"I love you" , "I know!": A Star Wars Weekends Disneymoon - Update 7/12 pg. 3

All caught up again after my week in Disney and the wedding.

I truly believe you are the first person who has said anything nice about the Stitch ride. I don't like the character to begin with and we did the ride once when it first opened and haven't been back since. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Tony's is a lovely restaurant...so glad it was your first nice meal of your DISmoon.

I don't understand ignorant, pushy people either. I've gotten to the age where they get a piece of my mind. If you have young children, I will let them in front of me so they can see...but not if you are pushing and shoving.

Seeing Wishes on your first night with tears is normal...and I'm glad you and hubby had that experience.

When we last left our intrepid travelers, Kristin had been captured by the evil Emperor Zerg. But Luckily Steve came to the rescue and saved her in the nick of time.

All the shooting aliens and getting captured can really make a girl hungry, so even though we we're about 40 minute away from our ADR time, we decided it would be too soon to try to get on another ride, so we stroll over to Main Street towards our first dinner in Disney: Tony's Town Square. We took a detour through the Emporium on the way there to kills some time. I swear I could spend about a million dollars in that store! I really loved all the new retro 1971 logo merchandise. I was tempted to get myself a t-shirt but held off. I also really loved the really colorful Kitchen stuff. Can you tell I really love color? Steve was also really tempted by a Walt Disney World baseball Jerseys but also held off. We were just window shopping at the moment.
By the time we can out of the other end of the Emporium we we're right across Main Street from the restaurant and we still had 20 minutes. I guess we didn't kill as much time as we thought we would. We decided to take a chance and see if we could check in early.

Steve and I have to different opinions about what transpired next.

We walked in to find the waiting area PACKED. Granted it was Memorial Day. But then again I expected the parks to be mobbed and they weren't. The family that had just checked we're saying the wait was an hour. I look over to Steve and tell him we'll probably be waiting for a while, good thing we got here early. The couple decided that their kids would NOT wait for an hour so they took their name off the list. We let them go ahead of us and they we're very grateful. We stepped up to the desk, clad in my Bridal Ears and our "Happily Ever After" Pins. The waitress found our reservation and confirmed that we we're on our Honeymoon. She told us that since we checked in early they couldn't guarantee we would get a table any earlier than our ressie time. She was a really nice CM, made some small talk with us asking if we got married in Disney or back at home, yadda, yadda. We stood around for waiting for our names to be called. I was a little nervous it would be hard to hear so we stayed close to the hostess area. Not even 5 minutes later we we're called to be seated.

Now Steve thinks that all the other people waiting in the lobby did not have reservation. Which could be entirely true. However, I seriously believe that because we were on our Honeymoon we were ushered to our table waaaay before everyone else. This is what I choose to believe is true, and I'm sticking to it. :snooty:

I had originally had an ADR for O'hana and cancelled it because I really wanted to see Wishes our first night. I thought "how cute would it be to have dinner at the restraurant based on Lady and the Tramp??" However Steve's not a huge fan of Italian food, mostly Tomatoes and tomato sauce (So basically most of the menu). But I noticed there was steak. BINGO! My man is a meat and potatoes kinda guy. So I knew he'd at least order that.

We started off with an Iced Tea for myself and water for Steve. One thing he always orders if it's on the menu whenever we go out to eat is Calamari. It was indeed on the menu! I was really tempted by the Parmesan Bread but I knew it would fill me up, so I decided to forgo an appetizer. When the Calamari came, Steve dove right in. Normally I don't like fish. And fact that this was squid turned me off even more. But was feeling adventurous and decided to try some. It actually pretty good with a little lemon juice, dipped in the marinara. When I looked at the menu before the trip I went back and forth between Chicken Parm and Spaghetti and Meatballs. But Once I got there, I HAD to have the Spaghetti and Meatballs.

Steve threw me for a loop and decided to order the Cannelloni, which is pasta filled with ground beef, sausage, mozzarella, and ricotta served with Marinara and Alfredo.
(source: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=134)

This is not what I thought he would order. But he enjoyed it and that's all that matters.

Here's a blurry food pic. (Steve doesn't really "get" the whole food porn thing. But he humors me.)

When I took this picture I didn't realize I actually got a pic of our awesome waitress, on the right side of the picture. I was just taking a picture of the restaurant. But I'm glad I did because he was a really great waitress. She was VERY attentive and very nice.

Since it was our first dinner on our Honeymoon we decided to splurge and get dessert. I had to go with Tiramisu, my favorite, and Steve had chocolate gelato. No food pics, we were just enjoying ourselves and relaxing.

On the way out I really wanted to get a picture of the Lady and the Tramp fountain. Lady and the Tramp is one of my Disney movies (Which is as why I really wanted to eat here) As I was setting myself up, one of the waiters asked if we’d like a picture together, to which we happily obliged.

