June 2018 discount watch

Following along. I'm hoping for an AP discount that's better than the discount I currently have.

Hoping for the next round of discounts to be released soon. Any inside scoop on when new discounts will be released?

Waiting here too! We are currently booked at CSR June 3rd - 10th, but really hoping for a discount and don't mind changing resorts if needed.

I would love to see pin codes for June but we have been going since 2006 (4 trips with a 5th paid for) and I have never gotten one. What bugs me I pay for everyone in my group to go and while I have never gotten one they have gotten 3 or 4. Sigh

We are currently booked without a discount. I am hoping for AP discounts to be large enough for it to make sense for us to get AP's, even if we have to switch resorts.

I haven’t booked our trip yet as I am waiting for the discounts to be released. I am also hoping for a pin code. We usually go every summer but missed last year as we decided to go to the beach. I received my first pin code this fall but it was only good until June 9th or 10th. (I cannot remember what day.). I’m hoping for another code that includes summer if I don’t have a trip booked

Planning for June 6th-15th! Waiting for Summer discounts to be released too. Ready to have it on the books!

Anxiously awaiting discounts for our June trip. It's the last family vacation before my daughter and her boyfriend jet off to far away places for grad school. I feel sad. I want to make this trip extra special for them.

June 17th-24th booked. Hoping for a little father's day and 15th anniversary magic to happen! Any little bit helps.

We are booked June 12-17 at PoR. I was checking traditional discount released on the Mousesaver website. I think for my dates I'm going to have to wait until March to see a discount released. :sad1:

I’ve just started planning for June 14-18 (a short stay before a week at Anna Maria Island — we “won” a travel package at our kids’ school gala). It’s so hard booking ADRs and making plans without having booked a hotel room! Every other time I’ve planned has been with a discount of some kind.

I take it from the variety of responses above that some people book without discount and some wait ... I guess I’d like to wait — otherwise POR is the only hotel that fits my budget and while we love it, we want to try something new — but I don’t know if I can wait until MARCH! o_O

For us, we book the trip as soon as we know when we want to go -- potential discounts don't factor in to that decision. We book a resort based on our needs/budget for that particular trip assuming we'll have to pay rack rate (which we have never had to do...except the time we took the free dining promotion because it saved us more money than the room discount at that time). Our TA has all of our information and knows what we want to do when discounts are released (i.e., change to preferred/standard view if needed for discount, change resort if the discount at XYZ resort is X% or more; etc.) so once I've made the reservation, I just sit back and wait for the text from the TA telling me she applied the discount.

@bluezy: Are TAs the only people who can rebook rooms at a lower rate? I have to review the rules on room-only packages v. room-and-other-stuff packages and all that stuff; it's been so long. I usually do room-only bookings and get everything else separately. (The only time I worked with a TA was when I combined a day at MK and a cruise, hoping that she could help us score some discounts I might not have access to. It ended up costing pretty much exactly the same as it would if I had done everything myself. I clearly didn't know how to use the relationship to better advantage.)

Anyone can rebook their room/package at the better rate. It just requires knowing that a better rate is available and getting on the phone by 7:00 a.m. the day the offer is released if you want to try and keep the same room/category you previously have booked as certain categories have very limited availability (less than 10 rooms) when discounts come out. Our TA doesn't get better pricing than I could get myself but she usually has some incentive (gift card, small token gift, etc.) for booking through her agency -- though I don't book through her for the incentive. Thanks to message boards and blogs, we (the general public) usually know a few days ahead of time when discounts are being released now and have a fighting chance of getting the discount rates ourselves. I just like that *I* don't have to be the one making sure to keep up on what discounts are available and I don't have to sit on the phone for what can sometimes be over an hour waiting to talk to a CM about modifying my reservation.

I know that a lot of people *do* all those things for themselves and I'm perfectly capable of doing it, I just choose not to. :D I used to do our reservations myself, but I found a TA I really like about 10-12 years ago so now I just let her take care of our reservation/package. I still do our own FPs and ADRs. I think it's important to use an Earmarked Disney Travel Agent -- they have a lot of specialized training. Unlike the "Disney Specialist" at any random travel agency. Those specialists often know less about Disney vacation planning than the average member on these boards.

Same here! I was lucky enough to hear about an authorized Disney travel agency, and they are the best! My TA is always ready to snag the best discount for me, whether it is announced at 7 a.m., 6 a.m., or even midnight. I love waking up to an e-mail from her, letting me know what she booked. (She makes sure to find out what my first and second choices are beforehand, along with special requests.)
