I would love to hear everybody's recommendations for ONE food item at each country's counter service spots. I'd like to "sample" my way around the world next month and need your help as to what's the BEST that each country has to offer. Could either be a dessert/snack item or main food item - doesn't matter to me :)

Thanks!

Okay...around the world...counter clockwise...

Canada - Beaver Tails

United Kingdom - Fish & Chips (you could also get a Bass Ale at the Pub to wash them down with :) )

France - Any pastry in the Pastry Shop!

Morroco - ???

United States - Foot Long Hotdog

Japan - ??? (Sushi?)

Italy - ??? (I hear there's a pastry shop there now)

Germany - Beer :D

China - ???

Norway - ??? (Sorry too busy going on the boat ride)

Mexico - ???

Gee, looks like I'm going to have to check some of these places out in October. Can anyone fill in my ???'s? I don't think every country has a counter place. I know Morocco does but I have never tried it.

I loved the lamb sandwich at Morocco. It is pretty much the same as a Gyro, if you have had one before. If not, give it a try. Yummy! Also, brat at Germany was v. good. We were not impressed with Japan though, we had the teriyaki chicken & steak combo.

Don't forget the Rice Kreme at Norway or the Iced cinnamon/raisin pretzel with almond slivers. Great while waiting for Illuminations with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate

i personally loved the pretzel sandwich thing at Germany's counter...Mmmmm...

UK...most definitely the fish and chips!!! that's my first stop!!

i've heard that china has good eggrolls...

I'd also recommend the ham sandwich on pretzel bread in Germany.

Norway has a cute little shop with sandwiches and deserts. You can get snack food or real food, depending on what you're in the mood for.

We like the fast food in Japan. Last time we had a combo platter (to share between the 2 of us) with one skewer each of chicken, beef, and shrimp. It also had rice and teriyaki sauce.

My picks:

Canada - Cheese soup and pretzel bread at Le Cellier

United Kingdom - Fish & Chips

France - Napoleon from the pastry shop

Morroco - lamb schwarma platter (kind of like a gyro, served with tabbouleh and couscous)

United States - cheeseburger & fries

Japan - we usually buy some candy in their gift shop, I think they're called Pocki?

Italy - ?

Germany - toss up between pretzel or a bratwurst

China - ?

Norway - Ice-cold Ringnes and a kringla (sweet pretzel topped with almonds & icing)

Mexico - a layered Magarita

Hmmm...

The baklava at Tangerine Cafe is wonderful, lots of other treats look good too.

This is what we had last night:D besides dinner at Teppanyaki;

Chocolate strawberries @ the cart in Italy
Champagne @ Germany
Rice Creme @ Norway
Fiesta Margarita - the Mango @ Mexico
kaki gori @ Japan
and a garden salad @ the fast food restaurant in Japan before our PS at Teppanyaki because I love the ginger dressing and always want more

Alice

Italy: Now that I think of it, we have never eaten here!

Japan: Kirin Beer (we're not into Japanese food)

USA: have never eaten here, we can get burgers and hotdogs anywhere

Morocco: have never eaten here

France: Boulangerie Patisserie for a pastry.

United Kingdom: Bass Ale

Canada: Cheese soup & Beavertails

Thanks for all the great food ideas!! I'm going to have to print this thread out and take with me. One question - a few of you mentioned Rice Creme for Norway - what is that?

Canada-Beaver Tails
UK-Fish and Chips
France-Anything from the pastry shop
Germany-Pretzel
Norway-Rice Kreme
Mexico-taco salad
Those are my favorites. I have never tried anything from US. I can't remember the others.

Brat in Germany

Fish & Chips in UK

Cappachino (sp?) and biscotti from stand in front of Italy (especially on a cool night waiting to watch TON)

Am looking forward to trying others on an October trip

Thought the French pastries were generally a disappointment

Rice Kreme is a very cream rice pudding with a delicious strawberry sauce on top. ExcellenT!

Mexico=Fiesta Margarita or kid's meal (comes w/burrito, chips, soda, churro)

Norway=Vaffler (heart shaped waffles filled with strawberry jam)

China=bubble tea

Germany=pretzel (tastes like the yummy pretzel bread at Le Cellier!)

Italy=granita (I like coffee, but my boyfriend prefers the lemon)

Japan=Shogun meal (chicken, beef, and rice)

USA=nothing really, the counter service place has plain old food

Morocco=baklava

France=crepes

UK=fish and chips or a Crunchie chocolate bar from the inside store

Canada=chocolate hazelnut beavertail

Enjoy! :D

You've received wonderful suggestions but I cannot resist adding mine!

Mexico: Margarita!
Norway: Cheese plate from the bakery
China: Bubble Q Tea (it's a cold, fruit flavored milk based drink)
Outpost area: Frozen strawberry smoothie style confection
Germany: Like so many others, a pretzel, or almost anything from their sweet shop
Italy: any granita from the outdoor stand
USA: hot french fries here are the best!
Japan: Tempura in the Matsunoma Lounge (two butterflied shrimp, green bean, sweet potato slice, carrot slice-a wonderful break from the hectic park!) and a frozen Mikan drink
Morocco: Frozen tangerine from the outdoor kiosk, or any pastry from that kiosk or the one inside the cafe!
France: Cheese plate from the bakery
UK: Cheese plate in the Rose and Crown
Canada: Popcorn! This outdoor cart sells the best!

Obviously, I like cheese. Have fun!

Kermit, I went to the wdwig menu's, is the Ham sandwich on pretzel bread at Germany the Smoked Ham Sandwich? TIA!

Here are my favorites:
Canada--the cheese soup and the pretzel bread
United Kingdom-the hard cider and a cheese plate
France-escargot, they are the best escargot I have ever eaten
Morocco-lamb sandwich
USA-funnel cake or turkey leg
Japan-sushi and sake in the Matsonomma lounge
Germany-candy from the sweet shop
China--I just realized I never eat or drink here!!
Italy-cannoli
Norway-the prezel with icing or rice cream
Mexico-the fundido appetizer and a margarita

Try the viking coffee at Norway. It has some bailey's irish creme in it and it is great on those cold nights waiting for illuminations.
