Last trip I took MinnieVan once. Wait was 20 minutes. Took Uber about 6 times, never waited more than 5 minutes. Minnie cost twice as much and took twice as long. I'm done!

When going to MK where can Uber drop you off? Contemporary?

Yes. Uber can take you to the Contemporary where you can then walk to MK.

I really think people should consider Minnie Van as a novelty ride to do once during their WDW stay -- unless you have a group of more than 4, or need a car seat. MV are great, but they are not a reliable means of transport at all hours of the day, and probably never will be.

When we return to WDE -- IF we stay at OKW, which I hope we will -- we will take Minnie Van once. For DD15, you understand!

But for regular transportation, we personally will drive because that's what we always do and it's the most convenient. If you don't have a car, take MV ONCE and ride the buses the rest of the time. Or Uber for quicker pickups and lower cost than MV for just regular transportation.

I'm going to be staying a BLT in April. Can anybody tell me the best way to get to Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon? Bus, Minnie Van, Uber, taxi? By best I mean fastest and most comfortable.

Minnie Van/Uber/Lyft/Taxi would be my vote. Getting to TL via bus involves transferring at DS and is a bit of a pain.

Minnie Van is the most comfortable and you know exactly what you're getting in terms of a quality driver/vehicle, but availability can sometimes be a question.

Uber/Lyft have various options in terms of vehicle size/quality/price and availability can be better than Minnie Van during certain times.

Taxi is usually my last resort, but nothing really wrong with them either.

We have littles so Minnie Van is the best option for us given the car seats.

    Wishy washy answer, I know!

That's a perfect reply. I'll have my grandchildren with me so the Minnie Van sounds like the way to go. Thank you

I have no problem walking to MK from contemporary we stayed there before and it was great. In terms of trying to get one back though to Beach club from leaving MK. Is it smart to try and get one before walking back or maybe as were walking look for one? Are you able to just put in each resort you need to be picked up from since I wont know exact address of them? I really just want to avoid Disney transportation especially to MK. We always rent a car so the other parks are super easy.

We loved the Minnie vans. We used them three times this last trip. It was always pretty quick and we really enjoyed the conversations with our drivers because they all had unique and interesting info about Disney. That being said, I am not sure we took it at the most popular times. I could see it being frustrating if you had to wait long. The car seat option is fantastic though if you have kiddos.

We were there this past week and had bad luck with Minnie Vans. They never seemed to be available when we needed them. My husband would even check the app at random times just to see how available they were, and it was probably less than 50% of the time. I'm not sure how you effectively use them, because you won't know if one will be available until you need it, so you would always need a backup plan (which is harder if you'd need a carseat.)

Good to know. I'm trying to figure out our chances of getting one from Mickey backyard bbq to Epcot around 730 on a Tuesday night.

This is really worrisome. We booked at AKL with the intention of using Minnie Vans for all of our transportation. We love AKL and this will be our 4th stay there but we hate their transportation. I guess that we could just use a regular taxi as long as they have car seats.

Regular taxis are generally not going to have car seats, just FYI.

Uber does have the option to order a car with one car seat (but only one), although availability can be a wild card.

Just my opinion and please forgive the unsolicited advice, but I think depending on Minnie Vans for all of your transportation is potentially a setup for disappointment. While we’ve had good luck with Minnie Van availability so far (never more than a 5-10 minute wait), the service grows more popular by the day and from reports you read around here, availability can be stretched thin at key times. I’d suggest having back-up transporation plans ready when/if you run into difficulty with Minnie Van availability.

I really appreciate the advice. You are voicing exactly what my fears have been. We love animal Kingdom Lodge but after three or four stays, the transportation has really gotten to me. Perhaps it is just us, but we always seem to have the worst luck there. I think that I need to decide if I just want to upgrade to a different resort so that I am not relying solely on Minnie Van transportation. Thank you again!

Quick question: OKW is considered a deluxe resort (actually ALL DVC resorts are). So, is SSR an option for MinnieVan? What about the SSR Treehouses?

I also have my 4th stay coming up in August, and am with you in regards to the transportation. I do not think it is terrible, but for what we pay it could be a LOT better.

I used the Lyft app several times last trip and had a car in 10 minutes at most. For most of property Lyft will probably be about the same cost but is definitely cheaper than a taxi.
