We stopped doing EBCI when they jacked up the price. I was worried with 4 of us, on 3 separate reservations for this trip. On the way down, mid morning flight, got lower B's for both legs, we were not consecutive. On the way home though, when we checked in while at Disney, we got upper A's. Two of us were A59 and A60, but hey, we all beat family boarding. I was very surprised by that.

I couldn’t tell you the last time I got a flu shot
Never for me...

The one year I considered it, my employer was covering the cost... it was a vet clinic and it basically came down to they could pick a time when everyone but one person was there - either me or another guy. They went with when I wasn't there - what annoyed me mainly is they didn't say anything and that I only lived 5 mins away and could have easily run by that morning then come for my shift that afternoon, the other guy lived way farther away anyways 😠 Instead I just came in for my shift and everyone was talking about getting them.

Okay cool thanks. I’ve also seen people mention switching their cruise over to chase. What’s the reasoning behind this?

There’s not a cruise section on reddit right?
I'm don't think there is anything on Reddit. For the switching I'm not sure. Maybe people put down the deposit to book the exact cruise/room they want (no travel agent mistakes) and then transfer over to pay with UR?

Are there any cruise lines you can book with URs? I’m really entertaining the idea of a cruise instead of flying somewhere and touring. I’m mainly thinking of somewhere in Europe.
Pretty much all the majors, just no Disney. They advertise Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess on the UR portal but I think I've read they do Carnival too, so I'm pretty sure they do more than what you see there. They only put a select few options on the portal just to give an idea but it's all booked over the phone. If it's a line they have an agreement with they can book anything you see available on that cruiseline, with whatever pricing and promotions you see. They don't have any special inventory or deals, your advantage is just using the URs to pay.

I have to go for a checkup at the doctor next week and I know she's going to give me hell about getting a flu shot. I'm not an anti-vaxxer by any means, but after getting a terrible flu for the third year in a row with the flu shot, I swore it off. My doctor also won't prescribe Tamiflu to anyone for some bizarre reason though. I was glad she told me that in passing, because at least I know if I do get it, I'll just go to Better Med and get them to write it.

There had been info when Disney packages and cruises could be booked but I think it's archived after the changeover. When they weren't booking 2020 trips we didn't know where it was going so didn't revive it until that was settled. I think they've since resumed so we should probably bring it back somewhere for reference, since we've discussed this several times.

One of the advantages of transferring the cruise is delaying the UR payout, if you can get the right reps. You can only use your UR once and it has to be at first payment. This means if you book directly with Chase all the UR you want to use are taken at the deposit, you can't earn more later and apply at final payment. If you have them all at time of booking then there's less reason to transfer. If you don't, then since you made payment to the cruise line for the deposit there's no payment to be made at transfer and you can keep earning UR until final payment and use them then. This is where finding the right rep is needed, some do it automatically, others can be talked into it, others insist it has to be paid at time of transfer.

If you have all the UR needed at time of booking then another reason to transfer is if you want to put some of the cost on a non-UR card. I think someone paid deposits with an Arrival+/CapOne Venture type card to erase to that part of the cruise and then used UR to pay for the rest.

Just bought 'chase presale tix' to Josh Groban concert in Radio City Music Hall next February! :cool1: while I would def. have preferred to use points thru portal, the rep informed me it wasn't offered for that,so I'd have to buy tix if I wanted to go. I wrestled with myself for two days (b/c I'm cheap) but all the stories here won out....so many people going to so many shows and concerts, this is something I RARELY do (my last concert was Jim Gaffifgan live at least 4-5 years ago) booked the residence inn Midtown east with a free nite certificate.... gonna take the train in and walk the city.... SOOOOOO excited! I love that site 'a view from my seat'- it really helped with seat choices!

I have to deep breathe on ski lifts, I am not a fan of heights. Ski lifts with my kids are even more terrifying, they are so wiggly (the kids, not the lifts, LOL)!!!! I don't know if the gondolas would ever have been for me! Ha!

OMG, I hate riding the ski lifts w/ my kids! They snowboard, I ski....and I am soooo nervous they are going to slide off! They are now 14 and 10, LOL. Hate those things!

@Haley R I booked a NCL through them. I booked with Norwegian for the room/level then transferred to Chase before the transfer period expired (it’s different for every cruise line) and paid the deposit to NCL on a credit card. I had to fill out a form but it was quick and easy. I then paid my cruise off in full using URs at 1.5.

We had a 2 CPs and APs that just expired in August and we went for 4 weeks total (never paying for a flight for our family of 4). We didn't do points for hotels and spent way too much money on food though. It was an expensive year and now we are on a budget lol.
Haha, did the same thing this past May...booked an extra "free" trip since had AP and rooms were on points. We must have spent $1000 on food in 4 days! Also, sorry to hear about your wife's accident and glad to hear she and the kids are ok!!
I had a note on my calendar to apply for the Barclay Arrival CC this month. Went to do it online today only to find the deal is DEAD. From my springtime reading on "points to neverland" site, the value of the sign up when redeemed for travel was ~$700. Punch in the gut to miss out on that!
    Anything comparible out there presently?
Ugh, I am so sad this card went away. I missed out too because I was 6/24 but DH was able to get it. Hoping Barclay will bring it back or at least something similar. Look into Cap One Venture.
Sorry I haven’t been very active on here lately. I’ve been super busy and very tired lately. I also think I might be getting sick. We don’t have any big cc news, just working on my CIP.
I've been super busy too and haven't had much time to spend here. I hope you feel better!!

    Likewise :(
Should be an extra MR point offer on Bloomies too though.

I guess they see I've used the Macy's offers before and want me to branch out. Based on my quick walk-through of one a couple months back I don't think that'll happen.

Both would stack with the US Department Stores Online offer that came out before (spend $75 get $10, online only) if you have it, since both Macy's and Bloomingdale are included on that.
sweet idea- thanks I got both on one card

Okay great thank you! We may end up saving our URs for a cruise then. I think going to Norway sounds amazing.

I wouldn't panic about the tamiflu...it's only supposed to shorten an illness by about 48 hours anyway...so not the wonder drug many people think it is...:rolleyes1

Thank you!! That’s all really good information. I didn’t know you couldn’t save URs to pay later if you directly booked with chase but it does make sense.

I’m wondering if you book through a TA that gives OBC and transfer to chase do you lose that OBC? I’m assuming yes?

Dh and I have to see how this first cruise goes but I kind of like the idea of cruising around to sightsee instead of traveling around Europe on our own

How do you figure out the transfer period?