IMG_0041.jpg

We thanked him and he wished us a "Belle Notte" which just made me giddy. (And now I have the song in my head "….And they call it Beeeeeelllllllla Noooottteee"):goodvibes

After dinner we headed out toward Fantasyland to explore more of the Magic Kingdom.

What will Steve and Kristin see and do next?
What new obsession will they discover?
Stay tuned for more…..

I'm in! We ate at Tony's Town Square on our honeymoon back in August of 2012. They sat us at a table where they sang Bella Notte. :) It was perfect!

Hi Again Kathy! :wave2: Did you have a good time in Disney? I guess I'll find out soon enough once I start reading your TR.

Tony's is indeed a very lovely place. Those did have 2 small kids with them, so I sort of forgave them for getting in front so the kids could see but they we're still pretty rude. They didn't ASK if they could get in front of my they just sort of shoved their way in. >:(

Awwww that sounds really cool. We didn't see anything around singing when we we're there except for a birthday.

Thank you!

I had a really good time making the little video blogs throughout the trip. I love Coronado Springs. (Although I haven't really stayed at many resorts, so I don't really have much of a comparison.) Glad to have you reading along!

Day 2 – Tuesday, May 28th

We woke bright and early for our first full day in Disney. I had one of those “I'm too excited to sleep nights.” All night I kept tossing and turning, waking up, going back to sleep for a couple of hours, rinse and repeat. I think I was just running on adrenaline because I was fully awake that morning. Haha.

Another thing I had heard from the board was Disney's infamously bad coffee. Now I basically have to have my coffee in the morning to function. I'm a serious caffeine addict (I will actually have withdrawal and get headaches.) I debated going up to El Centro to grab a cup o' Joe from Cafe Rix. However I was still in my PJ's and didn't feel like leaving the room quite yet. Also I didn't want to run the risk of getting up to El Centro and then getting a call from Garden Grocer, only to have to go right back after I've got comfortable. So I just decided to risk it and just use our in room coffee maker. To my surprise we did not have the NesCRAPe I've heard Disney provides guests. It was a brand called Joffery's. Being a Game of Thrones fan, this was quite amused me. I have to say, it was actually decent coffee. I had to use both the little packets of powdered creamer to get to how I like it but it was pretty good.

Another thing that I frequently read about on many, many trip reports is.....STACY!!!! (not sure if that's the correct spelling). After making my coffee, I told Steve I was putting something “special” on. Something that EVERYONE at Disney has to experience. Once I finally found her, I got back into bed next to my husband and watched Stacy in all her Top 10 glory with my mediocre cup of coffee. It was a good morning. Another thing that really impressed me and was the amount and variety of channels you get in your room now. We had the entire Direct TV line up!!! When I was a kid I remember all we had to watch in the room was (of course) the Disney Channel, HBO, the Weather Channel, CNN and a the local ABC & NBC affiliate stations. My mom always said they didn't give you a lot of choices because they wanted the guests to be out in the park instead of sitting in the room watching TV.

We went through the Stacy loop once and then moved on to other things. While waiting for the groceries, I unpacked our second bag and wrote in my travel journal.

At a quarter to 10, Steve got a text from Garden Grocer that our packages had arrived and we're over in Bell Services. We walked over to El Centro to grab our food. I had never ordered Groceries online before, so this would be interesting. We mostly ordered breakfast stuff, water, snacks for the room, soda and milk. Went we got there, they we're actually in the area over where the luggage is stored. Maybe because he was quite a few things that had to be refrigerated. They brought out the first bag, then a second.....then a 3rd......then a 4th. My first thought was “Did I really order all this stuff?” But then I started looking in the bags and realized some of the stuff was a tad bigger than I thought they we're. So they're were quite a few bags but with only a few things in each. Like one bag just had the milk. We lugged it all back to our room. Steve refused to use a cart and insisted we could carry it all ourselves. One thing that made this a bit more difficult was the fact that the paper bags had no handles.

We got back to our room and unpacked our groceries. I look at everything at said “Oh Fudgesicles, I bought too much didn't I?” The main problem was the fact that I really can't judge size just by looking at the ounces in the description in the Garden Grocer. When you're walking through the grocery store you can look at something and determine if it's too big. This was a problem with the Gatorade we ordered. They were the bottle was the same shape as the regular size bottles but they were pretty big. I figured we would just try and finish everything by the end of the week. I was a bit annoyed at myself for getting so much food but Steve said “It's not the end of the world.” (He says that a lot. My Husband is a very easy going guy.)
After showering and snacking for a bit we headed to yet explore even more of Magic Kingdom and play more Sorcerers. We walked up to El Centro and went to bus stop 1. We found a bench and took a seat and waited. AK bus pulls up, no one gets on, EPCOT bus, Hollywood Studios, Downtown Disney, Epcot, Hollywood Studios. I think we waited about 15 minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus. I chalk it up to the fact that MK is the farthest park from our resort.

