I don’t think I can ride tsm... will they accommodate my husband going twice to take kids?

Hello,
I was recently diagnosed with cervical stenosis and told not to ride anything rough or that whips you around. I know tsm is pretty calm but then sort of spins you between scenes. I am waiting on a referral to a specialist to get more info but not sure it will happen before our trip. If I can’t ride I am trying to figure out how the family can handle it. My husband and three kids will all want to ride. Their ages will be 7, 3, and 18 months (so possible riding on lap?). My 7 year old is way too nervous to ride even tame rides alone so not an option for him. How will wdw handle this? I have no problem waiting in the line with the family if we can do some sort of swap at the loading area. Or will this be handled as a traditional rider swap? I am new to this whole process so I apologize if this is an obvious answer. Most of the rides I am skipping I am just hanging back with the youngest but this one is different since all three kids can ride. Thanks in advance for any insight. I came to this board in a panic after diagnosis and it has been helpful to read how others can still have a magical trip.

Or have your husband go with the 2 older and you and the 18mo go and have a snack. I would not take the little one on the ride unless you an hold onto them anyway.

Get FastPasses for each of you. Your husband used his to ride with one of two of the children, then swaps Magic Bands and child/ren with you, and rides again.
This is what I would do if you can not get a FP talk to the CM out side the ride let them know your problem they might be able to help you they might not. But just get a FP and changed hands is the only sure why for your husband to ride once with each child. The little can sit on his lap for one ride

one thing you can do get FPs for all of you on the rides that you cant ride your husband uses his pass and the older child's while you wait with the younger two. when they come off he takes your band and younger child to ride and you stay with the older and youngest. on rides with height requirement the little guy will not be allowed in line even if you 2 are not riding. using your TSM ride you get a FP for all of you for ride and one of the 2 rides he takes the little one. I would suggest the oldest one and holds the little one on his lap. second time just him and the younger one so he can he him. you do not want to ride as it does whip you around.

Unrelated ride but on a recent trip my wife couldn’t ride the speedway and both kids wanted to drive. We all waited in line and then at the loading area my wife waited with one while I took the other then when I came back we switched kids and she walked out with the first. We explained our situation at the entrance and then again at loading and both had the same response. We didn’t need to do it on other rides my wife couldn’t ride but since they both wanted to drive we wanted to make it happen for them and the cast members were very accommodating.

I would think/hope a similar procedure would be available on other rides as well.

Others have answered your question well, but I just want to add that my husband was diagnosed with cervical stenosis over 20 years ago (and has had multiple surgeries over the years.) We've been going to WDW regularly since 2000 - you will still have a magical trip! Please message me if you have any specific questions about going to WDW with your condition. We have lots of experience!

FP would be the easiest. Otherwise, I would think CM would be accommodating like in the previous example. I wouldn’t think it would be an issue if you explained, but if you want to be absolutely certain, I would do FP.

I was a little worried about taking her on as well. We haven’t been to hs but we went in the one at Disneyland and it whips you around more than I thought it would!

Thank you all for your help. It sounds like with a little planning we can make it happen. We were going to get fp for sdd so I might need to think about talking to a cm and if that doesn’t work shooting for a 4th fp later in the day and swapping magic bands. I think giving my husband my magic band to ride again with another child is going to be helpful advice since I’m noticing some rides are only two seaters so our sons will have to ride separately! Thanks!

it works by switching bands. just talk before hand with the kids so the one waiting knows they will get to ride. that was the hardest thing for ours until we did a few times

Yes good advice! This will certainly be a time to practice patience!
