My daughter, mother, and I love doing the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. We decided to give the Dreamer's Lounge at the Tokyo
Disneyland Hotel a try this past Friday and were really happy that we did. Hopefully you will find some of this info helpful as you consider whether or not to do the tea when you visit.
We arrived just before noon and were immediately seated at a table. Unlike the Grand Floridian, no reservations are needed for this tea experience. I'm not sure if they even take them.
It was very relaxing and the staff were incredibly accomodating. I actually enjoyed it more than the last couple of teas that I had at the Grand Floridian. With no tipping at restaurants in Japan, I was disappointed that we weren't leaving a tip after this experience to express how great we found our service to be.
My mother and I got the Afternoon Tea Set for 3800 yen each (approximately $35 US each). I don't eat any seafood and my mother is very picky about the seafood she eats. We asked if they could leave out the items in the tea set that had seafood rather than waste them and just give us everything else. We were both good with paying for the full set without getting the full set as it is just that a "set" not an a la carte menu. The woman taking our order said that it would be fine for us to just leave out the seafood items, having us cross out what we didn't want on a paper copy of the menu, but then a gentleman came over and suggested substitutions for the seafood items.
Everyone we came in contact with here really went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the selections and carefully identified everything we received. Our substitutions included a corn soup in a small tea cup, a bite sized asparagus dish, a prosciutto item in a small glass, and a mini avacado salad in a small glass. We also each received a pot of tea (which was refilled), 2 scones (one plain and one pistachio), an egg salad tea sandwich, a roast beef and potato salad tea sandwich, fruit sandwiched between a couple of biscuits, a little jelly/fruit item, and a trio of desserts.
Here are some pictures -
My tea and corn soup - both delicious
The prociutto and avacado salad items are pictured next to the sugar in this pic. They were tasty.
The asparagus and sandwiches. I wasn't huge on the asparagus but the tea sandwiches were really good.
Scones - I loved the pistachio scone. Unfortunately it appears to be a seasonal offering, though. It was tied with the sandwiches as my favorite items in this tea set.
Fruit items and cookie wafers - I wasn't a huge fan of the part of this course that looks like a fruit sandwich but the fruit jellies were really good.
Dessert plate with macha and raspberry desserts - Unfortunately this is a pretty bad photo of what was an adorable dessert plate. The cone dessert had white chocolate shaped like streamers coming out of a raspberry filling and was sitting in a bed of rainbow sprinkles.
My mother and I greatly enjoyed everything and were full at the end of this tea.
My 17 year old daughter wasn't feeling up for the full tea set so she ordered the tea cake and tea option. I don't recall the exact price but believe it was approximately 1200 yen (roughly $10 US). She also received a free refill on her pot of tea. Below are pictures of the plate of cakes which she got to choose from and the cheesecake that she chose.
I hope that you have an excellent time if you decide to try the tea for yourself!
