we were going to meet up in Fantasyland. We met up in the store right at the exit of Fantasmic. Her and her (now hubby) Nate had just gotten married the day before! I was very honored to be one of the first people to see her with her very chic new short haircut! I loved it!

Great pic and that card is amazing! So uncanny how it looks just like them!

Happy to hear that your dad is feeling better. You’ll be in my thoughts, hoping for even more improvement after this treatment. :goodvibes

What a fun update. All the girls look so beautiful. You did a great job with your makeover - although you better get some glitter to keep in your makeup bag! I love seeing the princess makeovers at BBB - and the pirates ones too. I wish they’d had these when I was a kid!! I do often wonder about those costumes on hot days.

And speaking of outfits, you and Chunky Sis are on point again!!! Love both looks. Is yours a dress?

Wow, wow, wow to the card your sister made. That’s gorgeous. I wish I was creative as well as organized and thoughtful enough to think about getting one and packing it.

Lots of peoplemover love here too. I was just jonesing to ride it the other day. Although... confession... I get a little nervous in the pitch black part.

Looking forward to hearing about CRT. Glad that reliving the trip can be a distraction for you now. Take the time you need to, to focus on what’s important.

Hi Su-Lynn! I was so sorry to read about your dad. I'm glad he's on the mend. It's wonderful that you and your family is able to take turns to be with him.
I know how difficult it can be when one of your parents is sick. A few years ago, my dad had cancer that spread to his liver, which resulted in a liver transplant. It was a very difficult time for my family. Thank goodness my dad was able to heal, and he's back in Florida golfing all winter looooong...

Wow what a rough start to the year (even with what sounds like a good family trip). Glad to hear your dad is on the mend.

Gorgeous card your sister made! And I love love her dress!
Your nieces are simply adorable.

There are only a few people I really follow for TR- and I love these threads with the welcoming and supportive Disney family here. Hope February treats you and your family much better :)

Oh my, what a rough start to the year! You're lucky to have such a large family and support system as is your father. I hope he heals quickly.

The young ladies look so nice with their little makeovers, and you did a great job with your auntie makeover!

I am so sorry about your dad. It sucks getting old...us kids getting old that is!

I am yearning to be sweating right now even though it is fairly mild and rainy in CT but my feet are cold and I am under covers...oh Disney in August with my hair up can’t come soon enough!

Good job on the makeover! My oldest lost a tooth while we were in Disney so I went up to the Poly desk and asked if they had any confetti or tinkerbelle things and they so nicely gave me tinkerbelle pins. I don’t think they wanted me to put confetti in our room...I wonder if the desk had glitter? Next time!

She looks perfect and how fun for you. BBB is certainly fun for the kiddos but when it comes down to it they just want someone to daut on them and make them feel special. The girls are certainly luck to have such a great fairy god auntie!

I love this one of Sophie, I really hoped she got to meet Mulan later wearing her outfit!
They look great! Finger crossed for Mulan.

Not exactly the empty castle pictures she was looking for but you can't really get one nowadays!
I'm really shocked chunky sis didn't opt into BBB herself. I can totally see her with the bun, sash, and all. :-)

What a great picture of you all!

It's pretty uncanny, and it's just really all because of Disney magic as I'd like to say. :) It was so great meeting you guys @MeghanEmily and I hope we get a chance to meet again!
I remember seeing this in Megan's trip report. It is way too perfect and precious Which sister made it? Whomever has some serious talent.

We're all thinking about you and your family! Take your time, and hopefully the Dis can be therapeutic for you in such a rough time! I'm sending good vibes your dad's way as he starts on his new treatment! He must be one tough guy!

Thank you so much Meghan, I really apprecate it! And the Dis is really theraputic. What can I say. I am an escapist by nature and the DIS is the perfect escape from reality! LOL Even my dad tells me every time we return from Disney, "No more Fantasyland for you! Back to reality!" :rotfl:

Wow what are hard thing. It's hard too when it is one of your parents that are like your own super heroes. I hope February is much better to you and your family.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I hope February is better too, so far it has been! :)

Laundry can wait, housecleaning and unpacking can wait, trip reports can wait--spending time with a loved one that needs you can't. Wishing you and your family all the best and renewed spirit with this new treatment!

