While these types of things are probably not lessor known to you folks, they probably are to me and others. But I stumbled across the spirit photos that you can get done at the Memento Mori shop near the Haunted Mansion. They take a portrait photo of you and at certain angles can make your face look like a spirit. You wait for 20 minutes after the picture is taken for a spirit to hand the photo through a large portrait on the wall. Super cool. Thinking of having my daughter get in done on our next trip.

Also was looking into the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Looks like it could be fun while exploring the park.

Any other little gems or things to do like these in Magic Kingdom or any of the WDW parks?

    Thanks!

There is the Pirate's Adventure (Treasures of the Seven Seas) in Adventureland. It's like a little scavenger hunt with a map and is is different from Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. I have never done this one, but you can sign up just around the bend from POTC before you get to Frontierland.

Speaking of, it's always fun to check out the Frontierland Shootin' Arcade, which is maybe pretty well-known I guess. Also, there is the "Hoedown" that happens outside of the Country Bears Jamboree. Many of the Country Bears and Brer characters come out and dance with the crowd. They don't do it all the time though and it's not on the times guides. You can ask the CM outside CBJ and they might be able to give you a hint, or they will pretend they don't know what you're talking about. It's supposed to be a kind of random thing.

Working around to Liberty Square, the new Muppet show, Great Moments in History is fun and usually not too crowded (people gather when it starts). It happens in front of the Hall of Presidents and the building next to it. It's not really a secret, but it seems a lot of people don't plan around it. There are two different shows too that alternate. Times are listed in the Times Guide.

I can't think of any others at the moment, but there certainly are some. Maybe spend some time on Main Street and look for the little details or interact with the Citizens.

    Have fun!

We love the Muppets' history show. One thing I keep trying to do is watch the glass blowers in the Crystal Arts shop on Main St. I wanted the kids to sit for silhouettes last trip but they declined. I think that they're only $8, or so.

This isn't really a hidden gem, but we've switched from trying to get as many rides in to really trying to tour each land of the MK and see them as parks within the bigger park

So spending time doing the second-tier attractions during the same chunk of time that we ride the big rides in a given land. Making sure we do all of the attractions/shows in a given land, not just the headliners

Sometimes it means we're watching Tiki Room at a time that the touring guides would tell you that you should be riding something. That kind of thing.

The Thinking Fan's Guide to the Magic Kingdom is a fun read. It helps point out a lot of the little details that are easy to miss

Oooh, sounds neat! Do you know if the Memento Mori photos are included in the AP photo entitlement?

I wouldn't think so. They are lenticular prints. They cost $19.95 and come in a cardboard folder, but they have very cool Haunted Mansion frames you can purchase as well.

They probably only do one person portraits, right? Not a family of 3 or 4 at a time? From what I can see and look up myself, it appears it's just for 1 person at a time.

They can only do one person at a time. The spirit won't inhabit the portrait otherwise. ;)

Yeah, they're like 8x10 too, so they're a good size. The frames are more expensive, but they sure are cool! I have my portrait in one.

I always make a point to see the glass blowers! They’re really nice too and answer a lot of questions while they work

The "shadow" portraits on Main Street. An artist cuts out your portrait.

The Kiss Goodnight at the Castle before the close of MK each day. It's surprising how few people know about this or stick around for it. Only two minutes or so - but it's a special way to end the evening.

That would be 24x7. There’s ALWAYS something better to do than riding the tiki birds!

This sounds very cool - where does it take place and are there certain times which they do it?

They were $8 when I looked last year. They're small and oh, so cute.

The Tiki birds are an excellent preface to a Dole Whip float. Yum!
