It's MARVEL-ous on the MAGIC! Oct 2017 Canada Coast Cruise COMPLETE! See Ya Real Soon!

Always love your trip reports!!! thank you so much for always sharing - I work right on the water by the ferry on Vesey Street - I could have waved to you all!!!

I'm finally here, and all caught up!

Reading this is making the wait for our Disney cruise soon much harder! I've been on two DCL cruises…in 2012 we got married on the Magic , and in 2016 my mom and I took the kids on the Dream, and we have never don't the Palo brunch :sad2: I plan to rectify that when Mike and I go in October, especially after seeing all your pics! That just looks amazing :worship:

I don't know how I feel about the spa…that's something else I've never done. I just don't see myself as a spa person…I think I wouldn't really know what to do in there and would end up feeling awkward :rotfl2:

I love your Jack and Sally pics! And since Mike and I are doing a Halloween cruise next October, following 5 nights at the Poly, this means we can skip the character lines during MNSSHP next year. We ended up waiting about 2 hours to meet them on Halloween :crazy2:

Steve's parents are cute…I can't wait to see if his dad actually smiles :D

Awww shucks ;)

It's true! You're like queen of the solo trip! You and Billie!

Always love your trip reports!!! thank you so much for always sharing - I work right on the water by the ferry on Vesey Street - I could have waved to you all!!!

Thank you so much! *waves back*

I’m so jealous of your day already. The rainforest room looks so relaxing and that PALO food porn is amazing!

I love the beginning of a cruise...so much to look forward to!

I'm finally here, and all caught up!

Yay!! Great to see you here!

That's amazing you got married on DCL! Must have been magical!!
Palo brunch is really a must do!! We love it!

Haha the nice thing is that you don't really have to do anything at all. Just relax.

I love your Jack and Sally pics! And since Mike and I are doing a Halloween cruise next October, following 5 nights at the Poly, this means we can skip the character lines during MNSSHP next year. We ended up waiting about 2 hours to meet them on Halloween :crazy2:

Thank you!
For sure it's a great place to meet characters! We met so many on the cruise I didn't feel the need to during our trip to WDW the week after! But I still got some :)

Steve's parents are cute…I can't wait to see if his dad actually smiles :D

Haha for the record, his dad just doesn't smile, or it's like a delayed smile...he'll smile after the picture is taken. haha.

Hi Su-Lynn

Thank you for all your trip reports! You are so generous with sharing your experiences!

How do you make hyperlinks, and post photos and videos to your website?

What a perfect day at sea!!! After you describing the rainforest room I'm wondering why I don't have one in my house :-) Still sitting in my jammies on a lazy Sunday morning, a nice scrub and shower sounds like perfection.

Speaking of perfection, brunch looks divine! Reminds me a lot of California Grill, except for the desserts of course which looked out of this world. Will have to make sure to do this one of these days when we go on a cruise.

Between the spa and that brunch, you’ve sold me on a cruise! Wow, wow, wow!!!! The heated lounge chairs look delightful. A window to see the water would be perfection!! And that food. Oh my. How sweet that they made you some strawberry soup! Do they put a time limit on the meal? LOL. I could easily see spending a few hours there with champagne and all those yummies!! So glad Steve’s family enjoyed it!

Also following along. We are going on our 5th Disney cruise next month. Have never tried Palo, I think we're due.
Can't decide brunch or dinner...
I love how you explore the ship on your own, I do that too... love it. DH and DS go to bed and I go out taking photos, grabbing a drink, walking around... I try to take in the little details.
Only problem is sneaking back into our cabin...:tiptoe: and not waking anyone.. and getting up the next morning of course ;)

Day 2 Part 3: InFormal Night

After our gigantic brunch, we were amazed we could do anything but I wanted to keep active and not pass out like I normally would. I checked the Navigator on the app and it said that the Oceaneer Lab was having an open house so we headed over there. They have these hand washing stations which you have to use before entering all the kids areas (so fun!) so we used those and entered the lab. The lab was basically just lots of space for kids to run around and they had these themed rooms as well as some crafts and a computer/game area.

Even though it was pretty empty during open house I still had a great time. I love exploring new parts of the ship especially those area which are reserved for kids, because let's face it, these spaces are pretty darn cool!

We all split up at this time again - think Steve and his dad went to watch one of the Marvel movies playing in the Buena Vista theater, which is the smaller theater located on deck 5. They were constantly playing movies all day so you can just duck in and out if you like. Not sure what Steve's Aunt and Mom were up to, they might have succumbed to napping or they might have went exploring.

