Here we are on Chapter 4 already...this group of women and one guy from around the world. So vastly different in so many ways...yet tied together through the common goal of becoming healthy in our lives, our food choices and to ourselves.

This is a thread about weight loss as well as life change because one cannot exist without the other.

Our lives may seem out of control at times..other moments we may seem to want to control our lives...but the one thing that none of us has any control over is that we are human and as such...need food.

The amount, the type, the cost and the preperation is the only thing we have any say over.

Do you binge?...starve?...eat cheap?...eat too much of a good thing?...eat too little veggies and fruits?...eat out?...eat in by yourself where noone watches?...eat what you find in the firdge?...or in the phone book under pizza...hide behind the diet coke at McDonalds?

There are so many negatives to our relationship with food...and then in turn...with ourselves...

We gain...we loose...we plateau...we work out..we fall off the bike and do not jump back on...we read...we obsess...we attend classes...we do it on our own..and with the help of others...

But at the end of the day...the difference that each of us comes to is ourselves.

Because we cannot be successfull without believing in ourselves first...loving ourselves best and becoming goddesses within ourselves without regret.

You will find here...some who have found the piece to their healthy living puzzle...they have lost huge amounts of weight, became Olympic athletes in their own right and inspired others with daily dedication to that puzzle piece that still is evading some of us.

You will also find here...some people...who are finding out which way that puzzle piece fits into their lives...which direction to turn it so that the edges line up and nothing is forced...nothing will pop back out when that puzzle is moved because it was not the right fit...

We all are though...on the road to loving ourselves and our lives more than before...and nurturing a healthy relationship with food and our bodies...We want to see what we feel inside...we want to love the person who looks back at us in the mirror...

It is in those moments...
when we hold up the mirror...
love what is reflected back...
and choose to make it the best reflection it can be...

that we will be...

"Inspiring Others...1 Tiara at a Time."

CAST:

Dizneydawn (Minnesota)
#1 Name and Family you care to share plus a little about your weight struggles/programs you are on:Dawn age 37...I have 3 kids - (M) Treyner is 17, (F) Carsyn is 15 and (M)Baylor is 12 1/2. Dan is the man in my life God blessed me to have at a time I thought love would never be in my vocabulary...and you may hear of Chad - he is the kid's Dad and sometimes refered here as "Giant Turd" (BTW: who coined that? E was that you?)
I currently weigh about 250 - and have been doing WW for about 2 months - not faithfully though! My goal is 145...and that will be achievable!
#2 What are some of your trigger foods? Carbs...in all forms...pasta, bread..sweet crusty sourdough...and many cookies...
#3 What form of excersize (activity) would you love to do but have limmited yourself from due to weight/confidence? I want to scuba dive in the worst way...and many outdoor activities that my size has scared me away from...like white water rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing (oh...that might be my nails deterring there!)
#4 Occupation (if legal)Tupperware DIQ
#5 What do you want to achieve from a healthier body / lifestyle? Shop and not worry if they have clothes to fit in the store, not be worried about booths at restraunts, not worry about lap bars on rides...play a game of soccer with my kids without them taking it easy on me...
#6 If you could celebrate with anything when you reach/ed goal, what would it be...or what would it have been?A trip to the Keys...and have a boat chartered for a few days also...with some beautiful, white, cotton shirts and skirts...

3DisneyKids (Maine)
#1 Name and Family you care to share plus a little about your weight struggles/programs you are on:Me, Erika (38) married to Jeff (41) with three kids; boy (9) and two girls (7 and almost 6). Program: I run like a crazy person and workout like all the time. Sort of calorie counting but need to get better.
#2 What are some of your trigger foods?I am pretty good here. I don't eat crap...just too much in general.
#3 What form of exercise (activity) would you love to do but have limited yourself from due to weight/confidence?Surfing! I live on the coast and have always been an ocean girl. And I miss surfing. Wetsuits are no friend to those with even the slightest bulge.
#4 Occupation (if legal)
University professor for a uni here in Maine. Ph.D. in Behavioral Science. I teach primarily online so that I can work around my kids' schedules. As such, I am online a lot. Note my prolific posting.
#5 What do you want to achieve from a healthier body / lifestyle?A smokin' hot bod. This sounds trite, but it is real. I have always been healthy, even when overweight. 40 is right around the corner and if I have to turn 40, I want to be freaking fabulous!
#6 If you could celebrate with anything when you reach/ed goal, what would it be...or what would it have been?Lots of stuff, really. New wardrobe, of course. Disney cruise...a must. A trip with my new BFFs in Dec!