Thank you so much! My dad's spirits are up and we're hoping for some pixie dust with this new treatment...but whatever the outcome is, we'll certainly be prepared. Hoping for some good news though. :)

My thoughts and prayers are with your dad. I understand the difficulty in having a sick parent. There comes a time where it begins to feel as the roles of parent and child are reversed. Hang in there.

You did a fantastic job with Eva's makeover! Adorable! And way to save her parents money!

Your family is so stinkin' cute!

Thank you so much, it really is a turning point in your life when you start taking care of your parents instead of the other way around. But I guess all I can do is make them as comfortable as possible for the rest of their lives. :)

Haha I hoped I did her justice on her birthday but honestly she was happy with whatever I did! She did think it was very important to touch up her lipstick that day though!

Thank you!! :)

Nice job! She's so sweet! I love this red dress. Even though I'm sure it was warm...that was SUCH a hot day!

It was really hot! I can't imagine how we all dealt with the heat...but I guess if we can take a week in August in Orlando we can take just about anything at this point!

Ummm, it's a legit question. You probably should always carry glitter.

Rightfully said. It shall be corrected!!

Yay! It was so nice to meet you and some of your family!

It definitely was! I hope it's not the last!

This was so amazing! Someone asked on my TR, and I realized I didn't know: is it Chunkysis who made this card? Or one of your twin sisters? It was really impressive! I'd be lying if I said that a lot of our generic wedding cards didn't get misplaced after the wedding, but this one made it safely into our wedding memory box!

Yup it is Chunkysis!!
She's the crafty one in the family!

I hope so, too! We were both having crazy days with lots of family, and it was so hot! Hopefully someday we'll cross paths again on trips that are a little more relaxed and we can coordinate a little better. Thanks for taking the time to say hi! I don't have any creative sisters who make cool things, but next time I'll bring you a Canadian treat of some kind :)

Oooh Canadian treats! I loved everything I ate in Canada!! Can't wait until we cross paths again! I'm sure it will happen in the near future!

 I distinctly remember this! She was a girl on a mission!

Yes, she was!! She was determined to get that white figet spinner!

I know everyone has said so and I’m usually a lurker with your TRs (but still a huge fan nonetheless) but I do send many prayers and well wishes to your father. It’s such a stressful time when a loved one is so sick. I love reading your TRs because of how close you are to your family, your writing style, and hearing the adventures with Steve!

Thank you so much for your words of support and for reading my TRs! It really was a happy trip considering our dad was home undergoing treatment, but he wanted us all to have fun and he just said take lots of pictures which we did! He really loved seeing the grandkids so happy!

I'm so sorry about your dad. Hope he recovers and does well with new treatments. I went thru similar with my dad, so I know how you feel.

Thank you so much. I'm so sorry you had to go through this with your dad too. Growing old sucks!!

LOL Even my dad tells me every time we return from Disney, "No more Fantasyland for you! Back to reality!" :rotfl:

This is great!! But Fantasyland is much more fun than the real world, Dad!

Yup it is Chunkysis!!
She's the crafty one in the family!

That's awesome! I'm not surprised with how creative she is with her Disney-bounding!

Oooh Canadian treats! I loved everything I ate in Canada!! Can't wait until we cross paths again! I'm sure it will happen in the near future!

What can I say? We know how to eat well up here.

My cousin got married there, it was a big family reunion and we ate our way through Singapore like it was nobody's business.

nom nom nom nom.....

However, our travel was not so great, our flights were cancelled both going to and coming back from Singapore due to weather.

ugh...

Then the night we arrived back home, my dad was rushed to the hospital with kidney failure.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear that!

Yes, of course. I would have trouble too.

