Hello Jean

~~*~~Welcome to the UKDis~~*~~

I am afraid I can't help you with your query - I haven't heard of anyone swimming with the Manatee's before - but you've come to the right place to find out! If it can be done, someone here is bound to know and will post the answer for you :) :)

If you've any other queries, please post new threads for them - you'll get more answers that way.

Now..............down to basics: Where are you staying, when you going, how long for, have you been before, what plans have you got so far! :) :) :)

We're a nosey lot and love to know the details :) LOL

Glad to have you join us and look forward to getting to know you :)

Thank's Bonzo
i'm one very happy bunny now what a super link, all that i need. Thank's again.

Hi, and welcome to the boards

We haven't swum with manatees, but we have been out in the waterways at Crystal River and were lucky enough to spot some. If you do get the chance to go over there, I hope you have as wonderful a time as we did!

Hi Kaylee
I notice your from Plymouth, i was there last week, my daughter who's in the navy had a family day on her ship. She's now home on leave. We've been to Plymouth quite a lot we just love it, there's alway's plenty to do. Thank's for welcoming me on to the board. Now i'll answer the question's Janice was asking, as i enjoy reading about everyone's visit's as well.
my husband Alan and i are going October 8th-22nd and staying on i-drive at the quality inn, we've been 4 times to wdw, the last time was in february, i booked a quick week but didn't tell him where we were going, he didn't think for one minute it was Orlando, as we had already booked for October. he found out at check-in at Glasgow airport. You should have seen his face. I hadn't booked car hire which was a first but because we stayed in i-drive and only for a week we didn't need it.
We've also been to disneyland once.
This time we're going to discovery cove, we booked it in February while we were there and got $60 dollar's off the price, which was brilliant. We,ve also got the 10 day disney pass so there won't be much room for anything else.:Pinkbounc

Hey Jean

Just wanted to post as last year we were supposed to to the THE FLORIDA ADVENTURE TOUR with VIRGIN but we had close on hurricans so they had to cancel it and we did not end up going!!!!

However I have just looked up on virgin site all the excusions you can book and here is a link:

http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/florida/

This is what they say about the trip:

Florida Adventure Tour
Come and see the real Florida! Enjoy breakfast first then a 2-hour boat trip on the picturesque Crystal River. Chance to swim and snorkel where the Manatee's live! Followed by a scrumptious lunch overlooking Kings Bay. Brave an awesome 45-minute fully narrated airboat tour on the Withlacochee River. Finally, see the wild animals on the fun filled jeep safari. A great combo!

I am not sure if this is what you are after but I hope it helps...

Have fun

Hi Jean,
It's my first time in Florida this year so I can't recommend one, but this is the one we planning on at the moment
www.fun2dive.com

This is the email I received that explains what happens

Hello Zoe,
My name is Capt Joe Detrick. I want to first thank you for looking
around my site and your interest in the manatees interaction program that we
offer. Nov is a great month to interact with the manatees. We run our tours
from Oct to March, only during the colder months.

MANATEE TOURS:
Minimum Requirements
No age requirements, no rushing permitted, must be able to handle fun and
have an open mind.

About our Manatee Tours
We only offer 1 trip per day and these are Full Day Tours with the Manatee.
Each tour will included a licensed USCG Captain / Professional Educator and
holds the required Federal Permits for this Manatee Program. Since we strive
to give you the highest level of interaction and education about the
Manatees we do limit the group to 6 people, and we only offer full day
trips. Our custom built boat has a capacity of 13 people and is a very large
and a very stable boat for both Scuba and Snorkeling, again we do limit
the number of people to 6 plus crew. Our skilled staff is in the water to
assist you in anyway, any time.

What is Included
Every thing is included in your tour, so there is nothing to rent. Boat trip
with licensed Capt. All your snorkeling equipment that you will be using
such as your Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Booties, Wetsuit, Towels, Drinks, Snacks
and even Sunscreen. We only use top of the line snorkeling equipment.. So
you will not have any no junk gear, plus we keep new spares on the boat.

Our Snorkeling Experience with the Manatee
Each tour will include a USCG Captain / NAUI Professional Educator. We have
over 25 years of safe scuba diving and snorkeling experience and over 17
years interacting with the Manatees. Our Professional staff is in the water
to assist you in any way and at any time. This is a very safe, fun and
educational day with the manatees.

Our Cost is Per Person
The price is $85.00 per person. $70.00 if you have your on gear. But you
must have a wetsuit. Please remember that these are Full Day Tours to give
you the highest level of interaction with out crowds, Professional Staff,
Drinks, Snacks, and Towels and all snorkeling equipment is provide. Cameras
and Video
We also have camera and video rentals so you can capture your day with the
Manatees. The cost of a camera is $25.00 and includes your first roll of
film. Bring extra film and we will change it for you. This is much better
picture than 2 throw away cameras and cheaper.

About the Day in a Nut Shell
We start at 6 am with the class room portion which is located in Sanford
just 20 minutes from down town Orlando. Here we will talk about the Manatees
why they are Endangered. Also this portion of the program will explain the
rules and regulations from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and how to
interact with the Manatees. Basically what we are doing is giving you some
Manatee Manners so your interact will be a great success for you and the
Manatees. Then we will get fitted with the snorkel gear that we will be
using for the day. Watch a video and then answer any question. The trip to
the dive site is 1 hour and 40 minutes we do stop half way over to grab a
bite to eat. We normally get to the boat around 9:30 - 9:45. We will then
load the boat and take a very scenic boat trip to the area we will be
snorkeling. You can take a break during the day when every you choose, it is
your day. We finish the program around 3:30 p.m. This gives you some where
around 6 hours on the water and you would have experience something of a
life time. This time will fly and would have seem like seconds. Now that's a
vacation to remember.

Cancellations
Our cancellation policy ....... We require to have at least 2 people to run
a tour. We require a seven (7) days notification if you wish to cancel a
tour. This is consistent with the airlines, and hotel policies. We will not
refund on a short-notice cancellations. We pre-charge all credit card
reservations for the cost of the tour. In the event of a last minute
cancellation or a "no show" we will bill your credit card for the number of
spaces you reserved. This cancellation policy is to give us time to re-sell
any seats left vacant. We run tours in cold weather and rain. In the event
we cancel a tour for bad weather or other reasons (lighting, high winds or
un fore seen maintenance ) you will not charged.

Reservation
Reservations are required that is the reason the address is not listed.
Since we only offer 1 trip a day with a small group, I would not want
someone showing up to do a tour and we are not here or all ready have a full
group. I treat every one like I would like to be treated. Please call for
reservation at 1-888-588-DIVE or 407-323-6714 the best time to reach us is
after 7 p.m. eastern time. Try us, and find out why people from all over the
world have been coming back year after year. Its just Good Ol' Southern
Hospitality. See what others have to say