Oh and a PSA about the movies or any theater show, if you bring your refillable popcorn bucket from the parks, you CAN get them refilled on the ship! Literally the best news ever when I heard that so I brought my popcorn bucket from August with me. Apparently they don't expire on the ships like they do at the parks, so bring any color bucket, and they will refill it for 1.50!

I decided this was a good time to start delivering the Fish Extender gifts. I had a whole suitcase just for this! So I went back to the room to gather everything...but first a small detour in the atrium to meet some friends on vacation:

I went back to the stateroom and gathered all my gifts. I had them all labeled and divided into sections of the ship, foward, midship and aft. I'm usually not this coordinated but I knew that if I didn't do this that I would be all over the place and would probably be back-tracking way too much, so I set out and managed to deliver all of my gifts! Glad that everyone had their Fish Extenders out! Took me about 45 minutes to figure out where everyone's stateroom was.

It was my first Fish Extender program on a cruise and since I am not crafty I bought all the presents. To anyone wondering, I was part of an adults-only FE and my gifts were a Mickey drawstring backpack for girls, and a matching lanyard for guys. I also included a Mickey-shaped bottle opener as a shared room gift. Some of the gifts we did receive were tote bags, some had logos sewn or painted on, handmade items such as cup cozies and tissue holders in Marvel and Disney-themed fabrics, hot chocolate mix-ins, notebooks, even got a plastic tray with a Mickey anchor designed in contact paper. Some very creative gifts out there! I had fun but if we weren't leaving form NY I probably won't participate in one again just because there's a lot of stuff to pack!

I walked across the pool decks again and found more people lounging around. It had warmed up a bit but it wasn't like prime pool weather so I did not go into the pools at all on this cruise.

Oh and look a Dole Whip Float! I didn't have one then as I was too full and then I forgot about it the rest of the cruise. From what I hear it is not the same as the ones in the parks though.

I spent the rest of the late afternoon and dusk on our veranda enjoying some reading on my Kindle. Here's some pictures I took. I was trying to master the "gazing out to sea with a a blissful state of pensiveness" as if I did this all the time. But I don't think I was successful.

Note, I had no internet reception and I didn't want to pay for Connect @SEA so I was probably playing Candy Crush.

Here was me the rest of the day:

Great view, some wine, good reads. That's all I need!

I don't know how it got to be evening again, as I barely did anything all day aside from eat, but soon it was time to get ready for dinner. I had also skipped this evening's show of the Twice Charmed Cinderella show. It's not that it's a bad show, it's just that I was so into relaxing and reading that I didn't want to disrupt the reverie, so my in-laws went to watch it without us. I don't think Steve watched it either as he came back to the room for a nap before dinner.

This evening's theme was formal night, but not everyone does "formal" really, you'll see everything from evening gowns, to just polo shirts, to shorts. It's entirely optional. I just wore a black lace dress which I found for 24 dollars on amazon (link here) and my Avengers statement necklace!

Steve decided that Khakis and a polo were as dressed up as he was going to be.
We chanced upon Chip n Dale, and they pointed to my MARVEL Avengers necklace and gestured what I was going to be tomorrow? (I had to have help from the CM to understand). When I told Dale, he went nuts as they said he was going to be the same character! So somehow though a bunch of gestures, the CM translated that we must get a picture together, and I promised that I would personally hunt Dale down and get a picture together the next day! Dale was so happy!

There was the Captain's Gala going on in the Atrium which meant free drinks so we headed down there, and Steve got a red wine while I got myself one of these fruity things:

Of course we bump into Steve's parents as we were holding our drinks, haha. #lushes

We had some time until dinner so Steve said he'll take my parents around while I continued wandering. I wandered into O'Gills and saw they had a small buffet set up, so I got myself some nachos and sat to eat them.
There were also hot dogs and wings I think, mostly finger food.

Then I heard my name and I look up and it's Shelly whom we met at the Facebook Group meet n greet! So we sat and chatted for a bit, which was awesome as I didn't have to sit by myself as I stuffed my face with nachos and drank my tropical drink. I said bye to Shelly as it got closer to our dinner time and left to join everyone at Carioca's which was our dining rotation for tonight.

Carioca's is the tropical latin-themed restaurant which they are re-doing during the next Magic dry-dock to the Tangled themed restaurant. I can't wait! It's going to be awesome! For now though, it was still Carioca's. If you can imagine the Three Caballeros ride as a restaurant, it would be this.

