You didn't know they were gone?
The monorails disappeared from the online Disney Store and theme parks some months ago. Then just last week they appeared again at the online store, $100 for WDW or DL Mark VII. There does not appear to be any updates, the Mark VII I just received looks and runs just like the previous ones.

How about the price compared to the past? Also, are you able to get track extensions from Disney or other third parties?

It seems the price goes up a little every time a new color is released. Track extensions may still be available from Disney, they are available on eBay but some cause problems with some monorails according to reports I have seen (I have not tried the 3rd party track (beam) myself).
Of course, there's always my way...

The beam is vinyl molding sanded to 8 mm wide. The monorail must be converted to a WhisperJet drive

and the beam side rollers changed for cylindrical rollers. Overall it is a lot of work but it looks more realistic, runs better, and the beam has far fewer joints (less noise)!

Here's another one: radio control with a custom sound chip (and white headlights)
WhisperJet of course. :)

Just one more: autonomous. Magnets under the beam trigger an onboard microcontroller that controls monorail motion/lights/audio at selected locations.
