Ok, I apologize in advance, I'm usually better at finding this info, but what rooms have already been renovated and what is left to do? I looked at the first page, and didn't see updated info (is there a separate thread for the progress report?).

I've never stayed at AKL and will be doing that next Spring, in a Savanna view room, will all those rooms be updated by then? Thanks!

Asking about refurbs again, is the zebra trail section the last section left? Or are there still non-refurbed rooms in circulation? Does anyone know or have a link to a post or a site that already talks about this?

There aren’t any official timelines or updates. There isn’t even a notification on the Disney website about the refurbishment. As far as I know, Kudu trail is complete as are parts of Zebra. I don’t believe Giraffe or Ostrich have been started yet.

Ahhh, I see. The only info I could find online was that it was supposed to be done by Fall of 2019, they must have started late or started and stopped (as is common with other refurbs unfortunately). Looks like I'll be adding a request to my room reservation.

Someone in an AKL Facebook group posted this week they were on Ostrich Trail and did not have a refurbished room. But they did have a great view for a standard room!

Starting to get REALLY excited for our January trip...have a question...when we went last time, we had planned on walking over to Kidani at some point but never made it there. This trip our flight arrives much earlier in the day so we'll have almost an entire resort day to start our vacation. Is it worth it to walk over to Kidani? And, if the weather is nice, are we allowed to use both pools? THANKS!

The walk is not bad at all, probably took us about 10 minutes to walk to the Kidani pool from the Jambo lobby. There's also a shuttle that will take you between the two buildings if you don't want to walk. You can most definitely use both pools! The Kidani pool has a kids splash area which they don't have at Jambo.

A popular request for a first time visit w/ savanna view booked is Zebra trail, Arusha savanna view. Zebra trail because it’s very convenient to the pool and quick service restaurant. Arusha savanna because it’s the central savanna right behind the lobby. If you want to be more eye level w/ animals ask for lower floor, looking down at them ask for upper floor (4th floor is as high as a regular room will be.)

Although booked standard and obviously like everyone else who books this tier would like a Savannah partial view (not even slightly getting my hopes up as it's just a request, nothing more), would you still check in online with a couple of requests such as which floor, close to x for example or wait until you check in then and there?
Just wondering which is potentially the better chance of getting the partial Savannah view?

The rule of thumb is always pick one request that is the most important, and when you call/fax make sure that is indicated in some way, and also don't make too may requests. So, you have to choose what is the most important to you, and go from there.

Once you arrive and get a room, you can request a different one if one is available, but you may have to wait longer, or even move after a night.

Realize that online check in these days will only have a couple of boxes with very few very generic requests like near lobby or near transportation. There is no place to type in more specific requests such as 3rd floor, Kudu trail, etc.. Plus lately people report online check in often isn’t even working (for any resort, not just AKL.)
To make requests I’ve always called WDW and had them noted on my reservation, but, depending on the cost for you to make an international call, you might consider paying for the room request thing through the private company - not sure of the name - Touring plans, maybe, - they email your request to your resort.