AKASnowWhite (CT)
#1 Name and Family you care to share plus a little about your weight struggles/programs you are on:Nancy (42) married for *almost* 20 years (anniv. 10/1) to DH(Stephen -46)...3 kids...2 boys, Seth-17 & Nate-15 and girl Becca-who will be 13 in November
#2 What are some of your trigger foods?
oh. just "some"? Bread. Cheese. and Wine. Definitely wine. I don't really eat "bad" food - just too much of the good stuff.
#3 What form of excersize (activity) would you love to do but have limmited yourself from due to weight/confidence? (Steph...be PG... )
I don't feel limited by my weight at this point in time...
#4 Occupation (if legal)
Paid job (part time, full time during the fall) I work at a local apple orchard where I cook in the farm kitchen - open year 'round, but insanely busy during the "apple season". Other than the owner, the only full-time employee.
Non-paying job (more of a hobby gone wrong! )- we raise goats. Lots and lots of goats. Both dairy (for the milk) and meat. I make and sell goat milk soap with some of my excess milk.
#5 What do you want to achieve from a healthier body / lifestyle?I know how much better I feel when I'm not carrying the excess that I have right now - and when I'm eating a much "cleaner" diet. And when I feel good, I think that really has a positive effect on my whole outlook and attitude
#6 If you could celebrate with anything when you reach/ed goal, what would it be...or what would it have been?ummm..dunno. I've been at goal. And I'm working on it again! Does it seem right to reward myself for a "do-over"? Guess it's time to re-evaluate that one.

Lisa, DH Mike, DD13 Shelby and DS7 (today) David. Yes, I was in the delivery room on 9/11/01. I had post baby weight gain in my 30s, post baby and post caring. Then I lost my dad to colon cancer when I was 37. Rocked my world. I decided to eat better, exercise more and live longer than he did.
#2 What are some of your trigger foods?Trigger foods: Ummm....food. I love to eat. Oh, and beer darn it... You know the shirt "will run for beer", I live it.
#3 What form of excersize (activity) would you love to do but have limmited yourself from due to weight/confidence?

#2 What are some of your trigger foods? My trigger moments are more important than my foods. When bored, suffering ennui, or deep-bone sad, I turn to ice cream and popcorn. I will cross alligators to eat popcorn, but when in sound mind can eat it in moderation. I also love bread, good cheese, and all types of booze.
#3 What form of exercise (activity) would you love to do but have limited yourself from due to weight/confidence?
I have become a runner. A baby runner, to be sure, and my a$$ still slaps alarmingly as a I run, but I can do it now. However, I want to do it unobserved, so I go for the cardio theater at the gym - dark and cool and no one can see you - or run outside where no one else is. I don't want to be watched running pathetically.
#4 Occupation (if legal)
I am a freelance writer and editor. Currently, I work with a start-up helping them with writing projects and managing their project planning and setting realistic goals. I also work with clients who are writing books - in my former life I was a fulltime book editor in NYC.

#6 If you could celebrate with anything when you reach/ed goal, what would it be...or what would it have been?I will celebrate with an expensive pair of jeans, a trip to Dec to meet my DIS buddies on this thread, and I am tossing around getting my teeth whitened.

I just had a Timon and Pumba moment...."leave your behind in the past".

Now - *everyone* knows how techinically challenged I am...so I'm not going to even ask if it's possible to quote a post from one thread onto another....so I'm going back to "Chapter 3" 'cause I think I had something I wanted to say!!!

You can do it Nancy...just hit the quote button from the other thread and then come here and hit post reply...and viola! The post from the other thread in this one. Magic.

Good Morning Ladies and Dan!

Not much going on here! Going to watch the Football game at a friends house today on her Big screen and surround sound, she said it should feel like we are actually at the game without being cold!YAY I don't like being cold!

So I hope that everyone had a safe travel (kat)

Erika I hope that Kelly is on the mend! I will keep her in our prayers! If you need to talk my phone is always on!

Ok need to go feed my boys and try to get Zachary's blood sugar back in check. He was at my MIL since thursday and his blood sugar has been out of control since! She has candy hidden all over the house, mind you that she is a diabetic (type 2) also.
I was telling nancy I managed to sit across from my SIL without telling her off to much. ( she is the one that my MIL took custody of her child) She is now pregnant for child two( some people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce, she is one of them). She was complaining the whole time yesterday that yasmine wasn't being properly taken care of by my 67 year old MIL. I wanted to scream well step up mother of the year! She complained about MIL giving her candy and with all the diabetes in the family she needed to watch her sugar intake. At that point I lost it and told her that candy had NOTHING TO DO WITH DIABETES! And she complained that yasmines sugar was all over the place when she was born and that it scares her now because of zac and nate. UMM well guess what I said Neither of them had those problems, so get over it! A few times I had to text my other SIL "is she FOR REAL???" I thought she was going to bust a gut! Stephen managed to get me out before I totally lost it on her! Ok enough of my rant!

