Which resort is the most convenient to both Epcot & MGM? Can you walk to both of these from any one resort?

Yes.

The Beach and Yacht club, the Boardwalk villas and Boardwalk Inn and the Swan and Dolphin have walking and boating access to Epcot and MGM.

The beach club is the closest to the entrance to Epcot, next is Yacht club (not much of a difference, maybe 2 minutes), Boardwalk Inn, Boardwalk Villas

You can walk to either park from any of the resorts:

To Epcot: about 10 to 12 minutes from BC or BW, 14 to 16 from YC, 16 to 20 from S/D.

To MGM: about 22 to 25 minutes from BW or S/D, 28 to 32 from YC/BC.

You can also go by boat. The boat loop is MGM to S/D to YC/BC to BW to Epcot to BW to YC/BC to S/D to MGM. Thus to and from Epcot BW is closest by boat because there is no stop in between; to and from MGM S/D is closest for the same reason. Boat can take longer than walking to Epcot; boat is faster to MGM if you use S/D dock and longer if you use BW dock.

Shortest walk to MGM/Longest walk to Epcot is S/D.
Most centrally located to both Epcot and MGM is BW.

All of the resorts are great and you are talking maybe 5 minutes difference in the walks. However, that 5 minutes makes a big difference when you make the trek to MGM - it is not a short walk. We walked to MGM from the BC in Nov and it took us a solid 30 minutes. We may think twice about walking that again. Of course we did it late in the day. Early in the day when we are fresh - I guess I'd do it again. Shortening that walk by 5 or 7 minutes from the BW would make a difference.
