I was looking at the tour to Versailles that is offered through Disney. Has anyone done this tour, and would you recommend it?
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you for the advice. I am spending 3 days in the city before heading to the Parks. There are not a lot of people within Europe using these tours. And Americans who have visited DLP & did this tour usually don't come back to this board after their trip is over.
I think with the tours, it depends on how much are you willing to spend on convenience, how comfortable are you with travelling by yourself in a big city with public transport?
My problem with this tour is that it combines Versailles and Paris. I would rather use two days, one to explore Versailles, and one to explore Paris. Palaces like Versailles can be quite impressive and overwhelming. You would need time to process it, take it slow, to enjoy it more.
It will take about 3-4 hours travelling, about 1,5 hour to get to Versailles, 30-45 minutes to get to Paris Central, and another 1-1,5 hour to get back to Disneyland Paris. All depending on traffic.
What I assume how the day will go:
- 10:00 leave
- 11:30 arrive in Versailles, start tour palace.
- 13:00 lunch
- 13:30 tour palace more and the gardens.
- 17:00 leave to Paris
- 17:45 arrive in Paris and do the river cruise
- 18:45 go to the Eiffel tower and do photo op*
- 19:15 go back to DLP.
- 20:15 - 20:30 arrive back at the hotel (when in Summer)
*When I was guessing the timing, I see that the tour doesn't include time for dinner. Making me wonder if you have time for dinner in Paris, or if they want you to have dinner after you return to DLP.
The river cruise and the Eiffel tower really feel like ticking off boxes. And that's great, if you have only one day, and won't be back. If you have more days in Paris, or you might visit the city again in the future. I would rather go to Versailles, do the day there, have a nice dinner and then just go back to DLP. That way you can process what you have seen, instead of all the impressions blurring in your mind.
Morning -When are you going? Have a look at the calendar on the website, in the garden of Versailles they don't turn on the water fountains every day, be sure to go one day when they're on, it's certainly worth it.