I was so worried that my dad would call my name in the middle of the night and I would be sleeping, so I just couldn't sleep.

:sad1: You poor thing.

He is doing much better than when he was first admitted but he still has a long road ahead.

Glad to hear that.

Today was Eva’s 5th Birthday!

Yay!

Kevin and Marc were good dads and stayed behind to help out my sisters with the kids. They are so nice. I would have been like “See ya” and happily had my 4th ride on FoP.

:lmao: What kind of Fairy God Auntie are you?

One who knows her priorities, I guess.

sort of a Fairy God Auntie makeover.

Glad you stayed. You were obviously needed.

Cute! Nice job! :thumbsup2

She loved her look, although she didn’t understand why I don’t carry around with glitter on a regular basis.

Yeah, what's with that? I agree with her. I hope you carry it now!

Sorry for the messy room above. Disney vacations aren't pretty.

I didn't even notice. Of course it's like that!

They look wonderful!

Looks like she got a little star-struck meeting Gaston:

Well..... doesn't everyone???

QxMio2insJXckoShBiX293UZqdSzHIJB0XGsQSyKYU-nhAIMf4iN6mfgUgSdSpB4qlF2bXpRfeINa8cHhMCKyU6DRBV0RAHpMN4l_hTIbp6BMNF-WG1YxWqZ25ZTJS7T5bw5e-11Id7Dbhrb-3mPrkJC1sK5YYmyGbsmCYkxlotkQZiVB_tToTXkh5-hnbOFCknsLa_JYJvx7HLny9n209pE3fA8bN4ZHQLP0h3DcnkHw9gMke4RSrKq22Ds2AogMNBaJcktlf6kB_5tf4q4rzogChWa46zMwdFQbie47tvSXmDLuOI-Fgi5h0thkmKVGgzichEuc69Z2BK7_Lx6Q5SB-Q_tvWkIexphXPwS3aST3HPEpHIC50AFHVrChnPfLjvtpNMQLSzIbLglxsbFx6NRHF9e20DXstou8ok9MM-DZQ5oHoTr8XjNLjmaMl0GUXGt33HlZNtA0etn02yxY78PhRQymKCoU2U8Zt7Ac5DYZwfh1bcNOb_N9SG08qJDo0FOxlbXyNSm3NktjYgSe0Qn7suVaAHyjc49OWiQEzGSjwpfiZ9DZUqDPhCF2VbCOPmYCqA6HbS08srmI-xYDfgFDw6ItR30K-IuXK6r=w555-h739-no

Yeah she had a rough night.

Looks like me after a hard day touring a park.

Gosh I miss my happy place! :cloud9:

Don't we all. :)

Right before lunch I had a very special DISMeet! @MeghanEmily

Yay! Lucky you!

It's the famous card!!

So happy to see an update here from you. So sorry to read about your dad's health issues. Watching a parent suffer is very difficult and stressful. :( I hope he's doing much better. Cancer sucks.

LOVE the auntie makeover...how cute! What a great day so far and can't wait to read more. Really makes me want to go back myself, tempting as it is with APs, but I'm going to try to hold off until April or May....I think. Too much going on with our family also right now that escaping just isn't an option.

Can't wait to read more as always!

I hope your dad is continuing to improve! Thinking of you guys. It's hard, and it sucks

As an alternative to BBB, Eva decided she wanted ME to do her hair and makeup, sort of a Fairy God Auntie makeover.
Adorable! The best kind of makeover! pixiedust:

She loved her look, although she didn’t understand why I don’t carry around with glitter on a regular basis.
:rotfl:

Sorry for the messy room above. Disney vacations aren't pretty.
You should travel with Zack... he actually forgot where some of his clothes was on our honeymoon... :confused3

Meanwhile at Disney Springs:
The other birthday girl, Mimi, was getting the Royal Treatment along with her older sister!
The backgrounds are so fun! They are too cute!

Yeah she had a rough night.
Here's me on the Peoplemover!! How I miss it so much!
I miss it! I'll probably cry looking at the track in Disneyland in a couple months...

