How much more entitled can people get?

So, I work in a local cafe and we put out BOGO breakfast coupons. They are the standard coupons where the free item is of equal, lesser value. Well this couple comes in yesterday and order their 2 breakfast items. The free one was $2 cheaper then the paid for one. ... They claimed that the second item was cheaper that they were not getting the "value" out of the coupon!??? IT'S FREE!
You might offer to adjust the billed price of their second item upwards so the markdown from the coupon is greater. It's the kind of ridiculous logic that sometimes snaps people out of their dumb position. Not likely to help this couple.

Reminds me of Disney.... entitled customers who refuse to follow a dress code ( at the signatures).
Oh man ... I agree ... but this subject is like dropping a cup of coffee into a deep fryer.

I would never even think to see what a dress code would be at a glorified amusement park vacation spot. I would assume park attire would be the dress code as we are vacationing at a park.
I would agree for park location restaurants.

I hear ya, but when you go to the trouble of following the dress code, then sit around a bunch of people in shorts and so forth, it takes away from the whole atmosphere.
I completely agree. And yet ... Without the occasional Clampett family rolling in to California Grill how would I ever feel righteous superiority over my choice in shirt cuff?

I honestly prefer dressing up for a long late dinner at the WDW Sigs, and being able to harumph quietly when lesser mortals are escorted by is not something I get in the real world very often.

Oh god entitled customers. I've seen so many. As I said in another thread I could write a book...

We had an elderly woman scream at us because my chain was in bankruptcy at the time and we couldn't honor her previously sent out coupon. There were only flyers in neon orange on about every five feet of the store. None of us would have jobs in a month. None of us got our vacation days, or employee incentives, but no, your 5$ coupon is the important thing. "I'm never shopping here again! Go to H___!!!" "We won't be here in a month and we're already there."

I told a guy we had no more discounts to offer on an item about ten times once only to have him say "Oh, you and I both know that's not true sweetie." Look, you can call me most any pronoun, or 'hunny' or anything southern, but a six foot tall middleaged dude calling me 'sweetie' in a condescending tone meant I sicced my manager on him. Bless his heart I heard the two yelling shortly after.

I had a family with a baby go to our dollar shop area (You know, little bins of cheap items) plop their baby on the shelf and proceed to change a poopy diaper. We. Have. BATHROOMS. Not even far away bathrooms. This was at the front of the store. They left the diaper on the shelf for us to clean up afterwards.
People get more disgusting every single day.

My great aunt and grandmother (rest their souls) were sweet and wonderful ladies. But, them and sugar packets - oh my. They would always order coffee when at restaurants. Both would drink it black, but each felt they were entitled to 2-3 sugar packets since most people do put them in their coffee. Then when they would get a refill and 2-3 more packets. If another family member was there and having coffee without using their sugar, they would claim those packets too. They were always taking sugar packets. My great aunt used to brag that she never bought even a pound of sugar. Once a month, she would take all her sugar packets and pour them into the sugar jar/cannister. She did a lot of baking, so you know she got a lot of free sugar packets. Not entirely sure what Grandma did with hers, but she did buy sugar as she would run out sometimes despite her sugar packets. I was too young to realize this was all going on, but my parents both were always trying to hide under the table at restaurants.
Anyone else picture this when reading this story?

Talk about being cheap. A bag of sugar is less than $2 today, I imagine it was even cheaper when this was going on.

War babies and remembering rationing and sugar shortages?

I am guessing that is part of it. They were born 1902 and 1903, so lived through both of the World Wars. They have both been gone over 20+ years. Both were very comfortable financially all their lives. It was just something that they did. And for the record, doing this would never ever cross my mind. Just kind of funny to think about their sugar packet logic.

At least they used it at home. Now, people just grab handfuls of napkins and condiments and just leave them on the table. They have to be thrown away after that. Such a waste.

When I told a customer I couldn't do something or I'd get fired, they told me "I don't care about that". Well, I care, and since you're not paying my bills, I won't be doing that.
When I told people "I'm sorry I can't do that it's against Compliance" they didn't care. That was in relation to doing things like rebating, or not charging a customer for an accident or citation. Compliance refers to how the insurance company filed themselves through the state's Department of Insurance.

When we told people "I'm sorry you're either going to have to leave or come in the back with us there's a tornado headed this way" people didn't care and were like "well I still want to check out"..yeah I get it it's the Midwest but good lord there's a tornado down the street your shoes, clothes, purses, whatever are just not worth it..

And it goes on and on. Peeps sometimes just don't care because what they want just matters more.

My grandparents and parents were the same about sugar packets and it is so common to see in people who lived through the wars. Irrespective of their financial means, sugar was rationed (to 8oz) and for years they longed for it. Interestingly, people generally ate far less sugar at those times in any event. Can you imagine how people would cope if sugar was rationed now? Even the British government’s attempts to force manufacturers to reduce the amount of sugar in food and drink and state quantities on packaging is being met with hostility.
Your Grandmother and her Sister sound like lovely people. Hold on to those memories.

But see you would be wrong in your assumption and should not be admitted with out the required dress code.
Agree, which is why the restaurants should be consistent about enforcing it. To the PP you quoted's point, there's probably a fair number of people who wouldn't expect a dress code at a theme park or it doesn't even occur to them. May not even have the right clothes packed. Should they be less aloof and look into it ahead of time? Sure. But the restaurant should also enforce it. Unless and until they do, its not fair for someone to be perturbed by someone else's dress when its being permitted.

I have an aunt just like that. She and my mom and their brothers grew up extremely poor and even though she is very comfortable now, she still pinches every penny including stealing sugar packets and napkins.

New entitled customer of the day. A lady came up and asked for a free to-go water cup. We gave her the small one that we give out for free and it also doubles as a child's size drink. We then watched her go up and put soda into the cup. The manager went up to her and said that she had to pay for the soda. So back to the register they go and we charge her the $1 kids cup. Then she says that since she had to pay for her soda that we should give her a bigger cup. Ummm, no. You got what you paid for and you tried to steal from us. Does no one learn right from wrong any more? How about any integrity? Nope, guess not.
