Hi Sharon - great questions! Yes, we used the laundry room. It's in the Dolphin on the side by the pool so we put two loads in while we swam; very convenient. The machines use tokens, 4 tokens for a dollar. Each load costs 6 tokens to wash and 6 tokens to dry. They had quite a few machines though so we didn't have to wait for anything.
The Swan has a gym by their quiet pool. We didn't use it but I remember seeing quite a few people there on our way to the Grotto pool.
We bought a few things downstairs at the Dolphin so I'm not sure if they had milk at the Swan.
Check in was just okay. We checked in about 4pm and although our room was ready which was a good thing, we had a new person checking us in and it took a while. I'm a very patient person, but I can imagine others might have had enough right about the time he couldn't figure out how to apply my two nights deposit. He left me quite a few times to go behind the wall to see his manager, but I guess that's part of the learning curve. I did have to ask him for the room keys when it was all said and done though. And still he wouldn't waive the $8 resort fee. LOL!
My upgrade to CL was a courtesy because of a prior experience at the Dolphin, nothing bad, just a mix-up with a room. We didn't eat in any of the great restaurants, only icecream downstairs at the Dolphin Fountain.
We walked everywhere! It is SO nice to walk into Epcot through the back entrance and especially nice leaving there after Illuminations when everyone else is fighting their way to the front of Epcot. Our preference was to walk to MGM in the morning, but take the boat back at night. It's a very relaxing ride. The walk around Boardwalk at night is great as well with all the lights and people and little stands set up.
The bus to MK stops at the Swan first, then Dolphin, then 2 more hotels (Boardwalk/Yacht/Beach or vice versa). It was good in that the Swan is the first pickup so we always had seats, but it is a long ride with the other stops. However, when returning, the first drop off is the Swan which is really wonderful.
And now that I've written a novel...