I loved it!
Yay!

Meghan and Nate all their entire family were so sweet. I gave them a card which my sister had made for me. My sister hand makes cards and she made this specifically at my request but the funny thing is that I didn't know what type of card she'd make me. I thought it would be just a generic congratulations card and I didn't know there would be actual people on it. I didn't give her any information on what Meghan and Nate looked like, but she she made them look almost exactly like them!
That card is so cute! I took my Christmas card to work to show off... :)

Back in the day when I was in elementary school I always carried roll on glitter with me :lmao:
Do you remember the Art Stuff line at Bath and Body Works??

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's health issue. I'm a pretty quiet TR reader but just wanted to pop up and give my best wishes for his continuing recovery!

I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better. I know it's a long road and he's lucky to have a good support network but it's very difficult all the same.

Those make overs are truly adorable!!!

I know I missed an update or two (on EVERYONE'S TR's.....) but I'm just now seeing the update about your dad. I'm so sorry, Su-Lynn, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I truly hope he recovers and is home soon, comfortable and better able to spend time with all of you

So I did the best I can and here she is:
Adorable! I guess at this point I have to admit it: you're a better Auntie than I am :worship:

I love this one of Sophie, I really hoped she got to meet Mulan later wearing her outfit!
I love the backdrop for her! I didn't realize they have those at BBB, but then again........boys

The girls all look so cute in their Princess dresses but they MUST be so hot!!! They should make really cute Princess sundress and sell them down there, I think they'd make a killing.

So sad to hear about your Dad :( Glad to hear he's making some progress in the right direction now at least!!

Love this Princessy Morning with the girls!! I wish they'd let ME go to BBB!!! But sadly, a little pixie dust in the hair is as close as I'll ever get I'm afraid. Can't wait to see how everyone enjoyed CRT. It is really one of our favorites, and all because I have a little boy who just can't get enough of Cinderella :)

Yes I think the universe has told me I now need to carry glitter with me everywhere.
And yes I remember those roll on glitter things. I can't find them either! They have some on amazon but I don't think they are the right ones - like the ones I remember as a kid. :(

I love the Mulan dress it's really cute!

It is! She was the perfect Mulan princess!

Hi Tracy! It's great to see you back again! Thank you so much for your words of support. I honestly haven't posted too much on facebook about it only because I have all my extended family there and I don't want them to worry too much. He is doing better this week and continues to get strongerday by day! Thank you so much and I'll be sure to update everyone shortly on my dad's progress.

What a great start to your day at MK... and the various other places everyone was that day  The girls looked so darn cute! And perhaps you missed your own calling to work at BBB! ;)

Thank you! It was a fun start getting everyone into Princess mode! And I will consider BBB as a backup plan! At least I'll get to live close to my happy palce!
I also don't understand this. :rotfl2:

Apparently the universe believes I need to carry glitter around with me at all times. I will rectify that immediately!

This is so beautiful! I remember seeing it - I imagine on @MeghanEmily's TR? It's incredible! She's super talented.

Thanks!! She is super talented!

You are lucky to have such a wonderful extended family! Positive thoughts for your father. :sunny:

Thank you so much! He is indeed getting better day by day, so thank you!

That airport experience sounds simply awful :crazy2:

Yes. It was. :( Glad it is over.

Aww I'm so sorry for your losses. It is so hard. My friend Kelly (the one in my TR) - she just lost her dad late last year. It was very very hard for her family too.
Thank you so much for the support and kind words. I hope to post an update at the end of the week!

Bellisima! Well done!

thank you!
Beautiful girls! They are lucky to have you in their lives

Aww thanks!

Lucky! I still have never met Gaston!

He's hilarious! You should definitely check him out on the next trip!

Great pic and that card is amazing! So uncanny how it looks just like them!

thanks! It like the card was meant to be...Disney magic for ya!