Hope that everyone has a great Day!

#1 Name/Family

Kelly. DH, Alan - married since August. No kids but we do have two turtles called Ant and Dec (Named after 2 TV presenters here in the UK :rotfl2: )

#2 What you are the Most Proud of for the Year 2008 in terms of weight loss/excersize/healthy choices

I am most proud of getting to my target weight for my wedding, which I acheived with healthy eating and exercise.

#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living

To lose this now 15lbs (urgh) and get back to my target weight. I will exercise more (not hard as my exercise at the minute is zero) and drink much more water than I do.

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals

Just your support, an ear to vent to, hugs when needed - everything you are doing for me now

#5 A famous person you would love to have the body of...because each of us has a different body style and the realities that go along with it...

Hmm, tough one. Maybe J-Lo as mentioned above - not skinny, great curves!

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies...

It would have to be water. I once read that when you think you are hungry you should have a drink of water - what you think is hunger is often just thirst! If it is hunger, I will try to turn to fruit instead of chocolate!

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! :lmao: )
[/QUOTE]

Im here for the group support. I cant lose weight on my own, i've tried. In this group Ive found a fabulous set of ladies and one guy who are fighting their own battles, but never hesitate to offer support and hugs when needed

Paula - who knew you were such a biker chick, good job!

Steph - Don't you want to just pick up in-laws and shake them?

#1 Name/Family: Stacey, DH - Bruce, Pupster - Lucy:dog:

#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living: to continue to work out, start to eat better, and get to a healthier place. In a more short term goal, i'd like to lose 25 lbs by my May 09 vacation to Disney!

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals: Just the support and love that seems to ooze out of all of your pores without trying, you are really a great bunch, and i need to stop running away whenever I have a bad stretch, and come here and really embrace the blessing I have in all of you.

Erika - I just wanted to say I am thinking of you, Kelly and all your family. I hope that shes on the mend soon

I saw Twilight last night. All I can say is Oh. My. Goodness.

Another disgusting, gray morning here. Foggy again...wicked warm (for us, anyway...) it's 9:30 in the morning, and the temp is already near 50*. If the fog clears this afternoon I just *might* bust out the bike!

I was telling nancy I managed to sit across from my SIL without telling her off to much.

 Quite the accomplishment....I get my *lovely* SIL on New Years Day, when my family celebrates Christmas together. Makes for a rather mellow New Years Eve - 'cause if I were hung over...would NOT be a pretty sight! ;)

I did 30 day shred for the first time on Friday, holy god, my legs/abs/arms are still screaming.

Yeah, but it's a GOOD pain. :rolleyes1

I'll answer the roll call later...off to shower before church...extra prayers for all of you who need them...

So, update here...

Nancy and Paula, I can't tell you how your words hit me. Thank you so much for your faith in me. I'm failing miserably, here. The person in question is going to go home hurting and I will have done nothing to make it okay. It's so very sad to me.

Amy - ah, yes, what we need is a sticky baby! Thank you. She is brimming over with joy and fear. She is so reticent that to hear her voice her fears is both shocking and good. But so sad, because again, I want to say it will be alright and I can't say that yet.

Erika - call me anytime if you need me.

I'm sorry, friends, I am so preoccupied here that I'm afraid it's another day or two before I can properly respond to all of you. But I am reading.

So, today I would kill to see my SIL. Yes, it's true. I know we have swapped SIL stories, but the truth is I'd love to see her. See, she didn't come. She's not here. At the last minute she decided not to get on a the plane from Dublin, and my BIL who is here for two weeks, is all alone. Literally. No wife for Christmas, and the day Christmas after his parents and my husband both left for trips. So it's him alone at his childhood home, working and hurting and it's breaking my heart. I am trying to be there, to include him in our life, and although we have been quite close and he has certainly spent time with me without his brother or parents and I've even been his sounding board pre-marriage, nothing. He is completely withdrawing.

At 22 (he's 31 now) he spent a good two weeks discussing his failing love relationship with me. When he met his wife, we he decided to move to London to be with her (they now live in her home country of Ireland), all of it discussed. His tendency is to withdraw, but he's always been able to break through it in bad times and talk to me. If it's not too bad, it's his dad and brother he talks to, and if it's bad, it's his mom and me. But right now, it's no one. And that is very bad.

I don't think the marriage is over or there's infidelity or anything like that. I just know he's so upset he can't talk. So there he sits, alone, sad, at Christmastime. And here I am, having been able to do nothing to make it even a bit better.

it just makes me want to cry.

