How far out can you book a hotel?

Is it always 2 years? I've never done universal before and we were planning on going in January of 2023. I see some hotels are showing availability for November 2022 so I was wondering if they always let you book this far out.

The most I have booked in advance has been at 14 months out as I knew the room rate was a great deal.

Usually I lock in my dates for the hotel 6 months out.
