Have your kids started school yet?

For those who's kids start in July, when do they end school/summer start? Where do you live? I can't imagine school starting in July. We always have been in Sept. I didn't even know there were places kids went back that early!! I just learned something!! Thanks!

End the end of May, but 2 weeks off in October, 3 weeks over Christmas and 2 weeks in March

I think schools in Michigan start back right after Labor Day.

We are in West Michigan and got a waiver to start early. All of the schools in our county begin on 8/28. My nephew (in the neighboring county) begins on 8/23. My girls are in high school and the first football game is next week. My girls march so they will be at that game. There is also another one the Thurs. before Labor Day so we can't go away or vacation. If they want to make it so school begins after, they need to make sure nothing happens before and that's not possible due to the number of weeks they have to fit everything in. I hated that "law" and am so glad we are starting sooner.

Memphis TN area- public schools started back on Aug 7. Private schools start this week.

Kids start the Wednesday after Labor Day but there is a Superintendent's Day for the staff on Tuesday.

Exactly this. Well except the Tuesday we have "meet the teacher" which takes 5 minutes to drop in at the school. They have a staff meeting earlier in the day.

DD starts tomorrow, she is SO excited
The summer was shortened this year because the HS District changed the calendar and start times. With the mid August beginning, her first semester finals will be before Christmas Break and she will graduate the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

The day now begins at 8:15 am (from 7:30) and ends at 3:10 ( I think, maybe 3:15) so she is at least pleased with the extra sleep.

We always go back a few days after Labor Day in our area, except for one year when there were a bunch of Jewish holidays off in September so they started before Labor Day and that was awful.

I'm in South Jersey, with two in parochial school. They start on Tuesday, September 5th.

Working on week two already, started August 7th. My wife is on week 3. Teachers returned July 31st.

Mine started July 11th, so we're 6 weeks in. Coming up on a 3 week break starting next week.

Mine went back Aug. 2. Their last day is May 23. They also get a couple days in October for fall break, a week for Thanksgiving break, 2.5 weeks for Christmas, and 1 week for Spring Break in March.

The local school district will start Monday, August 28. Up until about 5 years ago, school didn't start until the Wednesday or Thursday after Labor Day. Then they started getting a fall break in late October, a full two weeks at Christmas/New Year's, longer spring break and assorted miscellaneous days off throughout the year. To keep the end of the school year about mid-June, they have to start earlier now.

No, my DD starts September 5(day after Labor Day), the governor here in Maryland made in mandatory that they can't start until after Labor Day now. Although she has freshman orientation(OMG high school) on Aug 30, the 9th graders go 1/2 day.

I think our school starts a week from next Monday. They had to get special permission because the state of Michigan would like schools to wait til after Labor Day.

NYC- I return the day after Labor Day. The first day for student's is September 7.

As soon we get settled in, we're off on the 21 and 22 for a Jewish holiday.