Apparently Steve felt that his polo shirt was too under-dressed so he changed into his shirt and jacket, which was really unnecessary in any case.

Our bread that evening was a banana bread with a mango dipping sauce. Very good, probably my favorite bread of the week.

And a tomato soup which had some jalepeno in it. This soup was so good, it was actually better than the one from Palo! It just had a nice thick, savory, and spicy bite to it which I preferred. It had a touch of creme fraiche in it which I loved.

As my main course I got the pan-seared seabass. It was served with all this shaved fennel, which I don't care for and scraped off, but the seabass underneath was really good. It was like chilean seabass which is my favorite, it had a good sear and was overall one of my favorite entrees out of dinners that week. The cream sauce was also quite good with the fish. If they leave off the fennel it'll be perfect!

After dinner, it was fairly late but I told them that Cinderella was meeting over by the Walt Disney Theater after the late show of Twice Charmed so we headed over to meet her.

She was a sweetheart as usual, and no matter how dressed up I am I always feel like a slob next to the princesses.

I stuck around for a while longer to meet the charming Goofy in his formal attire.

What a fun afternoon! The view from your veranda is stunning. Love the dress you wore to dinner as well - so pretty. You got so many great character pictures this trip. So cute they’re also in formal attire! Can’t wait to hear about Marvel day at sea!!

Hi Su-Lynn

Thank you for all your trip reports! You are so generous with sharing your experiences!

How do you make hyperlinks, and post photos and videos to your website?

Hi! Thank you for reading! I really appreciate it!
Are you talking about my blog? I use a Wordpress template and I paid for a design from Prophotoblogs.com. It was a little bit of work to set up but now I just go through wordpress.com to update the blog and add pictures and links. I host most of my pictures on google and then copy the link to the picture to use on my blog as well as here on the DISboards for my trip reports.

What a perfect day at sea!!! After you describing the rainforest room I'm wondering why I don't have one in my house :-) Still sitting in my jammies on a lazy Sunday morning, a nice scrub and shower sounds like perfection.

I don't know why I don't have one in my house either! The closest thing is the heated front passenger seat of my car. If I tilt the seat back enough...it may seem like a lounger, no? Hahahaha.
I really loved the steam and shower. Your skin will never feel so soft until you give youreslf the daily scrubs!

Speaking of perfection, brunch looks divine! Reminds me a lot of California Grill, except for the desserts of course which looked out of this world. Will have to make sure to do this one of these days when we go on a cruise.

Yup absolutely it totally reminds me of California Grill, but perhaps taken up a notch! Think you need to get on DCL at some point!

LOL I am glad I've inspired you to take a Disney cruise! I have so much fun on them I think everyone should experience them!
There really is no limit on the Palo brunch, they don't tend to overbook it and our cruise had less people than usual so we got to take our time. Think we were there for 2 hours.
Only the first champagne drink is included the rest I think you have to pay for, but it's still worth it!

Hi and welcome! Oh wow, I guess you guys have made it to Gold? That's awesome. I think Palo brunch would definitely be the better choice. We did both brunch and dinner and loved brunch so much more. Dinner - you don't get that nice of a view since it's so dark out, plus brunch is half buffet which makes it more fun - and the dessert...so much more selection. I did love the dover sole at dinner though. It'll be coming up on the last night of our cruise.
I loved exploring the ship on my own. It was a lot of fun, I just totally felt like in the moment, and that I was in my own little Disney world. I'm glad you enjoy doing so too! I'm sure you're as silent as a mouse now, and who needs sleep on a Disney cruise? Hahaha.

What a fun afternoon! The view from your veranda is stunning. Love the dress you wore to dinner as well - so pretty. You got so many great character pictures this trip. So cute they’re also in formal attire! Can’t wait to hear about Marvel day at sea!!

That marvel necklace is awesome! Sea days are the best, especially when it involves some eating and relaxing. I cannot wait to see what Chip and Dale dress up as.

Little late to join but I'm all caught up. This looks like such a fun cruise, will have to add to my list. I love cruising out of NY, it's close to home and as a native it's a nice way to take in the skyline since most of the time I'm running around from point A to B and don't stop to appreciate it. Next time I will have to wave to you from under the Verrazano since I live around there. :wave2:
The Rainforest spa looks so relaxing. Love your pictures.

Love the Marvel charm necklace, too cute!

