Got my FPs this morning at the opening of the 60 day window. I'm only in the parks for two days and I'm hitting AK on Day 1, so as expected, all the FOP and NRJ morning FPs were already snapped up by the time my window opened. I did manage to grab FOP FP for the 2:00 hour for me and two of my boys, and I grabbed NRJ for my wife and 5yo son (who is currently only 43" and probably wouldn't like FOP even if he was tall enough) for the noon hour. I'm going to try to slide my FOP reservation up to more closely coincide with NRJ, but so far no luck.
So my question is how to do Rope Drop. We're going on a Wednesday, February 13 prior to President's Day weekend. Crowds are predicted to be moderate. Plan is to be at the gates by 8:00. We'll probably be headed to Pandora at RD because for the other rides we plan to do I already secured a FP (Safari, Primieval Whirl), or I'll be doing single rider (Everest), or they don't typically have a super long line (Bug, Kali River).
All five of us could walk onto NRJ at RD with minimal wait and be out by 9:15. But I suspect by then the line for FOP will be at least an hour. What if we start at FOP? I'm thinking the older boys might want to do FOP twice, and the youngest boy might want to at least walk through the cue. Assuming we head straight to FOP and exit about 9:30 (is that about right?), how long would our line be by then at NRJ?
If it isn't realistic to squeeze both rides into the 9:00 hour, I'll probably just do a quick pass through NRJ and then trot the kids over to the shorter waits at Dinoland while most other folks are still in Pandora.
