Official March Trip Reports

Finally, this afternoon, it was the end of an era.

The long con concluded this afternoon during a break in El Mysterio's day back at the Fort after a morning at the MK. Years ago I managed to scrawl my name in some wet concrete here at the Fort. Over those years I have revisited the spot and kept its location secret - sharing it only with a few. Now perhaps the most fervent searcher, El Mysterio, has been shown the secret spot and sworn to secrecy with the others. His two young protoge's, who helped him in his search, were present also (passing on the secret to the next generation).

As pixel proof, the two young assistants lent their feet as proof of the find.

El Mysterio himself was pleased to finally be let in on the secret and gave it his personal "okay".

In return, El Mysterio returned to the Magic Kingdom this evening and asked me to share pixel proof the golden idol he found left by the indigenous people who are rumored to still live in these woods.

Tomorrow morning we pack up and head home after breakfast at Trails End. It was a short trip (Mon-Fri) but we spent lots of time with DD who is now halfway through her time in the Disney College Program.

It's been different but it's still been fun.

This evening was a huge highlight on my FW and Dis career. I hosted for a brief period of time @bama_ed and the world famous @TheRustyScupper for some fun conversation, beverages (mostly non-adult) and a mixed meal of Mississippi horned corn thief and beaked yard walker. Oh yeah, salad as well if you're into that kind of thing. Having two legends like that on your site at same time is nothing short of, well legendary.

Luckily for us each of our wives were there to keep us out of trouble.

My daughters (the oldest especially) was fixed on Scuppers every word.

Thanks on posting the pic for me Ed. My one contribution I snagged while waiting for the evening show to start.

Ed certainly looks like you have done some major explore new to you areas of WDW Happy you have been able to spend so much time with DD
Still have to wonder, how did you get them to play "Folsom Prison Blue's " when our resident bad boy got near the display???

We saw Miss Josephine at breakfast this morning at Trails End. She said yesterday was her 39th service anniversary date.

Ps - she is the "J" in the P & J's Southern Takeout which is the to-go side of TE. A legend.

Ed,
Thanks again for another round of detailed-filled, heart-touching photos. Your trip reports always get me in gear for another Fort trip.

Ed thanks for letting us tag along. Thanks for a great memory of Miss Josephine.
Back story. In 2011 I took my wife Lucille for her 1st ever trip to Disney World. We arrived at 7pm and were hungry after our drive so after unloading the car down to TE we went. Checked in at the podium and a few minutes later were called. Miss Josephine was introduced to us as the hostess who would escort us to our table. I then to shock and dismay of all involved announced " I am not going anywhere with her SHE's MEAN!!!" The looks of shock and horror on Lucille's the Podium Hostess and Miss Josephine was beyond priceless. " She's mean and scolds me. " The Podium Lady now asks why is there a problem. I proudly recount how in 1987 I had gone to HDDR and Miss Josephine was our waitress for the evening and was wearing my 15 yr anniversary sweatshop Well Miss J very politely and firmly told me how foolish I was to risk ruining that item by staining it . Miss J admitted that at that time frame she did work HDDR but didn't remember our encounter but she did accept my apology if I had embarrassed her in attempt to have some fun and followed her in for a much needed and happy dinner. She did come by later and ask how I remembered that Answer I still have that sweatshirt the memories of my first trip to Disney and her to thank for it

Well we are home here on Saturday morning. It was a long drive yesterday. The cherry on top was a 5 car bumper-to-bumper collision in the left most lane against the concrete construction barrier between Wildwood and Ocala on I75. Spent 90 minutes creeping 3 miles to get up to it.

But now I am on my couch at home watching Bama play Villanova in the NCAA Basketball Tournament enjoying an adult beverage in a new glass that I can add to my WDW glass/cup/bowl collection.

Many happy memories in the table garden area behind the curb taps at R&C.