And you looked gorgeous in that black dress, so NOT a slob next to any princess!!!

Haha, oh my gosh Steve's dad is the best.... "I'm having a good time, I swear" o_O

The navigator for MDAS is so colourful, very neat (I guess to give it the look of a comic book?)

They have these hand washing stations which you have to use before entering all the kids areas (so fun!) so we used those and entered the lab.

Cute! And also very smart! Confined spaces with kids = hand-washing is a must!

think Steve and his dad went to watch one of the Marvel movies playing in the Buena Vista theater, which is the smaller theater located on deck 5. They were constantly playing movies all day so you can just duck in and out if you like.

This is cool!

Awesome!!

Here's me casually pretending to check my email on my phone, because I you know, I do this all the time on my fictitious boat:

7PpdSi_PTHo5kCIrG7Lpe6AoELr0Bu-2QBDN0GXVNsPUVA5mWayWQ5-aAmck6pI2e0xa1VS0p1Dr3fWAEqZU0RCET6HbEV_UXnh5yTXfPG_EITxhr9CXlv2yABtRNkd6TtS5SfftY7QNQRRqUWTrDL5m5LgDkp1DBKGA_7HtlkL5CKwff21a8G1PC7OEldTeQuQjbRirv90rBE7zPnejZvNamS6tvh0SlpOYj-w1RPyLYjAQ19erNWz6r3Q9VwOjLwaTfo9Q7RKWBNMBq_pHxPmPqKB2aXGJbT_5pZrSyTxugXwDcxf9dsNpy6HmGH7WXvNbJDRT-JXYirJilTumhpkUJXrIV5j-py5D_iMBZjmssYfNspuzX6CN58oiDpxjDeEL1rXQFt-tOqPdvxbhkCzsTx9hLPsI8To7MdR5o5y0H9_m0TJ8JycmgYlVZ1wf4rVCYZul3kXe6rpTcJNkK9IYb5sUli5QP5UEAxXJzIlQEs9cp9YOklUH60Jwlu4tE2bzBl5CWL2g9SHX9TWaVJ98cC1V3zkjiaNQbZIJktiDO7qJs1jXFrydN7FvlJjuMt5KPaL4tl0VyFbK0_bk1h6eaS3uUDtxZsEg3qmhVck=w800-h600-no

Nice picture, though!!

as I barely did anything all day aside from eat, but soon it was time to get ready for dinner.

Sounds like my kinda day!

How awesome! I love this interaction!

As my main course I got the pan-seared seabass. It was served with all this shaved fennel, which I don't care for and scraped off, but the seabass underneath was really good. It was like chilean seabass which is my favorite, it had a good sear and was overall one of my favorite entrees out of dinners that week.

I love that seabass entree. I wonder if I’ll miss it on the Magic this summer. I bet I’ll get over it because the Rapunzel restaurant is cool though.

As always your fashion is on point!

Yessss, Cap front and center!

I was a much happier person before I knew this Cap shirt existed. Now I'm incomplete.

So cute! Love your shirt.

It LOOKS delicious, bummer it didn't live up to its appearance

It's so pretty in there!

I LOVE sea days, it's kinda like forced relaxation,

This sounds perfect, I always leave Disney so tired.

Love that the crab legs are split. King crab is delicious but I hate breaking them open because I always get stabbed.

STRAWBERRY SOUP JUST FOR ME

So sweet they made that happen for you!

You look lovely and you nailed that princess pose!

I decided this was a good time to start delivering the Fish Extender gifts.
How fun! I've heard that term before but didn't really know what it was about - I was counting on you for an explanation, so thanks for that! :thumbsup2

Of course we bump into Steve's parents as we were holding our drinks, haha. #lushes
:rotfl2:

If you can imagine the Three Caballeros ride as a restaurant, it would be this.
Ooooh, so I'd love this!

Looks like we're on a hot date!!:goofy:
It does! ::yes:: :laughing:

I think I hesitated to click on your TR because I was having Palo envy. it's been nine months since my last visit there and another nine months before I'll go again!

We too lamented the demise of the strawberry soup, but I'll ask if they can make us some next August. It seems that on any day that you have Palo brunch, it feels like all you do is eat!

I'm definitely purchasing the Rainforest room pass for the week on the Fantasy. If for nothing else the shower is great, but the hot tubs and tile loungers are a strong draw as well.

I love your dress and Steve looks very nice in his suit. Great pictures with the characters in their formal wear.
