*Disney Club - Should I Join???*

For a trip to DL and DCA, would it be beneficial to purchase the Disney Club? I have been resisting, because the Disney Stores in our area are closing up, and that was my biggest payback with the Magic Kingdom Club card. However, we are going to DL in April, and if the discounts are worth it, I might crack. What do all you purchasers think?? (By the way, I do have a Premium Annual Pass for DL - bummer, missed the two-park trade - if that enters into the equation.) <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">
I tried to go to the Disney Club site, but without joining, they only show selected discounts. What are the benefits???

I'm not paying for something that used to be free. Even if I'd come out a couple bucks ahead, I wouldn't join. It sends the wrong message to Disney that people won't mind being milked for every dime they can get out of us.

Don't know how much time I have, if I'm leaving at the beginning of April. I'd love more feedback.....

I joined the Disney Club and went to the Disney Club website to get a quote for 4 days at the DL Hotel and 2 4-day flex passports (allows park hopping between DL and DCA and EE on all days but WED and SUN). I was quoted $1612.00! I thought that was a ridiculous price, so I declined. (To be fair it did include a California tour book and a character breakfast).

Other than that, all I've gotten out of mine was periodic mailings of coupons (all with expiration dates of a month or so).

I do understand I can buy a standard 4-day passport for $128.00 vs the normal $137.00 (or something like that). So if you go to DL or WDW 2 or 3 times in the two year period of the card, it might pay for itself.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=#6600CC>I have no intention of getting the DC card. It doesn't give a discount on daily passes to the park, and I can use my Premium AP for discounts at the World of Disney store & restaurants inside DL (don't know about Downtown Disney).

LuvTheMouse---- My card says it is only good for one year. Did you pay more to get the two years or did they give you that for the 39.95 price? We paid 29.95 for ours because we were previous members of the MKC. We also haven't gotten any mailings except for the very first ones that came with the package. I feel kind of ripped off.

On the other hand, if you are going to WDW the card does pay off. We saved a bundle on our room when we went in Feb. I am planning a trip right now to DL and haven't been nearly as successful in getting discounts for there. I wouldn't buy it again if it was just for DL. We are thinking about joining AAA instead next time.

Doh! My mistake. My card is only good for one year as well. Sorry. I have received 2 or 3 mailings though. The stuff I received is basically similiar to what you get in the initial packet (i.e. just a bunch of coupons. ex: "Save $10 when you play Tennis at WDW Resort", etc.) I probably won't buy one next year, unless my DW and I know for sure we are going to WDW.

We joined the club too. So far, I couldn't get any discount for our trip to WDW in June (blacked out dates), another offer that looked like it would be good was sold out when I called (they had advertised preview days for DCA with a good rate), AND a good rate on DL hotels was offered, but you had to stay before Feb.7! Then, I called to get a quote using one of the coupons & my quote was the same as what was listed online w/o the club.

Bummer... don't know if we'll ever find a use for it. A couple restaurants give you a 10% discount, but those are subject to change!!

My girlfriend and I are going in Sept, 29th 2001. The membership payed for itself with three nights Hotel and Tickets. As far as WDW goes you have to look at what dates you can use it for which hotels. Coupons, offers, National rental car discount, etc. included. I like one offer last year to try the Resort at Hilton Head, but they change offers yearly.
Have a great trip! :D

You can now upgrade your Premium pass to a 2 park pass for $299. That includes free parking, Disney Magazine, discounts on food and purchases and lower rates on Hotels at certain times. I do not have the Disney Club card since I am a Cast Member but have heard from guests at the Disney Store where I work that the card has more than paid for itself! You know it is good on Disney Catalog as well--you don't need a store around you to use it.

E-mail me if you have any other questions I might be able to answer.

My DC card paid for itself in the savings at Disney Stores or on line. But not everyone has to have all this Disney stuff.

Now I have family trips to both WDW and DL for this year. I turn 40 on July 17 - yes the aniversary of DL opening - Sorry that was off the point - Focus LOL

I figure for the trip to WDW in Dec. - we saved about 1200.00 on the package over the stated package price. At DL we saved at least that much on the room and tickets & I think there was a breakfast or something else in the package. Once again this would be over the stated price. I do not like to call all the time, speak to different people, negoiate, etc.(I do this at work)so I find it to save me money.

I do think for people with the Annual Passes and such the savings are not great with the DCC.

I just bought the disney card club. I think it was worth it. I saved alittle over 100.00 dollars and with the 800 number they gave me I booked a vacation package that I think was a pretty good price it beat what the travel agent was giving me. Plus I could still use it for the disney shops. We are going in July I can't wait we are staying at the Paradise Pier hotel.

The new Disney Card has already paid for itself for me. I buy a lot of disney stuff on line with the disney store and I get 10% off with all my purchases and with our resv's at GC I saved $75. Right now its worked great for me.

I agree that the DC would provide greater savings at WDW. It's also great for families...a friend has a family of five (herself, DH, and three kids), and it paid off for her. On the WDW Resorts board, there have been posts stating that DC members receive Disney $$ upon check in at a WDW resort, regardless of whether a room discount is available. I don't think they offer it at DL (yet).

Shortly, I will be making ressies at GC, so hopefully I'll be able to get a discount. The DC website says that there is a 10% discount on the room portion of packages (upon availability of course), in which case the card would pay for itself in one night's stay.

There are also discounts at restaurants, and if I'm not mistaken, I think there are merchandise discounts IN the park, with a $50 minimum purchase.

But, like MaryJo said, DC probably wouldn't provide any more benefits for someone who has an AP. I think it will pay off for me though. One of the main reasons I got it is for the Disney Store discount.