I'm signing back in! Perfect timing for a new thread! A small update ~ my back isn't killing me like yesterday, so the massage did some good. It's still a little tough getting up and down. I'm off to the old thread to catch up on the last few posts.

#1 Name/Family - Amiee - myself, DS9 - Ryan, DD4 going on 14 - Taylor, and I am a single mom. I have been comfortable with being single for 5 years, but it is getting very old! There has to be a guy out there who would accept me for me and not hesitate when he hears that I am a mom. Sorry, I'm ranting a bit!

#2 What you are the Most Proud of for the Year 2008 in terms of weight loss/excersize/healthy choices - I am most proud of my -35lbs since July. Slipped off the bandwagon a bit, but I am eager to get back on.

#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living - I want to keep avoiding the fast food trap that I was in for the first of 2008. Also, I want to increase my fitness level. As of now, I only walk for about 20 minutes a day and I know I could do so much better if I set my mind to it.

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals - motivation.

#5 A famous person you would love to have the body of...because each of us has a different body style and the realities that go along with it... - Kate Winslet. Healthy curves are in!

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies... - veggies with hummus (my fav!), sugar-free jello, chocolate milk made with sugar-free syrup

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! ) I'm back from round three. For any lurkers or newbies out there ~ this is one of the most caring and easiest to get along with groups on any forums sight I have been on (IMHO). It's a great place to share your pain and joy. Trust me ~ I have shared more about my past on this board than I would have ever dreamed of sharing with cyber-friends. And guess what, I didn't even bat an eyelash. That's how comfortable this group is. Post along with us, what's stopping you??

Erika - I am so sorry for not saying so yesterday, but I hope you and your family are doing better. I just read your post on 3. I agree, concern about family is not being self-absorbed.

Take care everybody!

Morning...I'm here. Going for a run and hoping that will bring some fire back into me. I feel like I am walking through hip-deep mud.

Morning everyone...

I am really feeling the dedication to this life to get better...I feel an energy here that is palpable and it is exciting...

Liz - I am so sorry...you soud like you ned a hug ust to hold up everyone else...

People turn to you because you are so good with advice and your heart just opens freely..but that also means you need to watch how much you can bear...your BIL sounds like he is trying to figure out where he stands in many levels of his life...that is a hard place to be...he is in a foreign country and his support is his wife there...and here it is you..but I would bet he wants the two to be one...I am curious on why she changed her mind...

You must feel completely helpless..and you are one lady who is in control of many things...you have an ease about you when a lot is on your platter for functions and such...but these are things that you cannnot be responsible for..so lend an ear...an outsretched pair of arms...but let go of their happiness and their well being...because you cannot take ownership of what you do not have a part in...(ie..their marriage)

I too often jumped in to be everyones savior...and I stretched myself to thin...if you try to be everything to everyone..you will not be there for yourself and your marriage and your beautiful girl...

You will miss your joys being wrapped in everyones sorrows...

Easier said then doen when you are a fixer....

Love to you honey...

Steph - hope today is a good day for you..

Amiee - thanks for the kind words and the willingness to share yourself...you are valuable and there will be a good man fo ryou if you want him ...

Everyone else...:cool1: we will be on for 2009 and looking migty fine!

:grouphug: Hang in there honey.

Glad you are feeling better...and I must apologize to you! My dear friend..her name is Aimee. I now see I've been spelling your name wrong...I will try oh-so hard to get it right!

Morning...I'm here. Going for a run and hoping that will bring some fire back into me. I feel like I am walking through hip-deep mud.

Running almost always does the trick for me. Sometimes my life gets to be a jumbled mess....and when I run, I think. I work thru all the crap. There are times when the emotional stress and physical effort get to be too much...and I end up crying when I run. But then - it's like I reach a point of clarity - where what is important comes into focus and I am able to release all that other sh*t that is bringing me down.

I think that we try so hard to be so strong and steady...so unflappable that we forget that it's ok to also have needs of our own. Not stupid, selfish needs...but there is only so much of a burden that each of us can carry before we simply collapse under the pressure.

Please remember...we are friends here. We are more than happy help you with your load.:grouphug:

(omg. So sorry if I sound like a Lifetime movie...:scared: )

Everyone else...:cool1: we will be on for 2009 and looking migty fine!

oy. A poet in our midst.

Weather is still crappy. Cloudy, foggy...damp...I'm being a big ole weeney and don't want to ride my bike in this mess. What a baby I can be

Maybe I'll finish stripping the wallpaper border in my son's room today. Wanna get that painted soon!
