Duck Tail on Cruise Ships

Hello,

After seeing the recent Magic and Wonder picture in Nassau, I can definitely see the Duck Tail (I think that's what it is called).

What does that extra tail do for a ship? Does it make it faster, more ballast? After seeing the pictures of the ship in dry dock I thought it wasn't going to be so pronounced. But the picture in Nassau you can really see it sticking out.

Thanks for your help!

Joe

It helps with the stability of the ship, it can be regained a little easier. It does also help with the reduction of power consumption for the propulsion.
