Is it too early to start planning for October 2011?

I hope not, cause I've already been planning this one for over a year! I just can’t stand it anymore. 2011 packages are out, so now this trip seems more real!

My family thinks I'm crazy for planning this trip already...they won't admit it but they are ALL excited too!!

The real reason for starting a PTR is that I'm going to need some HELP! I've been the planner for our last 4 trips, but this one is a a little overwhelming to me!! I’m not sure why, maybe cause there is 8 of us? Our biggest group was 5…and we didn’t have any kids with us then. I will admit, I have started PTRs before…but never finished them. I love reading about other’s trips and can easily waste away an afternoon completely engrossed in them

So where do I begin? The basics I guess?

The Who? There is 8 of us going, but I’m not sure if we qualify as a Grand Gathering or not because DD will still be considered free. She is going to turn 3 on this trip… I guess we’ll start with her and then go up in age!

This is DD- 21 months old, Elizabeth, aka: Lizzie, Liz, Lou Lou. My MIL started sing “Skip to my Lou” to her when she was just a few months old and she would dance to it (or wiggle anyway!) So she started calling her Lizzie Lou which turned into Lou Lou. So now just about everyone calls her Lou Lou. Here she is on her 1st trip which was this past spring.

Up next, my niece Lilly- 4 (or is it Lily, I don’t know because even her parents can’t decide). She will be 5 on this trip & it will be her 1st trip. She lives in Michigan, with my brother & his girlfriend. It’s a very complicated story with lots of drama, but she is the youngest of 6 kids between my brother & his xwife. Lilly is a very sweet & loving little girl with a lot of spunk. She is very tall for her age & think she is easily going to hit 6’ or close to it by the times she is done growing. Here she is with my DD a few weeks ago when she came to visit us.

DSIL is next. Crystal- 28. I tell her she is celebrating her last year in her 20’s…it’s a vacation to really act like a kid again! She is the type of person who will bend over backwards for you in a pinch but hates to plan anything. Everything is always last minute. Currently she is a bartender & going to school. I think she is still on the nursing degree. Here she is on our 2008 trip.

Me, Katie- 31…Yikes…that means I’m in my 30’s. I’m a SAHM, but also babysit for 4 other little ones (not all at the same time). DH & I will be celebrating our 5 yr Anniversary on this trip. I’m the Disney Addict who makes SOMEONE in my family go back. I spend too much time day dreaming about the “next” Disney trip. I tear up at the first sight of the castle, giggle during IASW, can’t ride the big rides because of motion sickness, and hate to miss out on anything Disney. I would love to own DVC, but it is not likely any time in the near future.

DH, Wes- 32. He is an EMT/Firefighter. Loves his job and works a ton of hours so I can stay home. He never plans anything Disney but loves the trips no matter what we do. He is very laid back & easy going. Here we are on our honeymoon

HA HA…just kidding…here it is:

DMIL, Ellayne-50’s. She’ll kill if she knows I posted her picture on here...lol Lets see, how to describe my MIL. We get along great but she drives me crazy! She says some off the wall stuff and never pays attention. Hasn’t worked since…um, the 80’s maybe? And doesn’t drive.

DFIL, Jerry- 50’s. Retired Police Officer. Spent 30 years working the streets and then had to take his disability due to some health problems. We’ll be renting an ECV for him because he can’t walk long distances. He drinks a little too much, smokes way too much…and doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. He loves his grandbaby more than anything and has shed more than a few tears when she does anything cute. She said “Love Papa” the other night and I thought we were going to need some tissues. He can be a hard “you-know-what” when he wants to be but is really a very sweet man. This is their picture from our 2008 trip

And Last is my DM, Mary-50’s. What can I say about my mom. She is the strongest, most driven woman I have ever known. No matter how many times she has been knocked down, she just stands up, dusts herself off, and finds a way to move on. She & my Dad divorced when I was 15. Since then she has done accounting, been a dealer at casinos in Detroit & Biloxi, and now drives a bus for the city. A few years ago she decided she wanted to move to Biloxi, MS to semi-retire. Work part time as a dealer for the casinos & live by the beach. Until Hurricane Katrina hit. She came to Nashville to stay with us for a few days until the storm blew over. Well the storm destroyed her job, SO… what did she do? She moved to Nashville, got a job & made a life. Just moved on…that’s my mom. I can’t even to begin to describe the pride I feel in being her daughter. This is her on our last trip this past spring… I love this picture. Its my favorite.

So that’s us.

Where & When?
DFIL only request is that we stay at the Fort Wilderness Cabins again.

Who am I to say second guess? We love it there. It feels like home. We are the type of people who enjoy the outdoors. He also likes it because he only has to walk a few steps to smoke. At the Resorts you have to find a smoking area… that is not ok with DFIL. Now DMIL, yes…she will just go for a walk to people watch & find the smoking area. DFIL will not. He would rather pay the fines & smoke in the room. So this is the best compromise. We have tried everything to get them to quit smoking…NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
Another reason we like FW is the Trails End buffet. On our 2008 trip we ate there every morning. Well, every morning but one. That afternoon, at AK, everyone had a meltdown. Big disagreements ensued..which resulted in the decision that we will ALWAYS start our day with breakfast. I'm going to work in some character breakfast this time, but on our "late" mornings we will make it a point to eat at Trails End.

Our dates are not set in stone yet. Right now, ideally it would be October 29 – November 5, 2011. 7 nights & 8 days at my very favorite place on earth. The days may change slightly, depending on my mom’s vacation schedule but this will definitely be a minimum of 7 days and we have to check in before November 2. Why November 2? Its DD birthday… and I want to get one more trip in before I have to pay for her.

So up next… the first & biggest dilemma!
