Drive Distance - Doable?

Thinking about doing a beach drive - leaving our hotel around 9am (after rush hour) and heading north to Oxnard and then following the PCH down through Malibu to Santa Monica. I would like to catch Venice after and then maybe dinner around Rondondo and then head back to the hotel (goal to be back by 8pm ish)

Is that doable? We will most likely sit for periods along the drive and enjoy the scenery, find a cute place with a view for lunch (suggestions?) and walk the pier in Santa Monica.

We will have another beach/LA day - but not sure what we will do other than end in Huntington that day.

Yes, that is very doable in one day.

You may enjoy lunch at the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe in Malibu. It's right on the ocean.

Assuming your hotel is at DL? IMHO, you are better off going south. You could even catch the train in Anaheim (@ the baseball stadium) and head to San Diego. Encinitas is a bit of a hidden gem compared to Santa Monica (North San Diego county - there's a train station there too). If you are committed to the drive and want to stay close, Dana Point, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, and especially Laguna Beach are all great choices.
