I was just in our Disney Store yesterday and I used my MKC. As I paid I said to the CM, "I guess this will the last time I use this." Anyway, she told me that Disney will honor the MKC cards until their expiration dates! That would be awesome for me, mine says 02/02!!!

Anyone know this for sure?

I haven't heard this. I wonder if your MKC will only be honored at the Disney Store? Most of the information I received indicated that my MKC card would be honored until the end of March. This may be a case of misinformed Cast Members at your local Disney Store. Then again, who knows?

A Disney Store CM has posted that they were told to accept the MKC Card through the expiration date printed on them. This only applies to the Disney Store, not to other benefits.

I am assuming that since you have an epxiration of 2002 that it is a gold card you have. They will accept that, however you should get your gold Card replaced with the DC Card. Go to www.disneyclub.com and get the toll free number and they'll help you out.

No, I have a regular freebie from my DH's employer! Kind of weird, but that is how it came!

That's what I had read here -- that TDS would honor them through their expiration date. (But nothing official from Disney, as usual.)
DH's does read through sometime in 2002. But I wanted the DC for the discounts at WDW in '01.
Also, you know how CM's are -- one will probably honor it, while another won't. :rolleyes:

...for sharing this information! This is good news for many of us! On non-trip years, the MKC discount really helped at TDS and I will happily use mine ( a free card from DH's employer) until the expiration of 12-31-2001!

I am just about to buy our hopper tickets for our upcoming trip.. I was just about to buy the new card, but I will wait now and just use my existing one...

if you can afford it, I'd buy the passes now, just in case of a price increase OR an ornery CM who won't extend the MKC discount. I just had a thought...since WDW sets the MKC discounted admissions price, will they still have a MKC pass price after 12/31 for passes bought at TDS? Or will the MKC discount at TDS only be for merchandise? I'd be very tempted to get on the phone and order those passes directly from Disney RIGHT NOW!
 
As usual, my TDS says "no" that they all expire December 31, 2000 (and this came from one of the managers). It really makes me wonder if they ever read the Disney e-mail's and policies with each new promotion, etc. And I am not going to mention what I learned on this board this time. Every time that I do they get really ticked-off which makes it harder and harder to enjoy shopping there. I have the DVC card so that will suffice for now. I just wish that they wouldn't get so uptight when I say "Well, I heard that the other TDSs' are......". I am certainly not trying to upset them but how else am I supposed to approach it? I am not trying to say "I know more than you do" but it sure seems to work that way sometimes. Yikes! I think that I will leave this one alone! :(

"ornery CM's" have to follow what the company tells us to do or lose our jobs!! Please keep this in mind before you post messages about us. We don't make the decisions, and many times do not agree with the decisions that are made.
 
I have read and reread this thread and see nowhere anyone refer to "ornary CMs."
Sometimes it is just so very frustrating reading that things are not uniformly communicated and followed at TDSs.
I think that most of us have the utmost respect for CMs. They must keep a smiling face and be "Everything Disney" in all kinds of conditions - even that of poor communication.

The reference to "ornery CM's" is 4 up from mine. I understand your frustration as we feel it as well. My point was to please not shoot the messenger!! There have been many times where I have seen messages on this board blaming CM's for not giving people what they want(esp. during the spend $75/get a $15 GC promotion). We can only do what we are told. Our store has been told that we will not honor paper MKC cards past 12/31/00; that was not our decision to make. Many times the company is not clear on policies and that is why you will get different answers at different Disney Stores.

I am sure that it is difficult to see CMs besmerched.
I just wish that that Disney could master communication within its corporation as well as it masters Customer Service. :)

I have the paper MKC card and used it today at the Disney store to buy a 4 day WDW hopper pass and got the MKC discount on it. Pass prices are increasing on Jan 14.

thanks for your post. It is so very true. I never realized any of this til i started working at TDS.Sometimes you feel so bad for the guest and really want to give them a break, but we're only allowed to do so much (and not lose your job). We get blamed alot, too, for not having the merchandise they're looking for or not enough adult clothes. Of course, that's out of our control but we listen and try to service them anyways. I remember when i was a guest (before a cm) at my same disney store. i was mad they said something to my son about crawling in plush mountain, lol. Now i have to do this very same thing and i realize it was for his own safety!
