We stayed in a VRBO rental a couple of years ago and UBERed to downtown. We drove to Nashville so we had a car to get around to other spots. We bought two day passes for the Grey Line? Trolley and let them give us a tour of the town before we started exploring. We got quite a lot of good trivia that way. The Botannical Gardens are very nice but I wouldn't recommend a visit during warmer temps.