Happy to hear that your dad is feeling better. You’ll be in my thoughts, hoping for even more improvement after this treatment. :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the support and encouragement! We really appreciate it!

Thank you! And yes, glitter must be carried at all times, Got it!
I was so excited to see the BBB makeovers. They looked so cute! But yes, so dang hot, that Sophie and Mimi ended up changing out when they weren't taking pictures and then they would throw on the dress when they met princesses.

And speaking of outfits, you and Chunky Sis are on point again!!! Love both looks. Is yours a dress?

Thank you! Mine is actually tank top from hot topic paired with a skort from Sparkle Skirts. I love them and I live in them while at Disney!

Wow, wow, wow to the card your sister made. That’s gorgeous. I wish I was creative as well as organized and thoughtful enough to think about getting one and packing it.

Thank you! I knew I wanted to do something special for them so I thought just a simple card would do, but Chunkysis really hit one out of the park with this design.

Lots of peoplemover love here too. I was just jonesing to ride it the other day. Although... confession... I get a little nervous in the pitch black part.

I miss it so much! I was just reminiscing about it the other day...sigh. My Disney ban this year is not going to hold out...I've already booked for Labor Day week! LOL.
The pitch black part is the "thrill" part of the ride!

Looking forward to hearing about CRT. Glad that reliving the trip can be a distraction for you now. Take the time you need to, to focus on what’s important.

Thank you!! It's been fun to get back into writing and reliving the memories from such a happy trip. :)

Thank you Jenny! I really appreciate it. Wow, what a journey you dad had. I'm so glad he's healed and golfing again! It gives us hope! I'm sure it was very difficult for your family. Cancer sucks!

Wow what a rough start to the year (even with what sounds like a good family trip). Glad to hear your dad is on the mend.

thank you! Yeah I'm Glad January is behind us, and February has been much better!

Gorgeous card your sister made! And I love love her dress!
Your nieces are simply adorable.

Thank you!! Her dress is from Torrid I think!
Thank you!

There are only a few people I really follow for TR- and I love these threads with the welcoming and supportive Disney family here. Hope February treats you and your family much better :)

Thank you so much! And yes February has been so much better so far! He's hope it continues in the upward trend! I love the Disboards for taking me to my happy place each time I am here.

Oh my, what a rough start to the year! You're lucky to have such a large family and support system as is your father. I hope he heals quickly.

Thank you so much! We hope so too. So far, he seems to be in better spirits. He can't wait to come home!

The young ladies look so nice with their little makeovers, and you did a great job with your auntie makeover!

Thank you! I did want to be a makeup artist a long time ago! :)

I am so sorry about your dad. It sucks getting old...us kids getting old that is!

Thank you...yeah getting old sucks!! Boo!

I am yearning to be sweating right now even though it is fairly mild and rainy in CT but my feet are cold and I am under covers...oh Disney in August with my hair up can’t come soon enough!

I know, we always want what we don't have! But the heat was pretty brutal. I'm not sure I can take it again...although we are booked for Labor Day week now and that will be equally if not more sweltering!

Next time!

Haha perhaps the desk had some pixie dust?!? Will find out. They seem to have everything! How nice they gave you tinkerbell pins!!

She looks perfect and how fun for you. BBB is certainly fun for the kiddos but when it comes down to it they just want someone to daut on them and make them feel special. The girls are certainly luck to have such a great fairy god auntie!

Thank you!! It was actually quite fun.

They look great! Finger crossed for Mulan.

:rolleyes1

I'm really shocked chunky sis didn't opt into BBB herself. I can totally see her with the bun, sash, and all. :-)

Oh but she did ASK about it, but there is an age limit. I think you can get pixie dusted at any age though. :rotfl:

What a great picture of you all!

thank you!

I remember seeing this in Megan's trip report. It is way too perfect and precious Which sister made it? Whomever has some serious talent.

It's all Chunkysis's handiwork! She's the only crafty one in the family! I don't know how she does it! She has an entire basement set up for her cards. All the gadgets, stamps, paints, cricutters etc...
