Hotel in Miami

We are sailing out of Miami in December and looking for hotel recommendations for the night before. Interested in pros and cons of places to stay.

You don't say what your preferences are or your budget so it's difficult to know what to recommend. FYIW, we've stayed at the Marriott Bayside and been very happy with it. Got a nice view of the port.

We also like staying near Bayside Marketplace. Like OP said you have a view of the port and also Bayside Marketplace is an area on the waterfront that has numerous shops and locations to grab a bite that you can just walk to. YVE and Holiday Inn are other hotels in that area.

We stayed at the YVE in Feb and loved it, right across the street from Bayside Marketplace, and less than 10 minutes from the port. You can actually see the port from the hotel. Def recommend it.

Question- if we did the holiday inn, what is the transportation option to get to the port? Does the hotel have a shuttle?

We stayed at the Hyatt Place near the airport and Uber'd into port the next day. I want to say that it was under $30 for the ride.

We like Hampton Inn Brickell. It's at a good location near the metro mover and good restaurants in walking distance.
Having said that, for our upcoming cruise in March, prices have gone way up, so we have booked Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon instead (not far from airport). It's near the airport, but has conveniences across the street like a Publix and somewhere to grab a bite.

Your best bet is to call the hotel, but if they don't offer a shuttle, Uber is your next best option.

We are budget conscious and don't care about being in a trendy area of Miami (are fine just being close by for an easy uber to the ship) and have found very economical places to stay in Kendell which is 10 miles southwest of downtown Miami. We found great clean comfortable chain hotels for about half the price of staying in Brickell or right by the port. Where we staying in Kendall was about $150 and the place we were considering in Brickell was about $300. From Kendall you need to use uber or lyft, but we are super comfortable with doing that. I think our uber ride was $18 or so and it took about 20 minutes to get to the ship.

Recently did a pre-cruise stay here:

This seemed to be one of cheapest among the Bonvoy options. Negative reviews online seem to stem from nothing within walking distance around there (which is true), appearing not safe to walk outside at night (if staying pre-cruise, probably no need to venture out) and comments about cleanliness (which we did not notice at all). Offers a complimentary breakfast which is good enough (especially if you'll be boarding a cruise within a few hours). It is located in between the Miami airport at the Port of Miami. It was a $20-22 USD Uber XL ride from the airport to the hotel, and similar from the hotel to the Port. Each around a 10-15 min drive (we did not hit traffic). Suspect would be cheaper using a regular Uber or Lyft.

Overall I would not stay there for an extended period, but is an affordable pre-cruise hotel.