Anyway, to wrap up our going home day, it was weird looking out from the TE porch before breakfast because the lake was putting off a lot of mist/fog because the water was much warmer than the air temp yesterday morning. You couldn't see anything "through the cloud".

While we were loading up, I was confronted with a surprise. Now I'm use to the squirrel shakedown. Give them a muffin and they go away. But now the turkeys are getting into the act. The big guy in the group tried to intimidate me but I stood my ground. Since I was leaving, I told him to buzz off. But if he visits you on day 1 of your vacation, you might consider paying. He can make "accidents" happen.

Finally we were all hitched up and ready to go. Don't know when we'll be back at the Fort.

An interesting side note. DD lives in a Disney-provided apartment complex with other College Program kids. Disney provides a bus system to ferry kids to work around the property for those that don't drive to work (white buses with the word "Transtar" on the side). Anyway, Sunday morning (the day we left home to head for the Fort), a Transtar Disney bus caught fire at their apartment complex. It's not often a Disney bus turns into a charred hulk.

Thanks for following along. We enjoyed our visit and will be back next month at Caribbean Beach with a Cast Member discount there.

Ed sorry to do this to a man of your exalted status but I must cry foul. Not for the feathered ones, but for your choice of glassware. Today is, St Patrick's day. When we honor the Patron Saint of IRELAND.

Us Polish people don't know what that means. He's a Saint, of course, so that's good. But the Irish component is prolly single digits in my family. So why is today special to me? :confused3 At least Ferris Beuller sang in the St Paddy's Chicago parade. That I liked.

I know we have more March folks either here or prepping. I'm home now so I want to hear from those of you who will catch the warm weather we didn't have. :thumbsup2

Bama Ed, Enjoyed your pictures & sharing of your trip to the Fort. Tiggerdad, Glad you & the family are having a great time & safe travels at the end of your trip. Hope to see all in May. Our next trip to the Fort will be mid Nov. to Mid December. We retired in Dec 2017 & now have the time, less monies (haha), but can't wait!

So ready for vacation! I have been doing some Disney decorating to some plastic Easter eggs that I will be filling with stickers, small toys and some Disney trading pins. Will be hiding around the loops for the kiddos to find. Since my kid is all grown, I will fill my Easter Bunny duties with all the other kids at the Fort. :tink:

All the trips sound amazing! We are supposed to head over there next Wed. but won't know until tomorrow if we can do it. My dad has been battling a nasty cancer (aren't they all??) and we get confirmation of his surgery date tomorrow. It's looking like Thursday March 29. If that happens, will post here in case someone knows someone who might want to coordinate my cancellation of a tent site from 3/28-4/2. The surgery might be postponed until the following week but it's a big one and I want him over it and on the mend! I had made this reservation a year ago. I will also be cancelling a weekend in April (22-23) in case someone needs that too. It seems we will be back in late May and a long weekend in June to go to the parks but there's no long stretch of Fort hanging out in my plans until New Year's. We did do Highland Hammock State Park a few weeks ago and I've got the Keys in September but I need a Fort fix to recalibrate all the crazy in my life and take a breather.

Amcc my thoughts and prayers for your dad and your family will keep you all in my discussions with GUS. Hopefully all will turn out for the best and you can make it to the fort for that much needed recharge trip

amcc, hope all goes well with your Dad. I know what you're going through, been there done that with my Dad. We'll be praying for you all

Any chance Easter activities were or are posted for anyone that is there right now? Trying to wait patiently...

As I posted earlier, we are here at CBR for 2 nights before heading to Port Canaveral for a Carnival Cruise. Wish we were at the Fort glamping instead Anyway, we did Epcot today and have discovered what might be the "straw that breaks the Camels back" ... Disneyworld no longer sells hot dogs at the American pavillion 1st they start the parking fee and now no hot dogs ... what's gonna be next ? Luckily, one of the Africa pavillions sells hot dogs and we were saved

Are you sure you don't just have to pay an extra fee for the menu with hot dogs on it??
