How has DVC membership changed the way you vacation at WDW?

One of the nicest things about being a DVCer is that since we know there'll be another trip soon, we take the time to discover the WORLD outside the parks. Renting a canoe at FW, or playing mini-golf doesn't make us feel "guilty" for not being at a park. Missing Fantasmic, Wishes, or even Illuminations on a visit is no big deal. We'll catch it on the next trip that year.
Even spending time looking around the different hotels and DVC resorts, and maybe leisurely eating lunch at one, doesn't feel like "robbed park time".

DVC has enabled us to make our vacations in WDW LEISURE, as vacations were meant to be all along!:thumbsup2

Instead of going every other year we can go at least once a year! For the next few years it will still be going to the parks everyday our kids are young DS is 3 and DD is about a week old. So I can see going to the parks every day for at least the next 10 years which is not a bad thing!

DVC is perfect for us. We stay in deluxe one bedroom villas for about the price of a moderate resort. Because of my wife's health our vacation pace is very relaxed and much more time is at the resort. DVC is a much better vacation experience for that.

Our APs also have changed our time use on property. We no longer feel the need to get the most our of a day's admission. We may come into the park to enjoy lunch or dinner, one specific show or event. If something is down or the lines are long we can easily move on to something else knowing that we will catch it next time.

We noticed this when we still lived in PA. Now that we live in Orlando we find DVC a perfect 4/5 night getaway with no need to overly plan our time.

We used to go twice a year, for a week each time. We recently got five trips out of our annual passes, and two of those trips were quicky little three night trips (once for the Expedition Everest preview, and once for the Pirate & Princess Party). Love those DING fares!

We're able to treat friends and family to 2-bedroom accommodations. That's something we never even considered before.

And we've slowed down. Last trip (January 2007) we saunted into Olivia's at about 10:00 for breakfast. We're also talking with Cast Members more. We had a fun conversation in December with Art the Greeter (at Beach Club). And I even got to speak with Chef Stefan at Beach Club and asked him a question about the holiday carousel.

Life is good!