We got to Magic Kingdom a little later than I originally wanted to due to the fact that our groceries came a little later than I had an anticipated. The show in front of the castle was showing when we got to the Hub. We fought the masses and went left this time towards Adventureland. We we're on a mission for a frosty treat. I snapped this side view of the castle from the bridge.

IMG_0061.jpg

We made another left right after the bridge and found what we're looking for. DOLE WHIP!!! This was the moment I've been waiting for!

gOknhoq.gif

I ordered a Pineapple softserve and Steve got a Dolewhip float with Orange softserve and pineapple juice. We got our Dolewhip and took a seat on the very hot black rocks across from Aloha Isle. As soon as I got my cone, I wanted to take a Video Blog of the me eating Dole Whip but I was having a rough time trying to get my phone camera going while the ice cream rapidly melting and running down my hands. I said “forget it” and just enjoyed my pineapple soft serve, while my bottom got nicely toasted on the rocks that have been baking in the sun.

You're probably thinking....”So...What did you think of the mythical dolewhip?” This is probably heresy but I thought it was just okay. Personally the pineapple while good what a bit too sweet. I had a taste of Steve's float and I found the orange soft serve to be more refreshing. Maybe the heat was making me delirious, who knows.

After our snacks my hand we're nice and sticky, so we dashed off to wash my hands. We went back around to the hub and moved on to Fantasyland. We ran over to the fastpasses in front of PhillarMagic and grabbed fast passes for Little Mermaid and crossed over through the threshold of New Fantasyland!!

IMG_0062.jpg

I thought about checking out Storytime with Belle the wait time was REALLY long. It was 120 minutes or something like that. We walked on to Belle's Village.

Steve tried to mimic Gaston's pose in this picture but the fountain was too high and it looked weird. So I just got him standing next to it.

IMG_0064.jpg

We looked around the little shop next to Gaston's Tavern. I was kind of surprised there wasn't more shopping in this area. I did see one art piece in the shop that sort of made me laugh.

IMG_0065.jpg

I apologize for the blurriness. I don't know what happened, I think I was too close. But Beast and Gaston look like total stalkers in the painting.

We loved on towards Prince Eric's Castles. To my surprise, there we're a line of CM's blocking the entrance to the queue.

IMG_0067.jpg

Apparently the ride was shut down temporarily. So much for our Fast Passes. We took a peek in the new Seven Dwarves Mine Train ride. It looks like it's going to be a really great little coaster! I can't wait until it's done.

I really want to at least walk through Storybook Circus and see the dueling dumbos. I got really confused because we got to the end of new Fantasyland and I could not figure how to get there. Apprently we had to get there through Tomorrowland. I loved Storybook Circus. I miss Toontown with Mickey and Minnie's houses but I really love all the color and the themeing the area. It was getting pretty hot at this point so we walk through the Big Top for a bit to cool off.

We decided to try and ride Space Moutain next. We walked over and fastpass return time was for 6:30. We had dinner reservations for 5pm at Epcot. Guess we won't ride that it was already 2:00. How about TTA Peoplemover? Where is the end of line? “OMG, that is a really long line for the Peoplemover, I don't need to ride it that badly.” We decided to take a break and in front of the Peoplemover.

As we're sitting around people watching (we we're actually people watching people in line for the Peoplemover.) I noticed a Little People family. (being 4' 8” and technically a Little Person) I tend to notice them in a crowd. Then I noticed, standing 5 feet away from me is none other than actor Warwick Davis!!! Of star of the movie Willow. He was scheduled to be at Star Wars Weekends later that week and was spending the day in Magic Kingdom with his family. The minute I noticed him, they we're escorted on to the Peoplemover by a CM. He is one of my favorite actors, to say I was excited to see him, and 5 feet away from me, would be a gross understatement. This was about my level of freak out

It was getting close to the time we had to leave so we decided to try to one more attraction that I really REALLY want to see, the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. The standby line was only 15 minutes, so we hopped in line. I think this is my new favorite ride in Tomorrowland. The level of interactivity with the audience is amazing!!! I know I keep saying this but those Imagineers are geniuses. I also loved Mike's nephew. After this ride we decided to head out to get ready for dinner. Right as we were leave people were lining up for the afternoon parade and we had to fight the masses again on the way out. It also started sprinkling a bit. It was one of those Florida showers that lasted about 10 minutes and was over. We were dry by the time we got on the bus.

Next up...
Where will their next dinner at Disney? What adventures wait our travels?
