July 2017 - NO BUY

Hey all,

I didn't see this new one created yet, and I've been waiting for July since the middle of June as I watched all you savvy savers doing your best to keep your costs low. I need some support as well, and plan to get way ahead on my bills by being super frugal so that my (hopeful) December WDW trip can be over the top!

As stated in most all of the threads, you make your own rules as to what you will and won't buy. Personally, my "ok" list will be very minimal. Groceries, gas, regular bills. Meals all to be eaten at home or they count against me. I'm shooting for 20 no buy days (got in-laws in town and July 4th weekend -- better do all my spending on one or two days!) :P

COME ON FOLKS! LET'S GET FRUGGAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!

I gave up on June. . .under stress, I shop at thrifts. (It's better than most addictions, I suppose and I got some really nice bargains, including a painting from a local artist I recognized for $15. . .)

I can already tell you I will be shopping on Prime Day, July 11 for Christmas presents, just like every other year. :D

I'm in.

July 1 - No buy
July 2 - Amazoning. Glasses for the solar eclipse, strap to give my crossbody bag a hip belt of sorts
July 3 - Already bought a hiking book. Might as well enjoy my day. . .

Oh man, I thought about July 4th, but I didn't even remember about Prime Day. Well, I gave myself 10 days to spend this month, so I guess I can go wild! :)

July 1 -- No buy #1
July 2 -- No buy #2

July 4 -- No buy #4

I am being an absolute bump on a log. Long live my wallet! Although I must admit, I thought long and hard about hitting up the cafeteria for breakfast -- but I've pushed through with 3 cups of coffee in the office. :)

I'll join this month!
We are going through fertility treatments, so I need to get my extra spending and some debt under control. BWAHAA!

I went through today to calculate our monthly bills, and see where I can trim the fat. Starbucks is definitely a weakness for me. I have some gift cards, and I use swagbucks, so I think this month for my 'treats' I will force myself to earn it through sb or shopkick!

Welcome aboard!
Yes, I also have to admit that I got a number of gift cards on Raise that have been sitting around for a while, so while I'm not spending money per se, I do have enough to be able to get some donuts here and there on a gift card -- so that helps keep the spending under control.

Either way! It will help make this month's paychecks look extra fat and juicy!

July 5 - No buy
July 6 - My shoes (well, my favorite model of shoes) were actually cheap on Amazon. . .so I bought them. Do I need new running shoes? Oh hell no. Did I buy them anyway (in both colors, 80% off retail)? Yes. yes I did. I have no excuses for the next month or three now. I love, love, love these shoes and they are not even, strictly speaking running shoes, they're athe-leisure shoes, but they fit so well; they do ALL THE THINGS.

Man, I'm a boring poster. I go home for lunch, go home for dinner, and am re-watching 9 seasons of King of Queens on DVD right now. Is it lame? Yes it is. Is it saving money? YES IT IS! I thought about doing a goal of 25 days, but that seemed a little far fetched at first. Maybe not!

Things are going downhill. I gotta get back on it!

I've managed to do pretty well this July....

I took DD to our local amusement park last week ; we have season passes, so the only money spent was $13 for drinks and food. Oh and I had to put some gas in the truck, so $41 all together.
This week I went to the thrift store to pick up more "toy reward bags" for DD's good behavior and chore chart, so spent $40 there...

I will have to restock some things from the grocery store today but I have already mentally told myself that I am not going down any other aisles besides what I need. So here's hoping I can get out for less than $30.

I need this so badly right now. You have no idea. So even though we're almost mid month I'm jumping in. Let's see, there are 19 days left of the month I'll ease myself in and say 10 no spend days out of the remaining 19...starting today. I don't count bills/gas/groceries.

July is kaput for me since DH's brother made a last minute trip from LA to come see us for a few days :sad2:

I love DH's family.....but I hadn't anticipated that last minute trip out here which of course involved meals out and some trips around the city since the brother's girlfriend had never been to our city before.

Isn't that the truth? It really sucks that when someone pops in that you're expected to spend money for them. I mean, I guess it doesn't suck most of the time, but when you're trying to be frugal, you're caught in a bad place.
