Investor Call Managing Expectations

Having an investor call and managing expectations after a quarterly release is a pretty good ploy by most companies to get the news out there, but not really having it make a big splash on the Floor. Many individual shareholders will wait for a quarterly release, get the news, and then not pay all that much attention to the stock news until the next quarter. Therefore, there's not a really big sell-off in the stock. 2% is a decent sell off, but in this unstable market, it certainly could have been a lot more, had they stated this on the quarterly conference call.

Another far more savvy investor who posted here recently did state that while park & resort attendance may take a hit, Disney is so well diversified that they will weather any type of downturn in the parks fairly well. When people don't go to the parks, they stay home, watch TV, more ESPN, more Disney Channel, etc. So, the stock may not waiver all that much.

I'd be interested to know which "investors" were in on this call. Equity analysts or fund managers?
