Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Okay, I made my reservation. According to the travel assistant I just talked to, you cannot book connecting rooms of two different categories (2 queen room plus a king room). It has to be the same category. Also, you can only get guaranteed adjoining rooms in the non-preferred area, but you can get guaranteed connecting rooms in the preferred category. I don't know if it is worth spending another $500/room is worth it for a connecting room plus preferred location so I just booked the standard category for now, thinking I could always change it if I decide it IS worth it.

Let the long wait begin!

Whoever you spoke with gave you incorrect information. You cannot actually book connecting rooms anywhere on WDW property. They are simply a request. Also at CBR, 65% of connecting rooms are 1 King and 2 Queens.

I’m not convinced your TA is correct. I’ve only ever heard that Disney will only “guarantee” connecting rooms when there are multiple children and only 1 adult, and them people even get warned here on the dis that that still isn’t technically guaranteed(which I would think it would have to be, but that’s a different story). I think you can request connecting or adjoining rooms between a king and a 2 queen room, but you have to know it might not be likely you’ll get that since there aren’t as many king rooms. You could hope to be in the same building or area, though. Then if you add any other requests it gets even harder. FWIW, we’ve had good luck getting multiple rooms together in the past, twice we got 3 rooms in a row (once pop, once POR).

Just talked to my parents who are almost done with a 9 night stay at CBR. They have never loved CBR as much as we do but wanted to try it after all the upgrades and now they LOVE it! My Mom who can be a picky eater was raving about the new offerings at Sebastian's and Spyglass Grill. Old Port Royale has a more upscale vibe than before yet still very welcoming.

The buses have been great so far all times of the day. They've had pre park opening ADRs, late starts, etc with no issues. One morning 4 people had to stand but other than that everyone had seats going to the parks. Longest wait for a bus has been 12 minutes to MK yesterday but that's only because they saw an MK bus pull away as they were walking up to the stop. They always shop, snack and people watch on a bench after fireworks so the ride back to CBR hasn't been packed either.

It's funny they are finally starting to slow down their touring styles and just now experienced the joy of grabbing a drink and strolling around the lake at night. They even stopped and watched the fireworks in a hammock. They thanked us for always going on and on about doing that. They even canceled their evening FPs for their last 2 nights to do it again. Parents! They never listen.

They eased my worry, a little, of Old Port Royale feeling crowded with the Check In being moved there. However I'll wait until we're there in May for final thoughts.

They did not opt out of housekeeping and have had great service. No issues with the room checks either.

There are plenty of Halloween refillable mugs available. And according to the head chef, lunch service will start just before Thanksgiving. My Dad has dietary restrictions and has to speak to the head chef everywhere they stay. I knew this so he was sent with instructions to get the scoop.

That's all I can think of for now. They've got 2 more nights so let me know if there's something specific you want to know about.

Ugh, that irritates me. I will call and talk to someone else tomorrow to see if I get different information. A king/two queen combo would be ideal, and the connecting part isn't even necessary. Either way, the worst case scenario is that we end up in separate rooms away from each other, and that would be fine too.

I just wish they could get their story straight! I honestly wish that they could create resort specialists so that once you decide what resort you want, they transfer you to someone who could help with these kind of requests. It seems like there is too much ambiguity.

Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough but I haven't seen many good pics of how everything that's new looks from inside the main pool area now. If anyone there now or sometime soon thinks of it I would be appreciative of some snaps.

I'll ask my Parents to take some. I won't be able to post any until after they get home. They haven't figured out sending them from their phones yet.

Ha ha, glad to hear I'm not the only one a bit slow with technology :)
Good to hear your parents are having a wonderful time!!

Cool thanks, I'm not rushed. I'm just trying to get an idea on how much time I want to plan for pool and laying around there and also in the room during breaks in late November. They extended different park hours so I'm thinking some extra lazy resort time is good.

Quick question- I’ve tried to find the answer in the thread, but now that the remodel/construction is done where exactly are the preferred rooms located? I’ve never stayed here before & as this was the only hotel we could find for a quick get away next month and they booked us preferred. TIA.

From what I've gathered recently, parts of Martinique and parts of Barbados (formerly Trinidad North) are now Preferred. I don't know exact building numbers though, I would guess that could be a bit fluid for the next couple months as they look at how things are working with the new openings.

Currently all buildings in Barbados(formerly Trinidad North) have Preferred, King and Water View rooms. All buildings in Martinique have Standard, King and Water View rooms. Rumor has it that the Standard rooms in Martinique will go back to Preferred.

Just switched over from Boardwalk Inn to CBR for the last 2 nights of our trip. I waited until the resort construction itself was completed and I got myself a Preferred Room at the Enchanted Room Rate. Was hoping for a Passholder rate but I'm pretty happy with what we got. I mean it's about $330 cheaper than the Boardwalk Inn. I really like the look of Old Port Royale and I'm very excited for try Sebastian's and Banana Cabana. My family used to stay at CBR years ago before I purchased DVC so this is a bit of a nostalgia for me.

All great to hear! I'm happy their bus experience wasn't bad like the pp, I hope we have their luck!

I also hope check in being at OPR doesn't make it too crowded. Although it's like that at every other resort, so I'm sure it will be fine.

I hope to get a Halloween mug next week (we're staying at the BCV this trip, so won't make it to CBR to get one, but keeping my fingers crossed they still have them somewhere in the Epcot area).

I'm so happy to hear they are adding lunch - I just couldn't believe the final plan was to not have lunch at the food court! It should be started well before we get there, so I hope they get it going and work the kinks out before Christmas.

Hi all. My family (2yr old, wife who will be 5 month preg with twins, and I) and my sisters family( Sis, Hubs, 3.5yr old) are planning on staying at CB in separate rooms the end of Feb 2018. We are trying to figure out if it's worth it to get preferred rooms or is standard fine?

Awesome! I went to Disney when I was around 12 weeks pregnant with twins! (No one other than my DH knew yet, though). Now they will be taking their third trip to Disney over New Years at 21 months! Have fun.

To answer your question, I think being close is nice and at 5 months pregnant your wife might agree more than most. But it is a decent amount more, so I think you just have to compare the total prices and decide if it’s worth knowing your location (to a degree) for sure. You could get lucky with a regular room request and be almost as close as a preferred, and I think right across the bridge past the Island Cay (can’t remember the name) is a very nice regular location with a nice relaxing walk to OPR and not too far. But you could also end up in the furthest room, so it’s a tough one. We have preferred, but it’s all that was available when I booked so I’m kind of glad I didn’t have to decide. Now that we’re booked I have to admit I haven’t been looking to see if a regular room opened up :D!

Just got room. Martinique building 25.

Can we walk to pool from there or only internal bus to get to pool

TIA

You're like a 3 minute walk to the pool. You can walk everywhere. No need to use the internal bus for anything.

Wonderful. Thank you so much. The map link disney included with text looks like no sidewalks and only roads and therefore bus only. Lol. Must be old map
