First Dining Report Ever-New 6/15...The Day We Didn't Want to Go Home - California Grill Brunch

Wow! Flame Tree and Tiffins both look great! I am doing the RoL package at Tiffins as well in August and that chocolate dessert is calling my name! Were you seated in the main dining area or was there a separate area for the RoL package diners? I'm glad you enjoyed your meal!

PS. Totally agree with you on how small the BWI pool is.....I stayed at Boardwalk last summer and while I enjoyed many aspects of the resort, the pool area was not my favourite.

Great reviews, I am excited to try Tiffins this summer as well. We are doing the ROL package. I think the meal is a pretty good deal with the three courses. We tried The Boathouse our last trip and really enjoyed the food.

There are three dining areas...two to the right of the check-in desk, and one to the left beyond the bar area. We were seated in the room to the left. And the ROL package was a great deal for us...at $67 each we had an appetizer, entree, and dessert that would have added up to $74-77 dollars. Unfortunately, we didn't see the show because of a fierce thunder and lightning storm that blew through but we so enjoyed the meal. One of our favorites during this vacation!

I'm enjoying your reviews! I'm considering changing some of my existing reservations to try Boathouse and Le Cellier, since your meals look so yummy!

This is our second time eating at the Boathouse...both delicious meals and I highly recommend (We especially loved sitting on the outside deck), and we loved our meal at Le Cellier...everything including food, atmosphere, and service were outstanding! Enjoy!

6/4 - The Day We Didn't Want to Go Home - California Grill Brunch

We got up early today to pack up the room, take a walk around the lake a few times and get ready for another reservation we were both excited about...California Grill Brunch. We arrived a bit early to our reservation, after taking the bus over and deciding to walk from the MK to the Contemporary. Noted the new security measures and screening along the pathway on the way to the resort. We also encountered bag check and screening when we left the GF on the monorail en route to the Contemporary earlier in the week. So scary to think of how our world has changed and the new world our children have to grow up in.

Back to our Brunch, we were quickly escorted upstairs...really no line, why do you have to bother to take my cell phone number and buzz me less than a minute later that our table was ready to go up??? We were greeted with a mimosa each and a quick tour of the buffet service. I did note that the sticky buns, scones, biscuits are now located on the buffet and not brought to your table pre-plated any longer.

So first up...My DD loaded up her plate with sushi and cheeses and I totally missed that shot, while my first plate looked like this:

So from top center I had...Country Cheddar Biscuit, a yummy Spinach Salad with Pears and Nuts, Flatbread, Cheeses, Sopresota and Salami, Fresh Honeycomb, Salmon and Capers, Mini Fruit Salad (I had two of these) and a Gluten-Free Cranberry Scone. I really enjoyed everything on my plate and went back for seconds on the fruit and some of the cheeses. The only things I didn't like were the biscuits and flatbread (too dry!) My daughter went back for a bit more sushi and cheeses as well.

Our waitress took our orders but waited until we were ready until she put in our orders. For our entrees, we both had:

Grilled Hanger Steak...Two Eggs-Any Style (She had over easy, I had scrambled), Chimichurri, Marble Potato Hash, Charred Red Onions.

As you can order, additional entrees we also enjoyed one Blueberry Pancake
Buttermilk Pancakes, Florida Blueberries, Vanilla Custard, Blueberry Compote, Powdered Sugar, warm Canadian Maple Syrup

and split a large order of bacon that we ordered as a side.
There was nothing about this meal that we didn't like...the atmosphere was beautiful, with a two-piece band playing, the mimosas were plentiful, the food just about perfect, and the view amazing. I was a little surprised at how dressed down people were...we dressed up a bit for our fancy brunch (sundresses.)

As brunch also includes desserts and we were way too full, our waitress boxed them up for us...

Macaroons, chocolates, mini-cakes and truffles came home with us to enjoy later that night. We were so full that all we had was a light salad at the airport and one or two of these goodies when we got home.

Best of all our brunch gave us the opportunity to enjoy this view one last time...

What an amazing vacation...looking forward to our next stay! I usually have an idea when we will return when we are leaving but we might use our DVC points for a cruise next year or visit to Hilton Head. Thanks for following along on my first dining report...this was fun!

What a way to end your trip! The brunch looks incredible. I really enjoyed your reviews! You did a wonderful job with them! :)

I want to do that brunch so badly, it looks wonderful! Great reviews, thanks for sharing :-)

It was certainly worth the price tag too...if you're a mimosa or sushi lover, combined with unlimited entree selections (you order as many as you like) it was well worth it!

:rotfl: they did that to us too!

Thanks for sharing. We have some of these on our ADR list, so I am super excited now!

Enjoyed all your reviews, the brunch looks so delicious. We will be trying Tiffins in August, I am really excited for this one.
