Military families: WDW trip during R&R?

Has anyone done it? what did you think of doing it? I'm kind of nervous as we usually stay at home during husband's r&r.

All my husband wanted was to be in his own bed and see all our family and friends.

We kinda toyed with the idea, but there is no way he would have gotten the "R&R" that he needed to finish his tour... We took a big trip when he got home instead!

We have not done it, thankfully, DH has never been deployed, but WDW is where he would choose to go, depending on how many days he had.

We have done a vacation R&R and honestly it was miserable. It was 9 months until the deployment and we both were exhausted. We did go to disney world as a delayed honeymoon(10 years ago!) and though we had fun we never did another vacation on R&R.

Between all the time zones and worrying about his plane landing on time so we could fly out the next day.(this was before the 15 days of R&R now)It was just so much stress and trying to have fun but then having to fly home and sleep in our bed maybe 2 nights and then back out to the deployment.

Now we just do some day trip fun but he really wants to be at home in our bed and have some home cooked meals.
